A story with a plan.
silerjustind4 October 2023
This episode proced that Dave Filoni has a plan for the Star Wars stories he's working on. Nothing is tied up with a bow, everything is left uncertain. But Ahsoka, Sabine, and Ezra continue to grow and be the incredible characters we met in Rebels.

Ahsoka is understanding what it takes to be a Master and Sabine is learning to trust Ahaoka's judgement. Ezra is still the energetic ball of positivity he's always been. Thrawn is still calculating and cool under pressure.

This who season was a live letter to Clone award, Rebels, and Star Wars itself. I am truly excited for what's to come. May the force be with you.

Outstanding coda to season one
kenstallings-653464 October 2023
This was a very well produced eight episode season one. The coda was particularly strong, featuring action from beginning to end, with a nice cliffhanger portending to season two, and a satisfying send off for a final scene.

Though, with the ending, and the subsequent death of co-star Ray Stevenson, one wonders how that character in season two will flesh out. No spoilers here, so one will have to watch the episode to determine the details.

However, the final scene is emotional and quite uplifting, which is what the producers were hoping for no doubt. Combined with a picture perfect performance by Lars Mikkelson as Thrawn, and one sees that character in full development as a pure warrior who values strategy but combines it with a total lack of morality.

We finally get to see a long series of light saber action, from all three characters, as they work well in their efforts against overwhelming odds. These efforts underpin the episode and add great promise to future efforts to come.

Lots of fun, plenty of great moments but a tad disappointing
maxglen4 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After a mostly strong season of television, Ahsoka comes to a close with an action packed chase to stop Grand Admiral Thrawn from escaping Peridea and returning to the core worlds to reunite the Empire. Pretty much every scene was packed with explosions and laser bolts and lightsabers galore and it's a nice change of pace to get a (somewhat) downer ending, similar to The Empire Strikes Back but I can't help feeling a tad disappointed and I'll tell ya why. It's no surprise that the season left us with a cliffhanger and plenty of questions, tv shows do it all the time but, considering we know Filoni is directing a Mandoverse movie with Thrawn as the big baddie and that a Mandalorian season 4 is currently undergoing pre-production, it is likely that the story of this show will be continued and possibly concluded in those projects which would make Ahsoka feel like a less complete package on it's own. But, this is all hypothetical at the moment and I won't let it budge my opinions too much until we know more. What does upset me is the lack of Baylan and Shin in this episode. Shin is briefly seen arriving at a camp of natives, presumably to live among them after Baylan's departure in the last episode and Baylan puts in a practically blink and you'll miss it appearance in a foreboding scene where we get a cool little appearance of the Mortis gods (in statue form) but, as we all know, Ray Stevenson tragically passed away before the show was released, meaning this cliffhanger and his character arc will never be fulfilled. Of course this is out of the creator's hands but it still feels like it hampers the narrative of the show as a whole for me. Pair this with the fact that we still don't know what was in those caskets and this season has left us with almost entirely questions and no answers, BUT I don't like being a negative nelly so here's what I liked about this episode... The fights scenes were awesome. The skirmish with the Night Troopers, both pre and post zombification, the duels with Morgan and Ahsoka which probably had the best fight choreography we've seen in Disney's live action Star Wars projects, the effects were very impressive as we've come to expect and Lars Mikkelsen just oozes every iota of what Thrawn should be as a villain. I like that Ezra was the one to get home instead of Sabine, Ahsoka and Huyang. I had a sneaking suspicion Ezra was gonna be left stranded (again) but I'm glad to report that wasn't the case. And, of course, I have to mention Sabine, who finally understands what it means to be a padawan.

Overall a very solid piece of TV with a few personal gripes from yours truly. Thank you for reading my review if you got this far and I'll see you next time, a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

Very good finale but short and should have done more
namob-436734 October 2023
This show has been excellent. One of the best TV shows to come out in the past years, and it outshines everything else Disney has done in a long while, including most movies.

They did not completely nail the landing though, and it is mainly because of the short runtime. 20min more and this would likely been another 10/10. We did not get a proper finale for our two new characters, and it would have been interesting to see at least one more scene of Thrawn back in the main galaxy. Not to mention the Mortis God's and all that comes with that. It is good to tease and end in a cliffhanger, but I think this was a bit too much, almost annoying. A small complaint is that the episode also felt more like a video game rather than TV episode. It was almost like you could feel the level up and boss fights.

