Pop sensation Charlie Fever is touring the world and now XMP! Music, Charlie's record company, together with the 24-7 Music Station, has announced a talent search contest. The lucky group will open for Charlie when his tour stops in their city. Zoe, an energetic and ambitious receptionist at music production company XMP!, sees the contest as her big chance to prove she has what it takes to work in the business. According to the contest rules, anyone can enter, so all Zoe needs to do is find some fresh talent to manage. She recruits teens Tyler (Ty), Brando, Lexi, Madison, and - at the last minute - Aria, who is Madison's shy understudy and personal doormat. Zoe brings them together in an old warehouse studio that XMP! Music now uses for storage, where Madison is stunned and confused to see Aria. Zoe ushers them into the recording studio, and is pleasantly surprised by how good they sound together singing "It's Not a Dream If You Believe." This is the band she needs to win the contest and prove her worth to XMP!. if only everyone can get along.

Zoe is impressed - the group has been practicing nonstop and they show signs of improvement. But they still have a long way to go. The group wholeheartedly disagrees - they sound better than they did just weeks ago. Zoe decides to take the group for a peek inside XMP!'s new recording facilities for a little inspiration (and a reality check too). In a super swank studio, the group comes face to face with Delicious Dynamite, a tight boy- band managed by Archie, Zoe's nemesis at XMP! Unlike Totally Amp'd, Delicious Dynamite's vocals and dancing are so in sync with each other they could be one person. Brando and Ty aren't impressed to see that Aria and Madison are falling for Delicious Dynamite's cheesy moves. Under the veil of being "helpful," Archie points out her group's shortcomings, stopping shy of telling them to pack up and go home - everyone knows Delicious Dynamite is the obvious choice to open for Charlie Fever. The group is noticeably spooked by the competition and their confidence drops a few notches. Zoe hangs back and makes a bet with Archie. If her group beats out Delicious Dynamite, then Archie has to promote her to music producer. Archie takes the bet, but it also means that if Delicious Dynamite wins the contest, Zoe has to become his personal assistant, replacing the inept hipster Shauna.

The group loiters around the warehouse lounge wondering how they'll ever beat the well-oiled machine that is Delicious Dynamite. That is, the guys mainly wonder and stew while the girls are more interested in who is cuter - Davey, Danny or Dax. Zoe comes to the guys' rescue when she interrupts. Determined to win the bet (that the gang don't know about), she gives the group a pep talk, reminding them that she picked them for a reason, and the contest deadline is in three days, so it's time to hustle - but first they need a band name. Brainstorming, they come up with a list of horrible ideas until Aria comes to the rescue with the name "Totally Amp'd.' Everyone loves it and Totally Amp'd the band is officially born. Zoe assigns the group the task of writing two original songs, splitting up the girls and the boys. Over songwriting, Ty admits to his interest in Aria but isn't sure how to find out if she feels the same way. Brando suggests a well-proven solution - ask the BFF Madison. Meanwhile, Madison tells Aria that she can't decide between Brando and Ty. Brando is really cute but Ty is really sweet. Who does Aria like better? Aria shyly confesses she thinks Tyler is pretty great. Oblivious that Aria is staking her claim, Madison decides she'll spread the love around and date both guys. Aria is too intimidated by Madison's confidence to tell her that's not what she meant. Aria, Madison and Lexi's song "Dancing at the Speed of Love" is selected by the group to be the one they'll perform as their contest entry song, not realizing that Archie has been spying on them with plans to steal the whole routine.

The warehouse is a flurry of activity as JP and Zoe prep for Totally Amp'd's first video. The pressure is on for it to be great. Aria, revealing her artistic side, shows the group some designs she came up with for their stage costumes. The group votes unanimously in favor - except for Madison, who swans in late wondering what she missed. Annoyed that Aria has stolen the spotlight, Madison attempts to make Aria's drawings "better," until Aria, with Lexi's support, decides she's tired of following Madison's orders. Outnumbered and surprised, Madison blows off the costumes as something she doesn't really care about anyway. Totally Amp'd shoots the video for "Dancing at the Speed of Love" dressed in Aria's designs. Madison won't admit it, but the gang looks as good as they sound, which is fantastic. But just as JP is uploading their video to the 24-7 Music website, they discover another band has submitted a video with their original song - and that band happens to be Delicious Dynamite, thanks to Archie's sneaky spying. With barely enough time before the deadline closes, Totally Amp'd scramble to make another video with the new song "Cast Away" that Tyler quickly assembles. Although it doesn't have the same production value as "Dancing at the Speed of Love," the group is really happy with what they were able to do on such short notice. But with the video uploaded and not a single view, they now worry that it may not be good enough.

Archie sees that Zoe has entered Totally Amp'd into the contest but declares they will "Fail!" without a second thought. To Archie's horror, however, he discovers his ditsy assistant Shauna rocking out to "Cast Away" in his office, and the last straw comes when Shauna says Totally Amp'd is hands-down better than Delicious Dynamite. Zoe tastes victory and can't help but rub it in a bit. Totally Amp'd is interviewed live on 24-7 Music. At first tongue-tied by the live camera and then all motor-mouthing in unison, the interview isn't going well. But when Brando steps forward to show his dance moves to the world, disaster strikes as he splits his pants wide open, revealing his ducky boxers on television. Watching closely, Archie bursts into laughter at such a rookie mistake.Tyler watches all the remixes of the Brando pant split online as his on-air pant rip has turned into a viral hit. Although Brando is mortified, his spirits are raised when he learns this newfound notoriety has catapulted Totally Amp'd into the top ten videos in the contest. The number of hits they are getting is through the roof! With the group elated, Tyler uses the opportunity to privately approach Madison and ask if she's heard Aria mention the fact that she likes him. Madison uses this opportunity to dash Ty's hopes when she says Aria likes him - but only as a friend. Crushed, Ty and Madison hug, just when Aria walks into the room, destroying her hopes as well.

