Great stuff )
Alex-Akh18 May 2023
It's hilarious how several Russian government deputies got mad over this episode. It's kind of sad how accurately this episode depicted several aspects of the lifestyle in rural Russia. The fact that some reviews claim that the West is demonizing Russia shows that they have never watched Russian news about the West. The portrayal of the West in Russian news is often negative, emphasizing how horrible it is to live there and portraying it as one of the worst places to reside. At least with this episode, it's an animation and not a literal main country channel.

The contrasting narratives presented in Russian news about the West and vice versa underscore the role of media in shaping public perceptions. Both sides often employ propaganda and selective reporting to further their own agendas. However, it is essential to recognize the value of diverse perspectives and critical thinking, particularly when consuming information from different sources.

An American Dad-Family Guy comparison and Meg
vuileharry2 May 2023
People who are not really interested, or already have their judgement ready before actually watching something, very often take just a quick look at Family Guy and American Dad and say: "Oh it's basically the same show...."

But there are so many BIG differences!! And to name one: American Dad is actually RIDICULOUSLY consistent with characters and occurances! Seriously, if Stan told a weird neighbor he smells bad today, there is a good chance that four seasons later you find that neighbor is STILL pissed about that. And Family Guy being the exact opposite: not taking stories or even themselves seriously at all, and if Lois loses her leg in this scene, it's completely up to the Family Guy Gods if that is still the case even two minutes later... and I love both shows for being EXACTLY what they are!

So me being the type of fan that actually remembers Meg has not been Meg for a long time now since she was murdered and replaced by a Russian look-a-like clone agent, when Meg started speaking Russian in this episode I immediatly thought: "oooh they're gonna play that storyline now!"

But no, it was completely unrelated and Meg is still really Meg and this is NOT American Dad. I really enjoyed this episode. It wasn't the best ever and the 'laugh-or-grin' ratio was definitely a bit low... But that was well compensated by TWO actually fun storylines that kept me engaged and smiling throughout the whole episode. I wasn't bored or annoyed even for a second, I had fun, and am looking forward to the 'sequel' to this next week! A couple more real laughs would be nice though ;-)

Warning: Spoilers
Well, we had to get a ridiculous amount of anti-Russian propaganda in this one, but if you can get past that there were some mildly clever jabs here and there were some moments that genuinely made me laugh. The bit about Brian's disturbing search history for Zendaya was funny, but poorly written as why would he send messages to her Disney persona? He would just.... I don't want to even go down that road.

Family Guy's best days are long behind it, but at least there are some good laughs still week to week. Always sad when the season wraps up and if this is the quality we get for as long as the show remains on the air, I guess I'll be okay with that.

Great Episode
byrdboyce8 May 2023
A lot of storylines that are politically current. People think there was a lot of anti-Russian propaganda in the show, so what? It is politically current for what is going on in the world today. People who regularly watch the show, should be used to jabs made at other issues in the news. It was a good episode with solid stories for all of the characters involved. It was one of the top episodes of this season. It gave Meg a story that was something besides her being depressed all the time. These last two episodes work well together. Funny and clever, all the way around. Even with Chris. Not PC.

Don't piss off Mother Russia
StarfieJId1 May 2023
Demonization of Russia and distortion of facts. Even stereotypical jokes have a limit. Google Chelyabinsk, it's a beautiful Russian city, like most other cities in Russia. Seth, but in Russia Griffins are very popular, don't lose your audience. Oh, and by the way, what are the 12 digits of your card and the mother's maiden name. Ha-haa! By the way, regarding the distortion of facts: Chicago Ural is called Yekaterinburg (the most interesting thing is that it was called that by the American ambassador), and not Chelyabinsk, also a beautiful city. After reading this review, check your Instagram account, a well-known fact: all Russians are hackers playing the balalaika with a bottle of vodka in their hands.

Not cool

Disappointed, to say the least.

I have been watching this show since 2006. Loved all seasons up until recently. Where are the cutaways??? Jokes becoming more common and boring.

Anyway, never thought I'd find time to leave a comment but here goes...

Good old western propaganda of bad & ugly Russians. Honestly thought and hoped this one show, which I love and have watched for over 10 yrs, wouldn't follow this narrative. Episode for uneducated and ignorant really. We all learnt by now that demonising particular nations for so many years says a lot about those who are demonising and taking part in this...hm?