Everything else was great as usual. The music score is so good in this show. Not just the music, but the entire sound design is so amazing.

Great ending to the first season, but I want more, and we probably should have got more. 8/10.

Potential
elijahglobal4 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I will give this episode a 9/10, and I will tell you why. A few reasons, really.

First, let's admit that this is really Rebels part 2, the whole season. The nostalgia and characters hit hard in live action with reconnections all around. Ezra even built Kanan's saber and that just broke my heart. All of which amounts to several stars.

Secondly, the lightsaber combat was, in my opinion, some of the best we've seen in a while. I felt like other fights were rough in earlier episodes but these were done well. Ahsoka actually used her sabers well. A star for that.

Third, CGI and effects felt strong to me personally, and I appreciated them.

Fourth, though Baylen and Shin were missing for all but a brief glimpse, that look was everything. Their paths and destiny were fully shown without a word of dialogue or barely any action. For a series where they're only side parts, we love them and the potential is everything. This hints at greatness.

Fifth, Thrawn. He's rational, decisive, and made good on his threat. I felt like his every action had meaning, and for a villain he still holds very strong.

All in all, I felt this warranted a 9/10. Yes it had a moment where Sabine crashed through two TIEs. Yes she has the Force now, although I felt like it worked. Yes we wanted more, and especially more of Baylen and Shin. Does it promise more? Absolutely! Easter eggs were all around, and so was nostalgia. The last shot especially.

I feel good about was I just saw, and I feel like for how short it was, it absolutely delivered. The series just kept getting better. I sincerely hope we see more. Thanks. RIP Ray, you legacy is loved.

I shed a tear during this

How what a finale to cap off a fantastic season of just pure Star Wars and has left me with so many more questions and hope of what is too come on Dave Filoni's master plan.

Star Wars is once again to be shown in Dave's safe hands. All of the cast put on a stellar performance that had me hooked to the screen in anticipation of what was going to happen next in a unpredictable episode. It's still a huge shame Ray isn't here to witness the fantastic reaction towards his character. Ezra is Ezra he's just like him jumping from the cartoon to live action superbly

The ship scene made me cry. If you know you know.

Cliff hanger Can't wait for season 2
moviesfilmsreviewsinc4 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ahsoka, a new Star Wars show, has been a bold exploration of the show's stranger side, featuring elements not previously seen in live-action works. The show's season finale aims to finish the story arc presented in the first two episodes and set up the next for the characters. Rick Famuyiwa, the Mandalorian veteran director and executive producer, returns to wrap up season 5 of Star Wars Rebels, which has largely felt Force-centric. His work in this season is not as clean and energetic as his work in season 3 of The Mandalorian, but he feels comfortable playing in the ever-growing Star Wars sandbox. Disney Plus offers 10 episodes of Star Wars to watch before and after Ahsoka, along with the best Star Wars movies and TV shows. In the finale, Grand Admiral Thrawn uses the Great Mothers' magick, despite a tease at the end of episode 6. Morgan Elsbeth, a loyal servant, finds Thrawn and allows him to return to the galaxy to rebuild the Galactic Empire. Elsbeth becomes a true Witch of Dathomir and receives Mother Talzin's sword from the Great Mothers. The heroes prepare for the inevitable battle, as they lack the means to leave the galaxy on their own. Ezra Bridger remains stuck in Peridea, while Padawan learns about his late master and builds a new lightsaber to become a Jedi. While we were expecting him to remain a monk-like warrior, he can't resist a good lightsaber fight. Ahsoka and Sabine Wren discuss their rift and Ahsoka's mistake, with Lady Tano forgiven after her near-death experience. This bonding is interrupted when TIE fighters attack the Noti caravan and Ahsoka's Jedi shuttle, causing Thrawn to deactivate their primary means of transport. However, Thrawn knows that Jedi are persistent, especially if related to Anakin Skywalker. Howlers are the most useful creatures in recent Star Wars memory, only behind purrgils. The final shot of Force ghost Anakin at peace and proud of his apprentice elevates his character and Hayden Christensen's role in the larger Star Wars story. Despite early pacing issues and head-scratching moments, the story has its heart in the right place and adds compelling ways to the larger mythos, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next installment. The Jedi trio, with just two mounts, set off to ruin Thrawn's departure. The Chiss leader tries to wear down the team with a turbolaser bombardment, but it barely scratches them due to plot armor. The bonding and reminiscing stop when the Jedi trio is attacked by the Chiss leader, who uses a turbolaser bombardment to wear down the team. The Star Wars series follows three Jedi as they navigate an ancient structure below the Chimaera, battling a group of "night troopers." However, the use of Volume, the LED screens used for backgrounds, is poor, causing some immersion loss. Despite being directed by Famuyiwa, the final result is not great, making it unclear whether the VFX and CG process was rushed to meet the deadline. The Jedi action is characterized by Ahsoka's defensive stance and Ezra's Force-powered martial arts. Sabine's physical performance is underdeveloped, but her Mandalorian experience is useful, even allowing Ahsoka to switch to blasters. The series features an unorthodox group of Jedi Knights, highlighting the need for improvement in the VFX and CG process.

