DC Comics is finally coming to ComiXology's Unlimited subscription service. This may now be the best deal in comics!
DC Comics is unleashing its superhero universe (as well as its Vertigo line) on ComiXology's Unlimited all-you-can-read subscription service, according to io9. Starting today, readers can access select graphic novels and single issues starring DC's most iconic characters, including Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. The service, which already includes books from Marvel, Image, Dark Horse, Valiant, Archie, and many other publishers, will set you back $6 a month.
This new acquisition from ComiXology comes at a time when DC is finally entering the digital subscription space with its own DC Universe service, which charges $7.99 a month for access to a selection from DC's comic book archive as well as a library of movies, TV shows, and animated series. The service is also home to original content, such as the Titans,...

We’ve been a big fan of Gabrielle Union and her work for some time so we’re thrilled to partner with Universal Home Entertainment to offer one lucky reader a Combo Pack of Breaking In – Unrated Director’s Cut.
If you missed it, the film is about Shaun Russell (Union) who takes her son and daughter on a weekend getaway to her late father’s secluded, high-tech vacation home in the countryside where the family soon receives an unwelcome surprise from four men who break into the house in search of a hidden safe. After managing to escape, Shaun stops at nothing to turn the tables on the thieves and rescue her two children being held hostage in a house designed with impenetrable security. No trap, no trick and especially no man inside can match a mother with a mission. The film was directed by James McTeigue, and also...

Hereford Films, the London-based production outfit best known urban thrillers such as We Still Kill the Old Way and Vendetta, are making the move into more horrific genre fare under the companies brand new “Hereford Horror” banner and has unveiled the artwork for its first venture: the Us-set, Blumhouse-style supernatural shocker, Aura. The film is due for release in the UK and USA in August by 4Digital Media and Sony Home Entertainment respectively.
In Aura, Mitch Walker and his pregnant wife Denise look to start a new life in the home he has inherited from his late uncle; a decision resented by his mother, who is convinced that no good can come from a house that harbors such a dark history. In her childhood, Mitch’s sister Karen suffered a horrifying trauma inside the house that changed her life forever, causing her to be institutionalized in a near-catatonic state. With...

We don't see everything that happens in the final confrontation between an agent and an arms dealer in this episode of NCIS: Los Angeles -- and that means we can only guess what happens that leads to a dead body.
"Vendetta" sees the returns of the Kolchecks and hints at a (much) better father/daughter relationship in the future, but one of them does something that may not exactly be legal, and it's not the person without the badge. By episode's end, the fact that Callen and Anna haven't been able to spend much time together lately is all but forgotten.

Apollo 13 – Over the years, Netflix has settled into something of a pattern. Every couple of months, the usual suspects – the same set of predictable movies – shuffle on and then off the service. It seems strange to even note their inclusion of passing on the entertainment provider, given just how commonplace these changes have become. But between Et, The Matrix, V for Vendetta and about a dozen other movies that fall into this category, Apollo 13 deserves special recognition as it is by far the best of them. And the strangest thing of all is that the

Jonathan Sothcott has had a hand in producing a whole lot of independent films here in the UK over the last decade. You may have even seen a fair few of them yourself, especially if you’re a Danny Dyer completest.

12 Rounds 3: Lockdown continues the long-running franchise with yet another WWE superstar given the chance to headline. This time round we have Dean Ambrose, a wrestler known for his anarchic, unstable nature who doesn’t play by the rules. And that’s essentially the same character he plays here – only this time his character, Shaw, also happens to be a cop. The only good cop in his precinct it would seem, given just how many men Shaw’s former partner turned nemesis, Burke, brings with him to take on Shaw!
Essentially another Die Hard clone (as were the first two movies), 12 Rounds 3 sees Shaw, following the death of his partner, finally return to active duty.

Dean Ambrose stars in a new WWE movie called “12 Rounds 3: Lockdown” that will be released in theaters and on-demand September 11.
It’s the third movie in the 12 Rounds series. John Cena starred in the original 12 Rounds in 2009 and Randy Orton was the lead in 12 Rounds 2 in 2013.
Here’s a synopsis of the film from WWE.com:
Ambrose plays Shaw, a detective that returns to active duty after the death of his partner. When he uncovers evidence linking his fellow officers to a murder, they frame him for a homicide he didn’t commit. Trapped in his own precinct, Shaw will do whatever it takes to expose the dirty cops and clear his name. With twelve rounds in the clip and one shot at redemption, nothing will stand in Shaw’s way in this action-packed thriller.

Principal photography has started on UK action-thriller Age Of Kill, from director Neil Jones and writer Simon Cluett.
Jones’ sophomore film stars Martin Kemp (The Krays) as a sniper forced to murder six random people in six hours to save his kidnapped daughter, played by Dani Dyer (Vendetta). He later realises the murders are part of a political coup and attempts to unmask the kidnappers.
The cast also features Phil Davis, April Pearson, Anouska Mond, Nick Moran, Tony Denham, Donna Air and Patrick Bergin.

