Essentially just another run-of-the-mill horror anthology...

Needless to say that I hadn't heard about this 2023 horror anthology titled "American Terror Tales 2" prior to stumbling upon it by random chance. And with it being a horror movie, I didn't know it was an anthology, of course I opted to watch it. Sure, I had not watched the 2020 "American Terror Tales" prior to watching part 2. But I figured that hardly was an issue.

"American Terror Tales 2" boasts 'from the hottest directors in horror'; yeah, somehow I doubt that statement has an ounce of truth to it. But it makes for quite a statement nonetheless.

The first segment was titled "House of Profane", from writer and director Brad Twigg, and while it made for an adequate enough viewing, the storyline just didn't really seem all that structured or thought through.

"Billy", from writer and director Joe Lujan, is the second segment in the anthology. It is actually well-written, and it makes for a nice viewing experience. However, the ending of this segment was rather anti-climatic and left for much to be desired.

The third and final segment, from writer and director George James Fraser, is titled "Balletomane". This was the most pointless and irrelevant of the three stories.

Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list in this 2023 anthology. The acting performances were, for the majority of the performers, actually fair, and that helped sitting through the anthology all the more bearable. I do enjoy watching unfamiliar talents and faces on the screen when I watch movies, I will admit that.

The make-up and special effects, for a low budget production such as "American Terror Tales 2" this was, are actually fairly adequate. And I will say that they definitely helped to keep the anthology afloat. Sure, there were some laughable and cringeworthy effects as well, but in general it was actually not all too shabby.

"American Terror Tales 2" is a low budget horror anthology that is made by people with a keen interest and love for the horror genre, that much is shown throughout the course of the 73 minutes that the anthology ran for.

My rating of "American Terror Tales 2" lands on a very generous three out of ten stars.
