Void of Seriousness

This is pleasant enough as a kids cartoon but even then it is not as entertaining for kids as it could be. It is just an ok 20 minute distaction for young children done with excellent animation and featuring our much loved R2D2.

As an adult viewer this is just silly and without real worth in terms of storytelling. It is pointless. I really cannot understand why they ever make such silly, boring filler episodes.

In the Star Wars universe if you just put a space battle or war on an alien world with a big lightsaber duel you can make every episode entertaining and cool. In fact stuff any movie with that and you should have a hit. Yes we want deeper stuff and great storytelling but in terms of filler in between just put lightsaber battles and spaceship dogfights and you can't go wrong!

Why they use such great animation skills and time to make silly episodes like this is beyond me. Clone Wars is usually SO much better than this. But yes the animation looks very good indeed with some beautiful detail and it is pleasant and harmless for young children with bits of fun and humour for a child audience. And R2 single handedly adds value with his charming presence in the story.

My rating: 5/10.

The worst in this arc
Trey_Trebuchet19 July 2021
I'm not so sure this arc needed to be four episodes long. This one is soooo fillery even by Clone Wars standards. It easily could have been cut down to the beginning of the episode that followed, which was a much more interesting part of this somewhat silly story. I only gave it a 5 because it's Star Wars.

I was wrong, very very wrong!

After the dismal previous episode there were 2 things in my mind. First, the D Squad story ended in the previous episode. Second, It was the worst episode of the series. But I was so so wrong. This episode was actually the worst and unbearable.

And this episode continues the uninteresting adventure of D Squad where they are stranded on a void planet after getting caught in a snow meteor shower.

It could have been much better if this arc hadn't started at all. The worst part is, it will continue in the next episode as well.

The only good factor about the episode is its breathtaking animation and CGI, R2-D2 and others with the dust on them look perfectly real and not animated at all. Great visuals.

Direction/Animation: Average Direction, awesome animation.

Script/story: Awful.

Music: Average.

The worst episode of the series thus far, if I am not proved wrong in the next episode.

A bit of sci-fi in star wars finally

This episode is brilliant. Yes, it's a sort of break from the main storyline, but it has that old school, surreal science fiction feel (a bit simplified perhaps cause it's meant to be for children, but nevertheless), like Moebius artworks etc. So I don't understand the negativity in other reviews here.

Absolutely pointless

Doesn't do anything to add to the canon. Save yourself the time and skip this one.

Warning: Spoilers
I didn't like the last episode at all as it had a lot of plot holes. But this one wasn't bad as some are making it out to be. I think most of the angry audience belong to harcore star wars fans who just want to see lightsabers and same old intergallactic space fights.

I dont care much about the artoo storylines or these new characters but I liked this episode becuase I have always loved the stories like cast away. They are fun to watch and I guess every one of us at some point had a dream of being stranded. This episode was funny with how at first the colonel was being all cocky and then realised it's out of his hand to do anything now. WAC who wasn't so funny last epiosde actually delivered some good lines like "he really should've jumped off there". Colonel and WAC's duo was really effective in this one.

Another thing was the contrast between humans and mech. Although colonel was going crazy mechs seemed to be fine as they are not programmed to panick. But at the end of the day it was colonel's quick thinking that saved them. The thinking outside of the box the thinking which wasn't programmed into him. Although artoo's team beat them which I took as a gag If it wasn't for colonel wac would've been dead even with all his programmings. This episode had better flow then the last one, didn't have much plot holes and the voice acting by colonel was amazing. I am all for fun little episode like this even if they don't represent the core ideas of the story as long as they don't involve plot conviences or just plain boring stuff.

Another for die hard fans.

More extraneous exploits of a group of droids that needlessly occupies one's time. In musical terms, very much a b-side, or filler album track. Offers very little in terms of critical story plot or character development.

Not good

Warning: Spoilers
One thing I particularly dislike from any program, be it animated or live action, be it feature length or short, be it from a series or stand-alone: I don't like it when my intelligence is insulted.

And this episode insults my intelligence in many ways. Comets do not herd together. Even if they did, they would not cluster so closely; space is vast and when objects are relatively close, they are many miles apart. Smoke does not billow in space; there is no air. And I'm less than six minutes in. Our mechanical heroes haven't even crashed on the planet yet.

I want to be entertained. If it is necessary for a story to stretch reality to make that entertainment happen, I'm usually okay with it. I did sign on for this. But if I have to be stupid to enjoy it, I'm not going to enjoy it.

Unbelievable

I wasn't expecting this wonder piece of science fiction. After looking at all of the reviews on here, I would suggest skipping this arc if you do not have a brain.
