In two weeks, vampires, cannibals, Halloween frights and more will grace the screen at the Muvico Theater in Rosemont, Illinois for Bruce Cambell's Horror Film Festival. Now a telekinetic kid and and an apocalypse have joined the killer lineup, as both June and JeruZalem will make their U.S. premieres at the festival.
Press Release: "Chicago, Illinois (August 6, 2015) – The second annual Bruce Campbell Horror Film Festival presented by Wizard World, running August 20 – 23 at the Muvico Theater in Rosemont, Illinois (9701 Bryn Mawr Ave., Rosemont), is proud to announce the addition of two more films to the already bursting schedule.
June, starring Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers) and Kennedy Brice (The Walking Dead), tells the story of nine-year-old June (Brice), who has been shuffled in and out of foster homes for years. Though she tries to be good, no matter where she goes a trail of chaos and terror seems to follow.

Dito Montiel is responsible for bringing out of Shia La Beouf one of his most empathetic performances with his directorial debut, A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints. Filmed in 2006 before the more-method-than-Brando actor embarked on a frankly loony series of highly-publicized stunts, he put in a solid turn. Now that the duo are collaborating once more for Man Down, it does bring into question La Beouf’s infamous bag-wearing incident, during which he made sure it was known he was out of the ‘biz.
In the film, La Beouf plays U.S. Marine Gabriel Drummer, who lives in a future American dystopia. Setting off to find his estranged wife (Kate Mara) and son, he brings along his best buddy Devin (Jai Courtney) and the pair commence on tracking down what remains of his family.

Back in September we learned that Shia Labeouf, Kate Mara and Gary Oldman were set to star in Dito Montiel’s Man Down. The psychological thriller was penned by Adam Simon (Synapse) and we have the very first look at the movie to share with you below. I know many of you are not too high on Labeouf but I’ve always enjoyed his screen presence even when the material is a little disjointed (think Eagle Eye). He brought some of his best work with Fury last month so hopefully...

Adam Simon is an up-and-coming filmmaker out of Los Angeles, CA. His story is an amazing one of blood, sweat, tears, cement slabs and the American dream. Adam has been writing and putting together films for years, only recently getting connected with the right people who have catapulted his indie films into the forefront. Adam is also partnered with the awesome Rob Prior who is an amazing artist in the comic and filmmaking industry. Both have put together a few films, one of which is going to be in limited release here in Richmond in November at another event. His first Indie film project is Synapse; Joshua Alba (Alpha Dog), Sofina Brown (CSI) and Henry Simmons (NYPD Blue). Synapse is a gritty cop drama in a science fiction setting following a DEA agent hunting down a memory dealer that has a secret in his mind that threatens to unravel society.

• Once he takes off his Batman cape, Ben Affleck will direct Sienna Miller, Zoe Saldana and Elle Fanning in the Prohibition Era film Live By Night. Affleck has adapted the Dennis Lehane novel himself, reuniting the pair after Affleck’s feature debut Gone Baby Gone, which was also based on a Lehane novel. The story centers around Joe Coughlin, the police captain’s son who gets himself involved in the world of organized crime. Miller will play Emma, the girlfriend of Coughlin’s mobster boss whom he falls in love with. Saldana has been cast as Graciella Suarez, a woman Coughlin meets in Tampa,...

Perhaps the only good film that director Dito Montiel has delivered was his 2006 directorial debut A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. And now maybe he can get back to making good movies as a press release from The Solution Entertainment Group has revealed that Montiel will reteam with recently troubled actor Shia Labeouf, one of the stars of the aforementioned film (who isn't supposed to be famous anymore), for a new thriller called Man Down. The film follows a haunted Afghanistan war veteran who attempts to come to terms with his past while searching for his family out in a post-apocalyptic America. In addition, "House of Cards" star Kate Mara and the always incredible Gary Oldman are set to star in the film as well. The script comes from Adam Simon (Synapse), and the logline certainly sounds like something different for Montiel. After all, we're not sure why there's a post-apocalyptic world in the film,...

Director Dito Montiel (“A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints,” “Fighting”) has a new film and he’s scored a whale of cast. Shia Labeouf, Kate Mara and Gary Oldman have all signed on to join his latest, “Man Down.” Written by Adam Simon (“Synapse”), the “psychological thriller” tells the story of a haunted Afghanistan war veteran who attempts to come to terms with his past while searching for his family in a post-apocalyptic America. We’ll assume the war veteran is Labeouf, but the press release doesn’t specify. Hopefully he and Oldman don’t bump heads too much, but maybe this is a decent sign that “I’m Not Famous Anymore” is tired of the shenanigans and is getting ready to go back to work. The movie is in pre-production now and starts shooting in October. Ok, our man in Telluride didn’t really care for “Wild,” the follow-up...