A Satisfying Finale with excellent opportunities for future advancements.
shanessavage4 October 2023
Overall the series was about as good as you'd expect it to be being helmed by the legend that is Dave Filoni. The stories told here are pure and genuine Star Wars and is a long time fan, so many of the moments made me smile from ear to ear but a pure fan service and satisfying payoff to these characters we're all connected to. By episode 7, which uncoincidentally carried into 8, it was very clear that the series was setting up a bigger more engrossing story than a relatively short eight episode series could contain. The story presented heredid a very good job of setting up the foundations for a very exciting chapter in Star Wars future. The surprise standouts of Shin and Baylan were a welcomed addition to Star Wars. With emotional appearances from fan favorite characters, satisfying returns of ones long missing and a story potential that is far more exciting than what we've already seen, I cannot wait to see where this goes.

Overall I give the show an easy 8/10. With a bit of the usual Star Wars fun over logic (like their indestructible ship, orbital Star Destroyer bombardments being dodged by left and right movements and the usual main character plot armors), inconsistent pacing, relatively stiff acting from some newcomers, an over-reliance on fan service for the Twitter moments, and then an ending that is sort of a set up to future ideas rather than a satisfying conclusion what was presented, that's all that really held this back for me.

What did get was an outstanding soundtrack, beautiful directing, exciting action sequences, fun and engaging characters with a storyline tight enough to get it all together to work well enough to keep you enthralled for what's to come. Well done!

Warning: Spoilers
I wanted more Ezra. It seems like they pushed him aside. The overall plot is amazing and very well-thought-out. It had the same feeling as watching the last season of Clone Wars, Rebels, and the first season of Mandalorian all in one. I loved the characters and the cliffhanger at the end has me excited for the future. The little details for the true fans are well-appreciated and made the episode so much more engaging. I just wanted more of Ezra in this episode. He was just kind of passed over and did not really play an important part in the plot. They should have given him more screen time. Loved it!

I struggled with it
snoozejonc5 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ahasoka, Sabine and Ezra attempt to stop Thrawn's plan.

I think this has well made action, sci-fi, fantasy scenes that showcase some great visuals and spectacle, but it feels a galaxy far far away from the type of Star Wars stories and characters that got me interested in the franchise.

I think Rosario Dawson makes a very cool Jedi, likewise Natasha Liu Bordizzo is good as Sabine, but the writers have not given them the material that I find particularly interesting. Lars Mikkelsen's potential as an awesome baddy has so far been wasted, with Thrawn portrayed as an overly talky baddie who explains himself way too much for my liking. I think one limitation of the show for me is that, as viewer who has not seen the The Clone Wars nor Rebels, I find it difficult to invest in the characters.

There are certain moments that distract me to the point that it takes me out of the story. Sabine going from virtually an impotent force user to doing what she does in this episode feels contrived. Other scenes such as those involving Nightsisters and Zombie stormtroopers might be taken from tie-in novels and animated shows, but does not feel particularly Star Wars to me (much like space whales and Anakin having an apprentice). It feels like the writers have good ideas for swords and sorcery stories, but are using them somewhere they do not belong.

