Big and Little
The driver of the last horse-drawn omnibus in London points out some odd survivals in the fourth of eight WONDERFUL LONDON short subjects.
There seems to be some reused footage in this short, not only of the man speaking to his donkey, but shots of some of the open-air markets of London. Nonetheless, the point is made, often surprisingly, of huge buildings, and house that fit into spaces that seem too narrow for a stout man to sidle through; a merchant's store, with his living quarters above it, and the vast bulk of Selfridge's department store; and of a small fishing village that is stuck in a mall beneath Hammersmith Bridge.
In the end, this looks like a catch all short, meant to use footage that did not fit into other films in the series, but was too good to throw out.
