You know what the most important thing about a good TV show is? The ability to watch it from start to finish. And that doesn't always happen – just ask fans of The Santa Clarita Diet, The Great, or The Oa.
Sci-fi fans on Reddit have compiled their list of shows that were killed off too soon.
1.Firefly, 2002
In 2002, one of the biggest cancellations in television history occurred: Fox canceled Joss Whedon's Firefly. It's hard to describe the shock and anger of the fan community.
The fans of the series tried to contact the network executives who had made such an awful decision with all the means at their disposal: petitions, letters, phone calls, and pickets at the studio doors.
It's no wonder that more than twenty years later, Firefly remains the biggest wound in the hearts of sci-fi fans.
2. Almost Human, 2013-2014

If you're not snorting up "Cocaine Bear" this weekend, you might want to find your way over to "Linoleum," a new drama starring Jim Gaffigan that debuted at the 2022 South By Southwest Film Festival and is currently playing in select theaters across the United States. Written and directed by Colin West, the film follows Gaffigan as Cameron, an astronomer who once dreamed of being an astronaut but settled for creating and hosting "Above and Beyond," a Bill Nye-esque educational program that airs in the not-so-primetime-slot at midnight, despite being geared towards kids.
Cameron is about to drown in a midlife crisis. His wife Erin (Rhea Seehorn of "Better Call Saul") wants a divorce, and his father's dementia is getting worse. Adding to his troubles, PBS is picking up his science program, but Cameron being replaced as the host by Kent Armstrong (a role also played by Gaffigan donning an...

At the 2022 South by Southwest Film Festival, comedian Jim Gaffigan delivered a fantastic performance playing two different characters in Colin West's puzzling and poignant drama "Linoleum." The film follows Gaffigan as Cameron Edwin (Jim Gaffigan), the host of a failing children's science TV show called "Above & Beyond" who has always had aspirations of being an astronaut. But suddenly, a mysterious space-race era satellite coincidentally falls from space and lands in his backyard, forcing him to relocate to his sister-in-law's house with his wife (Rhea Seehorn), who is looking to get a divorce. Things only get worse when a doppelgänger named Kent, a real astronaut who looks suspiciously like a younger, clean-cut, uptight Cameron, moves into his neighborhood and steals his TV show. Meanwhile, Cameron strikes up a friendship with Kent's teenage son (Gabriel Rush), who also takes a liking to Cameron's daughter (Katelyn Nacon).

On April 8th, 1988, Columbia Records released Rodney Crowell’s breakthrough album, Diamonds & Dirt. Having released his debut LP Ain’t Living Long Like This a full decade earlier for Warner Bros., the former guitarist in Emmylou Harris’ Hot Band had, in his estimation, finally made a record his father would enjoy. While his earlier efforts veered into rock & roll territory, Diamonds & Dirt was a sharp, focused — but never pandering — stab at widespread commercial acceptance. How widespread was that acceptance? Five consecutive Number One singles. . . a full 50% of the original album’s 10 cuts.

The Women’s Image Awards has announced its 2018 nominations, with the BBC miniseries “Little Women” that aired on PBS’ “Masterpiece” series earning a leading six bids on the TV side. As for films, “Mary Queen of Scots” secured five spots on the ballot, followed by the Ruth Bader Ginsberg biopic “On the Basis of Sex” and Melissa McCarthy’s “Can Your Ever Forgive Me,” both with four.
Given the #MeToo and Time’s Up movement’s push against sexual harassment and lack of equal opportunity for women in Hollywood, the fact that an organization like Women’s Image Awards exists is more important than ever. NBC News is shaking up the typical methodology of promoting evening news with a new campaign aimed at getting viewers to watch more of Lester Holt.
Current promos for “NBC Nightly News” show the anchor talking to people whose lives have been torn apart by massive flooding. “Sometimes, it’s nice to see all the good out there,” he says in narration. But a new effort slated to launch Friday evening amps up the action, and features a whirlwind of jump-cut images depicting Holt talking to a pilot in a plane; stepping along while covering wildfires; and interviewing President Donald Trump in a landmark exchange from May of 2017. NBC News correspondents Hallie Jackson and Kristen Welker are also shown at work.
Words superimposed over the scenes tell viewers they “get the story….as if you were there.” The images may come even faster and more furiously than those used in...
