Typical of shows of this ilk, overcompensating for years of female misrepresentation as dim and unable, all male characters are presented here as complete and utter dimwits, devoid of any intelligence or competence. But all the women are calm & collected and, in a word, brilliant. Only the male child has any semblance of being capable at anything beyond bumbling through his life. It's not charming, it's not humorous, it's insulting to everyone. Mmm, just like the old days.
Overcorrection is not the solution. Alienating half your audience is not sustainable. Force-feeding these judgy-scapes onto the viewers isn't elevating the mistakes of the past out of the gutter, it's only putting a glossy sheen over it. In the cold light of day, it's still detritus.
Which is sad, because the story itself is worthy of telling, despite being somewhat hokey and filled with holiday goodies, the usual tripe. If thinly veiled self-righteous retributive deprecation is your only sense of what humour is, you've missed the point of equality. Blowback begets blowback. Self-congratulatory pats on the back all around.
