Over the course of its soon-to-be four-season run, “The Good Place” has notoriously avoided spoilers. Trailers have been sparse-to-nonexistent, teases have been oblique, and cast and crew have been visibly afraid to discuss unaired episodes for fear of giving away precious plot points.
So it’s at least a tiny bit shocking that “The Good Place: The Selection” exists. A series of a half-dozen two-minute shorts that serve as a thematic and narrative handshake between Seasons 3 and 4 of the show, all of these mini-episodes are set in The Bad Place. Following the compromise that bought Michael, Eleanor, and the rest of the crew one last chance to save themselves from an eternity of suffering, “The Selection” tracks the efforts of Shawn (Marc Evan Jackson) and his Bad Place underlings to find people that will help their side emerge victorious.

The search for Spock is over: Star Trek: Discovery has cast Ethan Peck to play the iconic Vulcan in Season 2 of the CBS All Access drama, TVLine has learned.
The famously logical science officer was played by Leonard Nimoy on the original Star Trek TV series, and then by Zachary Quinto in the recent reboot films. “We searched for months for an actor who would, like them, bring his own interpretation to the role,” showrunner Alex Kurtzman said in a statement. “An actor who would, like them, effortlessly embody Spock’s greatest qualities, beyond obvious logic: empathy, intuition, compassion, confusion,...

Here is the latest spin on the reality-competition genre. ABC has set a premiere date for Castaways, which it describes as “testing the human need for companionship under extreme circumstances as each individual learns there are other castaways out there but are unaware of how many, their locations or when they will be rescued.”
The show premieres at 10 Pm Tuesday, August 7, after the Season 5 premiere of Bachelor in Paradise. Watch the first-look trailer above.
In what feels something like Survivor-meets-an unscripted Lost, Castaways follows 12 diverse individuals — “strangers torn from their ordinary lives,” the trailer stresses — as they’re dropped alone throughout various islets in Indonesia and challenged to survive among washed-up luggage, scattered resources and abandoned structures.
Logline continued: The only way to leave the remote islands is to persevere long enough to be rescued or to quit. As dramatic situations unfold on an expanse of islands in the South Pacific,...

The CW wants to stay in business with Israeli actress Yael Grobglas. The network first cast the virtual unknown last year as the lead in drama pilot The Selection, and she recently finished a six-episode arc on Reign. Now the CW has tapped Grobglas again, this time for Jane The Virgin, which also has added Brett Dier (Diary Of A Wimpy Kid) and Andrea Navedo (One Life To Live). Based on the successful Venezuelan telenovela Juana la Virgen, Jane The Virgin centers on Jane (Gina Rodriguez), a hardworking religious girl who, due to a series of outrageous events, is accidentally artificially inseminated. Grobglas, with UTA, Thruline and attorney Jamie Feldman, will play Monica, who is left reeling when her husband’s sperm is used to inseminate the wrong girl. Dier, repped by Gersh and Red Talent Management, will play Michael, a cop and Jane’s steadfast boyfriend who has secrets of his own.

Supernatural is one of The CW’s longest running series to date, recently having been renewed for a tenth season, and it has finally earned itself a spinoff with the upcoming Supernatural: Tribes.
The spinoff isn’t a new concept for the network, which capitalized on the success of one of its other anchor dramas, The Vampire Diaries, with spinoff series The Originals last fall. Aussie Nathaniel Buzolic and Brit Lucien Laviscount have landed the leads in Supernatural: Tribes, the planted Supernatural spinoff, which will air as an episode of the veteran sci-fi series on April 29. The choices blend the CW‘s strategies of casting standout players from its existing series as pilot leads, which is the case with Buzolic, a recurring on The Vampire Diaries and guest star on offshoot The Originals in his role as Kol, as well as bringing completely new faces, like Laviscount, whose only U.S. series credit is an arc on the BBC/Showtime comedy Episodes. Other recent examples include Arrow star Stephen Amell, who first appeared on Tvd, and the star of last year’s The Selection pilot, Yael Groblas, who had no previous U.S. credits. (She now recurs on the CW’s Reign.) The CW also first cast Laviscount in The Selection last year, making this...

