The scene in which Huyang search's the ships store for wood mimics Ollivander in Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone, even to the extent of some dialogue.
The 'Jedi fortune cookie' message that opens the show reads "The young are often underestimated."
Huyang is voiced by David Tennant, who is also well know for playing the tenth Doctor in Doctor Who. Huyang is essentially the Star Wars equivalent of Olivander from Harry Potter who was played by John Hurt, who also played a version of Doctor Who, The War Doctor. Both Hurt and Tennant appeared together in the Doctor Who 50th special.
Huyang's character is similar to Ollivander in Harry Potter. This is due to his personal connection to light sabers and having a record of every saber he's ever given (Granted he's a droid, but still similar nonetheless)
David Tennant is the second lead Doctor Who actor to have a role in Star Wars. Peter Cushing, who portrayed Grand Moff Tarkin in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977), played the lead in a pair of theatrical Dr. Who films in the 1960s, though they were adaptations of the TV series and are not part of its canon.