Totally Amp'd is glued to the TV in the lounge as VJ Singh and Charlie Fever himself - live from Singapore - announce the finalists competing to open for Charlie Fever at his next concert. It all comes down to the three most popular groups and they are: Delicious Dynamite (of course), Me 4 U (a sugary female duo) and... Totally Amp'd!! The gang jumps around, hugging each other. Deliriously happy, they decide to put aside their grudges and work on rehearsing a new song that will blow Charlie and their competition away. Threatened by Totally Amp'd's growing popularity, Archie plays on Zoe's desire to become a record producer by offering her the opportunity to fly immediately to Tazmania to manage a new XMP! band. He further raises the stakes by saying if she truly believes that Totally Amp'd can make it big, he'll hand over the reins to a bona fide XMP! producer who can make that a reality - showing her the contracts to prove it. Believing that Archie is being honest, Zoe reluctantly gets on a plane as he simultaneously tears the contracts to shreds.

Totally Amp'd waits around the recording lounge for Zoe to show up, when Archie shows up to deliver the news - Zoe's gone, and with her their hopes of competing in the contest. On their own and feeling betrayed by Zoe, Totally Amp'd quickly falls to pieces with everyone pointing fingers over who is to blame for blowing what could have been their big break. Fed up, Madison decides to go solo and quits. Brando follows suit, being in a group cramps his style. Lexi's had it with teenagers and all their drama. Ty shrugs, he really liked singing but if everyone's quitting then so will he. Aria can't believe they're going to give up and pleads with Ty to stick around. Ty, still heartbroken, doesn't see the point, and tells Aria, "See you around - "friend'." Aria is left alone with Totally Amp'd now just a memory.

It's the day of 24-7's contest when Totally Amp'd should be performing for Charlie Fever, but instead are back where they started. Aria is in her bedroom, watching the contest play out on her computer when she decides that Delicious Dynamite isn't going to win that easily! She visits Madison, where the two have a heart to heart and, for the first time, are honest with each other about their true jealousy and respect for each other. With their relationship repaired, the two set out to reassemble the band. Brando, back to dancing half-heartedly on the street corner where Zoe found him, agrees to come back after some sweet talking from Madison. Lexi, frustrated performing in "Little Miss Kiddie Pageants," wants to know what took them so long?! And Ty, found sadly strumming his guitar back on the coffee shop stage, has his eyes light up when Aria walks in. Before they can have their moment to make-up, Madison reminds them they've got a contest to win. As the gang runs through the streets, racing to make it to the 24/7 Music Station in time, Madison admits to Aria that she tried to sabotage her and Ty, and that she should totally go for it. This is music to Aria's ears, but first they've got a show to do!

The "Shoot for the Stars" contest is in full swing and Me-4-U has just performed live. As the lights dim for a commercial break, VJ Singh storms off in search of Archie - where is Totally Amp'd? Archie breaks the news - apparently their manager disappeared and the group split under the pressure. Just then, the gang races into the studio but is stopped by security. Their names aren't on the list! Suddenly, Zoe appears and pleads for the group to forgive her. She made a huge mistake and knows it. Reinvigorated, the group is suddenly stopped again by Archie when he announces that, according to the agreement, the band can't perform unless they are accompanied by a member of the "Music Producers Association," and sadly, Zoe isn't one. When all hope seems lost, JP, the guy who has not said ONE WORD the entire time, casually pipes up to inform everyone that Zoe might not be a member, but he is. The group races in to prepare for their performance as Archie stews and proclaims that no matter what happens, there is no way Totally Amp'd is going to win this competition. Totally Amp'd take the stage and bring the house down with their never-before-seen performance of "Shining Star." But will it be enough to win?

After the three performances, VJ Singh asks Charlie Fever the question everyone is eager to hear the answer to - who will he choose to open for him? Charlie grins - it's Totally Amp'd all the way! Off to the side, Zoe and JP high-five each other while the gang cheers and hugs. Emboldened, Ty kisses Aria, and after a beat of surprise, she kisses him back.Meanwhile, Archie is having a meltdown of epic proportions backstage and trashes Charlie Fever to Zoe, Totally Amp'd and Delicious Dynamite. Unbeknownst to Archie, JP has secretly switched on a live camera and his tantrum is broadcast for Charlie and everyone else to see. Charlie taps him on the shoulder and nulls his XMP! contract on the spot. Regardless of what Archie thinks, Charlie is XMP!'s biggest star and he'll say who is opening for him and who is not - Delicious Dynamite is out and Totally Amp'd is in. Victorious, the group files out with Charlie, leaving a dejected Archie to pick up the pieces. ONE YEAR LATER... We find Totally Amp'd backstage, laughing and hanging out when Zoe enters and tells them it's time to perform. The group then steps out onto a huge stage in front of a stadium audience - Totally Amp'd has made it! But, watching high up in the rafters is Archie, spying on them through binoculars and talking to an unknown individual on his bluetooth headset. It seems that Archie has other plans in mind for Totally Amp'd.