Michael Malarkey is on his way to Mystic Falls.
The actor will come on board multiple episodes of The Vampire Diaries Season 5 as Enzo, described by Deadline insiders as a "charismatic but tortured" figure from Damon Salvatore's past.
It's unclear what brings Enzo to town, but he'll look to reconnect with his former friend and debut on December 5.
Malarkey has a history with The CW: he was cast as the male lead in The Selection pilot, a drama that did not get picked up this past season by the network.
But the young actor clearly made an impression.
And he won't be the only person to blast from a Salvatore brother's past this fall: Janina Gavankar has been cast as Stefan's ex and will make her first appearance on The Vampire Diaries next week.

"Reign's" Mary better watch her back -- a new lady is coming to court, and she's got her eyes set on Mary's betrothed! This could spell trouble for Mary and the two countries relying on her impending marriage.
The CW's new period drama just cast Yael Grobglas (one of the stars of The CW's failed pilot "The Selection") to play a romantic threat in Season 1, E! News reports. She will take on the role of Olivia, an Italian noblewoman who has romantic history with Prince Francis (Toby Regbo). Her reappearance at court under extreme circumstances threatens Francis' new, and highly important, engagement with Mary Stuart (Adelaide Kane).
"Reign" also recently cast the recurring roles of Holby City as Luke Roberts -- an English diplomat -- and Katie Boland as Clarissa -- a strange woman with a disfigured face, causing her to hide in the shadows.

The world of Warehouse 13 just became a little more awesome. Known for being on a network that celebrates science fiction and nerd culture in general, Warehouse 13 naturally attracts various actors well known to the various fandoms. One fandom in particular, the one belonging to Joss Whedon, will be pleased to hear a former Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast member will guest star in a big way on Warehouse. Due to the many hints that have been left for fans to pick up on, it shouldn’t be too difficult to figure out who it will be. Still, I’ll go ahead and just say it: Anthony Head is our special guest star!
You should immediately recognize him as Rupert Giles, but he obviously won’t be known as that going into his role on Warehouse. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Head will have a major recurring part in...

Anthony Head has joined "Warehouse 13" for three episodes of season 4.5 of the Syfy drama.
According to THR, Head -- otherwise known as Giles of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" -- will appear as a villain named Paracelsus with all other details being kept under wraps.
"Warehouse 13," which stars Eddie McClintock, Joanne Kelly and more, is hardly Head's only TV gig these days. In March, it was announced that he had joined The CW's "The Selection" as King Clarkson, the ruler of a future nation in the "Hunger Games"-like pilot set 300 years in the future.
Season 4.5 of "Warehouse 13" kicks off on April 29 at 10 p.m. Et on Syfy.

"Warehouse 13" has cast "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" actor Anthony Head as a villain called Paracelsus. Head's role on the Syfy series will begin with the final three episodes of Season 4.5 this spring and summer.
The casting news was first announced by The Hollywood Reporter, but no details about the character -- other than the fact that he will be a bad guy -- made available. Head is but one of several guest stars already announced for the upcoming episodes, including Joel Grey, Enrico Colantoni, Missi Pyle, Polly Walker, Nora Zehetner, Kelly Hu and Steve Valentine.
While we don't know anything for sure about Head's future character, the name -- Paracelsus -- might give some clues. If you're an avid "Harry Potter" fan, you may recognize the name from a Chocolate Frog card in the series' first book. For you medieval history buffs out there, the actual Paracelsus was a...

Rosa Salazar (Parenthood) has been cast in Fox‘s drama pilot Boomerang, from John Wells Prods. and Warner Bros TV. It is about the Hamiltons — parents (Anthony Lapaglia and Felicity Huffman) and grownup sons (Michael Stahl-David and Patrick Heusinger) — who serve as assassins for the federal government. Salazar, repped by Seven Summits and TalentWorks, plays Olive, the ex-girlfriend who Sam (Stahl-David) has never forgotten. The casting stems from the talent deal Fox signed with Salazar following her co-starring role on the network’s comedy pilot Little Brother last year. She recently guest starred on Fox’s Ben & Kate. Brit Ben Aldridge, repped by Anonymous and Hamilton/Hodell, rounds out the regular cast of the CW/Wbtv pilot The Selection. He plays Prince Rafe, the younger brother of Prince Maxon (Michael Malarkey) who loves his country and takes his leadership role seriously — but he does have a secret. Evie Thompson has...
