This is the normal mish mash, up and down quality Royal Variety Performance really.
You can skip through it in half the time online, cutting out the performances from musicals you can then tick of as not being ever interested in seeing, or amusing yourself in seeing normally very sweary comedians toning it down significantly because they are on pre-watershed and in front of members of the Royal Family.
In future perhaps the family need to be gently reminded that if you are to attend (and you imagine straws are drawn through closed eyes) at least look like you vaguely want to be there. Out of politeness if nothing else.