This is all down to personal taste on my part and I'm sure that countless others will find it enjoyable. I do not think the filmmaking or performances are in anyway bad, it just does not appeal to me.

It's a 5.5/10 for me, but I round upwards.

A thrilling and well concluded end
atkinsonlouise-738735 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ahsoka is over and I am sad, as it has been some great Star Wars television. This episode gave us some thrilling fight scenes and great pay offs to character arcs, while setting up that future film that has been heavily rumoured. The quieter moments did their job, whether that be Ezra constructing his lightsaber or the end scenes. The fights were thrilling and showed the power Thrawn and the Great Mothers had. Seeing Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine fight together was great and Sabine's struggle with the force was paid off. Each character by the end has learned a lesson, whilst coming to an acceptance in their current position. In particular, I am eager to see where Shin and Baylon's characters go, although how Baylon will be developed after Ray Stevenson's sad passing remains to be seen. A great end to what has been a thrilling show about learning to move on and accept your new place in the galaxy. Episode Score: 9/10 Series Score: 8.5/10.

Somewhat Disappointing
shoebsaad4 October 2023
While offering closure to some storylines, the "Ahsoka" Season 1 finale leaves much to be desired. Despite some intense lightsaber battles, emotional character arcs, and a few unexpected twists, it fails to deliver a genuinely satisfying conclusion. Viewers may find the pacing uneven, and some plot elements feel rushed or unresolved. While Rosario Dawson's performance as Ahsoka remains a highlight, the overall execution of the finale falls slightly short of the high expectations set by previous episodes. It's a somewhat disappointing end to an otherwise promising series, but nonetheless, I am eagerly waiting for the next chapter in Ahsoka's journey. Now I finally know what Thrawn is good at!!!
sadako114 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
He is an expert sending his people to death!!

He is in control of an army, zombies, a star destroyer and witches and he was unable to kill a single whale or a turtle or rat-dog, blow up Ahsoka's ship, or to make a single scratch on Ahsoka, Sabine or Ezra!

Thrawn barely escaped!!

Look how much trouble he has putting down Ahsoka's ship!! A single little ship!!!

He even allowed Ezra to escape with a ship!

In the previous episode master tactician Thrawn send fighters to put down Ahsoka's ship. They failed.

In this episode he send two tie-fighters to put down Ahsoka's ship and delay Ahsoka from reaching the Chimaera. They failed!

Our heroic trio used the rat-dogs to reach the Chimaera fast and Ahsoka's ship was fixed in 20 minutes. Oups!

Master tactician!! Not!!

Morgan is dead, two pilots dead, about 20+ stormtroopers dead, two tie-fighters destroyed and the temple destroyed. All this in about an hour! Good job Thrawn!!

The episode missed a good opportunity for great drama.

Does Ezra know that Sabine was the reason that Thrawn is able to return? There's no drama, no anger, for the person that sacrificed everything to keep Thrawn away.

Also, there was no sense of urgency! Our heroes are travelling with the turtles at about three miles per hour. Not a care in the world!

And Thrawn had difficulty finding them?!! Give me a break!!

I think this show set a new low for the stormtroopers uselessness!! They sucked sooo much!! I forgot about the zombitroopers! They are worse!

Don't get me started with the Morgan/Thrawn pilots! They have no idea how to shot a stationary target!!

With the exception of a couple of fights, all the lightsaber fights were very slow, uninspired and poorly choreograph.

You can see that Rosario did not trained enough. She was too slow and stiff.

Compare Ahsoka and Morgan in their final saber fight. Who had better fighting technique? Morgan! Why? Because the actress is in real life a martial artist trainer! Rosario did not have a chance fighting this woman!

Young Ahsoka's fighting technique in episode 5 was 10 times better than older Ahsoka.

To me the best saber sequence was the 10-15 seconds fight between young Ahsoka and Anakin.

This show overall was a big let down. So much potential waisted!

Pointless and shallow at the end.

Ahsoka was a poor main character. Boring all the way to the end. Sabine was a brat all the way to the end. Ezra was an bland empty shell. Thrawn turned out to be a moron with an accent.

