Mark takes a look at new six-part Netflix original sci-fi drama, Between, and finds it lacking in nuance...
This review contains spoilers.
1.1 School's Out
I agreed to review Between for two reasons; Daredevil was rather good, and at only six episodes long, I could handle the tedium if it wasn’t.
After watching the first episode, I can say with some certainty that this isn’t anything crafted remotely like Daredevil, and it harks back to an era of network TV that I’d thought we’d left behind long ago.
It starts with a rather dire future where almost half of Pretty Lake’s population is dead, and then rewinds to ten days before to explain how this happened. It doesn’t present any plausible explanation of the deaths, instead filling its time parading a series of increasingly uninteresting and loathsome characters who we’re supposed to identify with before Between is done.

To promote their new full length animated feature Frozen, Disney invited members of the press to Disney Animation Studios to check out how the film was made, and show us selected parts of the film before its November 27th release. Also, they made us this pretty cool animated video of our name!
In “Frozen,” fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) teams up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven in an epic journey, encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf (voice of Josh Gad)in a race to find Anna’s sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter.
Our day started at the incredible Disney Animation Studios, in Burbank, Ca.
While there, we met with directors Chris Buck (Tarzan) and Jennifer Lee (co-writer Wreck-it Ralph), as well...

On Rookie Blue, there’s two things you can count on: Criminals, and a good love triangle… or two!
This Thursday’s episode (ABC, 10/9c) finds the two elements intersecting when a copycat kidnapper forces the precinct to revisit one of their most traumatic cases — one that marked the end of several relationships, including Andy and Sam’s romance. And now there’s two new pegs in the love square — Nick and Marlo — complicating matters even further.
Here, executive producer Tassie Cameron previews the emotional ramifications of this week’s episode and the future of Rookie‘s tortured lovers. She...

Question: Do you have anything on Season 5 of Parenthood? —Austin
Ausiello: A third party is going to create some tension in Julia and Joel’s marriage, and — shocker! — it’s not one of their irrepressible demon spawn! (I josh, I josh. I love those fire-breathing monsters… like a cold sore.) When the action picks up (after a somewhat sizeable time jump), Joel is in the midst of working on a two-year project with a fireball of an architect...

Rookie Blue fans, rejoice! The show finally returns this Thursday (ABC, 10/9c) with a fresh episode.
Dov, however, might be wishing the gang was still on a NBA finals-forced hiatus when his spontaneous hook-up with Chloe follows him to work in this week’s installment.
Below, his portrayer, Gregory Smith, talks about the resulting “ultimate ride of shame,” Dov’s “lighter” year and working — but not really — with his brother Doug Smith (Big Love).

Ausiello: Um, yeah. That’s kind of how this whole thing works.
