Fuzzy Knight plays the piano and sings?!
planktonrules19 April 2017
Fuzzy Knight is a very familiar face in old time movies. While he appeared in almost any sort of film, he was common as a western sidekick and his goofy face and expressions helped him find a lot of work. I was surprised to see that he was a stage performer and MGM signed him for his singing! His singing, not surprisingly, is humorous in style and he scats a lot. So is it any good? Well, it's far from subtle and I think Knight made a smart choice to give up this act and concentrate on acting!! I could see this sort of act going over well at a dinner party but apart from that it's not particularly good...and after a while I felt like slapping him silly and telling him to 'SHUT UP'! And, sadly, he just kept performing and performing....and it is a case where I would have scored him much higher had he only done one song and not three!

So It Is

Fuzzy Knight is there when the curtain rises, singing nonsense scat songs into the piano lid, and generally mugging it up.

If you know Knight at all, it is almost certainly from on of the more than 180 movies, almost all of them B westerns, in which he played the comic sidekick. Here he is doing his stage act, a silly thing in which he plays quite well, sings jazz quite well, and....

i'd like to tell you how good Knight was, but despite his evident competence at this sort of comedy, it's just not my cup of tea. Still, for the kind of over-the-top humor it is, it looks well done.