“They don’t write them like this any more, they really don’t” says a grinning Ian Ogilvy, sitting back casually in his dressing room on the set of Sacha Bennett’s dark crime thriller We Still Kill the Old Way. The actor, now in his 70s, once starred alongside the likes of Meryl Streep and Bruce Willis in Death Becomes Her, and Christopher Plummer and Orson Welles in Waterloo – yet the talented performer admits that work tends to dry up, in what can be a shrewd and unforgiving business.
“Men and women of my age don’t work that much any more, and in Hollywood, we work even less,” he said. “So I’ve done other things – I’ve been writing books, plays, I teach, I direct – I’ve found alternative ways of making a living. Which was lucky, because the business dries up for you. If you rely on acting at my age,...

World War Dead stars Ray Panthaki (28 Days Later), Wendy Glenn (You’re Next) and Kacey Barnfield (Resident Evil) and is about a TV documentary team travelling to the Somme to uncover new mysteries in relation to World War I. However, what they unearth is far from a new story, but an army of the undead and a brand new war.

17 year old Dani Dyer, daughter of actor Danny Dyer, has landed her first lead role in a British gangster movie called We Still Kill The Old Way.
Dani (represented by Sainou) previously featured in British crime drama, Vendetta alongside her father Danny (currently playing Mick Carter in Eastenders).
In We Still Kill The Old Way, described as "a blood-spattered urban revenge movie", Dani will play Lauren, a young girl who is rescued from an attempted assault by a vicious postcode gang by retired gangster Charlie Archer.
Producer Jonathan Sothcott said: "Having known Dani since she was a kid I have seen her grow into a remarkable young actress. She has a very natural, honest quality and really impressed us on Vendetta. I have no doubt she has what it takes to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a bona fide film star and I’m really excited to...

Stars: Danny Dyer, Roxanne McKee, Vincent Regan, Bruce Payne, Emma Samms, Nick Nevern | Written and Directed by Stephen Reynolds
Danny Dyer is an actor who tends to take a lot of flak for his acting. In Vendetta I won’t say his performance is Oscar worthy but you get exactly what you expect, and that is Danny Dyer. He seems to lack emotion, or the ability to act it out. When playing a character who is meant to suppress all types of weakness and emotion, the performance actually fits.
Vendetta is a film that wants to be Death Wish, and that is a high level to fight for, I’d say it doesn’t get there, but in aiming so high it actually manages to have many good intensions. Dyer plays Jimmy Vickers, a “special ops interrogation officer” who returns home to find his parents have been tortured and murdered by a local gang.

Blue Is The Warmest Colour (18)
(Abdellatif Kechiche, 2013, Fra/Bel/Sp) Adèle Exarchopoulos, Léa Seydoux, Jérémie Laheurte. 180 mins
Beyond making viewers feel lecherous, this Cannes winner's already notorious sexual frankness is just one element in an intense, sensual study of a young woman learning about love, life and, yes, sex. It's storytelling at its finest: simple but detailed, and at times unbearably emotional.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (12A)
(Francis Lawrence, 2013, Us) Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson. 146 mins
The only post-Twilight teen franchise left standing brings media manipulation and simmering revolution to its next round of youth combat.
Computer Chess (15)
(Andrew Bujalski, 2013, Us) Patrick Riester, Myles Paige, James Curry. 91 mins
The cruddy video quality and geeky insularity of the early computing era are fondly rebooted in this delightful retro farce.

Hi Danny, the press release for your new film, Vendetta, calls it "a career best" for you. Is it a "career best" (1)?
It is. I felt like I had a lot to prove, I'd had so many negative reactions to my recent films and people constantly mocking me. I was just like: "Fuck you – I'm an actor. I'm a serious actor."
Do you feel that your personal life overshadowed your acting?
For some people, yeah. It's like, Ok, you need to re-evaluate things, maybe you've become more of a personality, a celebrity than being an actor. There are some actors out there that are brilliant at just being the actor and not giving the interview, mainly because they're boring as shit and...

★☆☆☆☆ Ever since making an impression as loveable caner and Star Wars conspiracy theorist Moff in 1999's Human Traffic, Danny Dyer's subsequent filmography has largely been a case of diminishing returns. Recent years have seen him working almost exclusively within the realms of Dtv, endlessly regurgitating his crudely-drawn geezer persona which now feels a good decade past its sell-by date. Stephen Reynolds' Vendetta (2013) gloriously fails to buck the trend, registering as an all-time career low for the actor. In the same year which brought us the widely derided Run for Your Wife, that's quite a feat.