These actors won't emote. Scenes that were supposed to be dramatic felt bland. I don't blame the actors. I think it was a directorial choice.

If the character won't express emotion, how can I feel something for them?

The only interesting characters were Baylan, Shin, Morgan and the witches.

Baylan and Shin needed more script. Both of them turned out to be too shallow.

Frankly I was rooting for the bad guys.

Better Than Expected
SHU_Movies4 October 2023
Every week I've said that the show has been great, but also that I've been nervous for the finale. A lot of Disney+ show finales (Star Wars and Marvel alike) have been of a... Let's say lower quality. And after the underwhelming finales of The Book Of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian Season 3, it made me very much anxious about the Ahsoka finale, especially after last week's episode left so much for the finale to do in a 45 minute runtime!

Fortunately, I was wrong. This finale was great and surpassed the honestly quite low expectations I had for it. It was fun, had some great fan service, an awesome soundtrack, and some fantastic lightsaber combat. That stuff aside, though, it's not an amazing ending. Some parts felt kind of corny, but it provided a solid ending to the series (or at least the season), and beautifully set-up whatever comes next in the 'Filoniverse' (which, for those who aren't huge Star Wars fans, is the name given to the side of the Star Wars universe that collects shows like The Mandalorian, The Book Of Boba Fett and Ahsoka).

AWESOME
wesleypeterredmond4 October 2023
There is only a few words that could describe such an episode as this. And I chose to use: AWESOME! I really liked the Sequel Trilogy. "Rogue One" and "Solo" were great! I loved "The Mandalorian"! "The Book of Boba Fett" was pretty good. "Andor" wasn't quite my cup of tea, but it was fine. And I immensely enjoyed "Obi-Wan Kenobi".

But nothing has thrilled me more than this episode!! I didn't want to get my hopes up for this show, but it definitely did not disappoint!

I can't wait for the next season! And I can't wait to see what they will do next in Star Wars!! The story they are setting up in their shows is going to be awesome!

May the Force be with you. Always.

Emotional and Epic
jameswyattranks4 October 2023
Wrapping up the season in a very interesting way. Such heartfelt moments, nostalgic moments, epic duels and teasing of significant things to come. The score is absolutely brilliant and the parallels are so clever.

I feel like our characters stories in this episode were handled in a satisfying way, I was concerned with how they would handle Sabine and Thrawn here but I was very pleased.

Sure there were still a few things that bothered me or failed to move me the way in which I would've wanted but there's just so much to appreciate in this episode in terms of detail and how it moves the story forward. Please give us that second season soon!

Possibly best SW episode
terrylarosa4 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The episode was mostly as I envisioned and wanted. With the three fighting off scores of Stormtroopers. What I didn't expect was for them to rise from the dead and continuing to fight. Spectacular action all around and the effects have been nothing but stellar. That was great as was the battle with the new witch. . Missed another encounter with Baylon but you can't have everything. Hope we get to find out what these statues were and why they were there. It'd be incredible if we didn't get a continuation with either a second season or a movie or two. If the horrendous Anbore got another season...........hope they do not plan to leave Ahsoka stuck there. I'm sure the detractors will find 20 things wrong with the episode since the only joy they get is from trashing everything. Now if only this was the galaxy where the Yuzhan Vong reside in.

Masterpiece ,extremely underrated show I cried so often during the finale , I loved it especially the cameos and the perfect acting . Rosario and Hayden deserve an Emmy ,their relationship is so emotional you can feel the adaptation from clone wars and rebels into live action !!!!!! Also Sabine was so much more sympathetic , still wish some other crew members would return but hopefully in season 2 ! Anyways this show is great !! Also the last scene made me emotional between two characters from rebels (one of them returned) . The relationship between Ahsoka and Sabine is so exiting can't wait for more.

A Missed Magical Opportunity: A Critical Review of Ashoka
RaviJafariMinab4 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 8 of Ashoka unfortunately fell short, featuring uneven writing and choreography that didn't consistently hit the mark. The zombie troopers were notably lackluster; given the presence of three powerful mothers wielding an array of magical abilities, one would anticipate more than a mundane hallway chase featuring zombies.