He’s been commendably honest about taking on under-par projects to pay his mortgage and turkeys like Pimp and Run For Your Wife have made Danny Dyer’s Pinter-endorsed heyday seem a distant Mockney memory. Unfortunately for Dyer and writer/director Stephen Reynolds, their collaboration on revenge thriller Vendetta will likely be judged by the star’s several cinematic sins. Which is a shame, because this Dagenham Death Wish – or Romford Rambo, if you like – isn’t just a slick and confidently made pot-boiler, it’s also a film featuring Dyer’s best performance since The Football Factory. Maybe even his best ever.
Styled as ‘judge, jury, executioner’ by the film’s surprisingly restrained marketing campaign, our hero Jimmy Vickers (Dyer) is on his way back from Afghanistan, hoping for a warm family welcome to wash away the memories of his Geneva Convention-flouting work for the Special Forces. But Jimmy...

New releases disappoint while Philomena quietly thriving – is UK box office keeping its powder dry before Hunger Games 2?
• More on the UK box office
• Gravity - review
• The Counselor - review
The winner
With a dip of just 14% from the previous weekend, Gravity easily resisted the challenge of a bunch of mid-level newcomers, retaining the box-office crown with £4.84m. After 11 days, Alfonso Cuarón's space-set drama has grossed an impressive £14.71m, with 3D contributing 90% of the tally.
Although Gravity has a long way to go to match the year's very biggest live-action hits such as Les Misérables, Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel, the film is a dead cert to be the top grosser for a film not based on an existing property or established characters. Currently, the top live-action non-sequel that is not based on familiar elements is Django Unchained, with £15.7m, although some might argue that Quentin Tarantino...

If there is one thing to be said of Danny Dyer, is that he wears his heart on his sleeve. The actor, renowned as much for his personality off screen as his characters on it, has never been one to shy away from saying what’s on his mind – and ahead of the release of his latest picture Vendetta, we had the pleasure in discussing with him what has been something of a turbulent career.
In this honest interview, Dyer speaks candidly about his work – and describes some of the mistakes he feels he has made, and why he should be taken more seriously as an actor. He tells us why he likes to make films that you ‘f****** hate’, his work with Harold Pinter, and how he can’t seem to avoid calling actor Adam Woodyatt ‘Ian Beale’ since joining the cast of Eastenders…
Warning: This interview contains A Lot of swearing.

Don Jon (18)
(Joseph Gordon-Levitt, 2013, Us) Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, Tony Danza, Glenne Headly. 90 mins
Never one to shy away from a risky project, Gordon-Levitt dives into sexual politics and pornography addiction for his first directing job, and just about pulls it off. He's charming as ever, playing a cocksure Italian-American casanova who secretly prefers online onanism to real sex – until dream girl Johanssen prompts him to take a hold of himself. It's snappy, funny, and pertinent, though the Noo Joisey stereotyping is an unnecessary let-down.
The Butler (12A)
(Lee Daniels, 2013, Us) Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, David Oyelowo. 132 mins
Old school but illuminating take on American history and the civil rights struggle, viewed through the eyes of a black White House butler who served eight presidents. The dazzling cast is almost a distraction,...

Martin and Gary are back, in Danny Dyer gangster movie Assassin
• Martin and Gary Kemp: 'We complement each other'
The good news: Martin and Gary Kemp are to be reunited on the big screen for the first time since their critically-acclaimed performances in 1991's The Krays. The less good: the former members of 80s new romantic act Spandau Ballet are set to appear in a Danny Dyer gangster movie.
Titled Assassin, the new film has Jk Amalou on board as writer-director. The Kemps will play London gangsters the Albert brothers, with Dyer himself set for the lead as a professional contract killer who discovers his latest target is the estranged father of the woman he loves.
Producer Jonathan Sothcott, whose credits include infamous 2012 low budget turkey Strippers vs Werewolves (which took just £38 in its first week at the UK box office) is working with Dyer on a number of new films.

Much like Hummingbird will see Jason Statham take on a role we’re not used to seeing him play, the vigilante action movie Vendetta promises to show a new side to Danny Dyer this year, too.
Anchor Bay have announced that they’ve acquired both the UK and Australian rights from Jonathan Sothcott’s Richwater Films. And with Vendetta expected to hit UK cinemas towards the end of the year, the first trailer has landed online.
Special ops interrogation officer Jimmy Vickers tracks down a gang who slaughtered his parents. With police closing in & his old unit on his trail, he has to to evade capture long enough to complete his gruesome crusade.
Dyer stars alongside Vincent Regan, Bruce Payne, Roxanne McKee, Nick Nevern, Emma Samms, and Ricci Harnett
Stephen Reynolds (The Fall of the Essex Boys) directs from his own script, with Sothcott (Devil’s Playground, Eflie Hopkins) producing.

Cinema is full of dark visions of the future. Here are the ones we're really hoping never actually happen...
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
Why are we so drawn to dystopian visions of our future? There’s something compelling about these gritty, dirty, hopeless settings of oppressive state control that keeps us coming back to them time and time again in books, film and TV.
It’s probably schadenfreude. We see the poor downtrodden masses and think, “There but for the grace of random fluctuations in the space/time continuum go I”. Either that or we just like to get a heads up on what the real future is almost certianly going to look like.
Some of the societies listed below got grim and grimy because of circumstances way beyond people’s control, though most came about through our collective greed, ingenuity and obsession with robots.