Indeed, there were richer narrative paths available that were left unexplored. Rather than resorting to reanimating stormtroopers, the Night Sisters could have employed their magical prowess in more psychologically compelling ways. Picture, instead, a scenario where Ashoka, Ezra, and Sabine are ensnared in a web of haunting visions, each character forced to navigate through a maze of their deepest fears and most troubling memories. Such a plot twist would not only deepen our understanding of the characters but also ratchet up the episode's tension and emotional stakes significantly.

Moreover, while zombies generally provide ample opportunities for dismemberment and gore, the episode seemed restrained, not fully leveraging the horror and thrill typically associated with the undead.

Additionally, there were moments in the episode that strained credibility, as when the stormtroopers froze mid-battle between Morgan and Ashoka, seemingly unaware of Sabine's presence just behind them. These narrative inconsistencies cast a shadow over the show's future prospects.

The road ahead for Ashoka seems uncertain. Without a substantial improvement in both storytelling and character development - not to mention avoiding the use of convenient plot armor to extricate Ashoka and company from their predicament and adequately addressing Ray Stevenson's departure - the show risks losing its appeal. For it to sustain viewer interest and justify its continuation, a more thoughtful and engaging narrative approach is crucial. Without such enhancements, perhaps it would be wise for Ashoka to conclude before it further dilutes its narrative impact and legacy.

Quite a great season finale which leaves numerous loose ends, offering you great characterization and action - most importantly it felt like Star Wars
Holt3444 October 2023
Part Eight: The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord is directed by Rick Famuyiwa and written by Dave Filoni, the showrunner. This is the series finale of Ahsoka, I really hope they make a second season because of how they ended it, loose threads and more adventures to come. I think it's needed until Dave Filoni's film in 2026. I thought this was a great episode, it contained everything I wanted to see from Ahsoka, Ezra and Sabine with them up against Thrawn and Morgan Elsbeth. But that was what we got. Two of my new favorite characters got pushed to the side, Baylan and Shin who was only seen at the end possibly because of pacing reasons. I just wish we had a longer finale, because of these two characters, now with Ray Stevenson dead I don't know what they'll do with the character. It was an interesting character and a terrific performance by him. It feels like Dave Filoni has a second season in mind because of him setting up a redemption arc for Shin Hati and this trip Baylan Skoll goes to, which is not present in this episode except for small voice less cameo roles.

The premise of the episode is: The heroes race to prevent Grand Admiral Thrawn's escape.

The episode stars Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, David Tennant as Huyang, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, and Hayden Christensen. The characterization for Thrawn is on point, his intelligence and strategic mastermind is shown even more in this episode. Ezra Bridger, I would never believe I would say this but I love this character and mostly are because of Eman Esfandi's performance. I thought there were several good performances throughout the episode, Lars Mikkelsen and Diana Lee Inosanto stood out the most in my opinion. Natasha Liu Bordizzo gave us a good performance too, the writing for Sabine is better in this episode which I hoped but still not great, the direction she got was good though! I think Rick Famuyiwa did a fantastic job at directing the episode, here's someone who has directed multiple episodes of The Mandalorian so he has the experience working in this world.

The action sequences were great in this episode; nicely choreographed, directed and edited. The musical score helps to make the action more suspenseful, along with helping the dramatic scenes, Kevin Kiner has been doing some truly terrific work with this show. This is the episode they've built towards, the attack on Thrawn to make sure he doesn't escape and we get plenty of action sequences, at first I thought the action sequence with the Night Troopers had none of that energy but it was the characters holding back I believe to not tire oneself out. Then we proceed to action more keenly with our heroes skills, for example Ahsoka and her rematch with Morgan Elsbeth which was one of the show's best action sequence. For the others are something out of Clone Wars and what have been hinted at by Thrawn in previous episodes. Action packed from start to finish, great action at that.

The mise-en-scene of the episode was fantastic, brilliantly shot and use of visual effects, clearly higher budget and more heart than what is The Mandalorian these days. Ahsoka have since the first episode been a great show, technically, and whilst some writing choices have been average most of the writing has been on point. The new planet they introduced was a fresh and great idea from Dave Filoni, he's making something original, whilst the first three episodes were not original, the rest was. Part Eight: The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord is a great episode which had the potential to be perfect, if it would have been longer and focused more on the antagonists Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati, who became important characters to the show and characters. It just feels we deserved more, or simply a season with ten episodes instead of eight. Overall, a satisfying conclusion, I just hope we get another season as the show feels incomplete.

Sour note ends 1/2 a season with 1/4 season of story
Ambiguous-Spoon1 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
When did 8 episodes become a season? In part I am let down by expecting at least 10 episodes, but even more disappointing is that the season was already grinding to a halt, stretching extremely thin past the midpoint. The last 3 episodes have 1 episode's material padded out with "racing to stop Thrawn" at the pace of literal turtles.

Unbelievably bad pacing brought on by a distinct lack of the rest of the story.

I've come to expect very little from Star Wars, so this wouldn't be so disappointing if the first half wasn't so promising. It had everything going for it - complex characters, rich history and worldbuilding, intriguing plot, competent villains, great ideas like the inclusive Force, and barely a moment of filler save that business between Hera and the New Republic. All that promise, all the money, talent, hungry fandom, and IP richness in the world and this is the best we can do?

A daring and dangerous trip to the unknown far distant reaches of... space Ireland,

Arcane home to an ancient, forgotten sisterhood of mystical witches with unspeakable, eldritch power to... make zombies,

Under the leadership of the most intelligent military strategist in the universe who... loads some crates,

Assisted by the long-exiled sister-witch who for her efforts is gifted the witches' dark powers to... have a sword and die

Further aided by mysterious mercenaries, driven by unwavering conviction to... gaze at statues, impress some bandits

It's all up to our heroes to stop them from... that thing!

The rogue mandalorian/jedi apprentice, brimming with cunning, but confused, lacking discipline and in need of a master who can... say something nice,

Wise, convenient droid professor with a firm but gentle guiding way of... trash talk directly to your face,

Led by the transfigured reborn jedi master with a profound new appreciation for... wasting everyone's time,

And finally, long lost baby blue eyes, no need for a lightsaber, needs a lightsaber, a master of disguise and stealth, completely undetectable by the writers, he infiltrates the enemy ship, steals a shuttle, and arrives to a warm, welcome reunion... wearing an enemy helmet for no reason at all.

What a sour note to end an underwhelming back half of a pathetically short excuse of a season. I desperately wanted to like this show. I gave the first half 10/10. Something is very fundamentally broken about Star Wars right now, and it is extremely sad and hard to watch.

May I Suggest Dave Filoni Making Video Games Instead of Shows?
MamadNobari974 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So my first question after finishing the show would be "What was the point?"

First of all, please binge-rewatch this show to understand its story problems better. Because when 8 episodes are stretched through 2 months, you would mistakenly think there is much more to the story than there is in reality.

This finale was par for the course with the entire show, many many senseless action scenes with the main characters having a bigger plot armor than Thrawn's Star Destroyer and unfinished and unsatisfying storytelling.

Thrawn is basically a really forgettable Star Wars villain, and dare I say even Snoke was more memorable than him. The only thing unique about him is his eye and skin color. They did a terrible job handling his character and I'm sure he's a pretty well-written character in the book or the animated show, but they did everything they could to make him the most unintimidating villain ever. This guy is supposed to be the big bad guy after Emperor Palpatine? This is a joke, right?

The show obviously needs a second season with how the story "ended" here. So I do not understand why they presented this show as a one-season show and implied it's a mini-series? They clearly have so many unfinished storylines and not one had a conclusion here. So I don't get why they made it seem like the season was gonna have a complete story arc.

It is also all on Sabine that Thrawn got out, but hey, Ezra also got home so all is good, right? I am actually baffled at how Ahsoka actually tells Sabine that what she did is reasonable and understandable, and it's fine because Ezra got home. How am I supposed to relate this "main" titular character if her morals are so confusing and baffling? How is the fate of an entire galaxy and dooming their future a good idea because you saved one guy? I wouldn't even go save Luke Skywalker himself if it meant unleashing another Palpatine on the galaxy and ensuring the undoing of everything those rebels and resistance people did all those years to save their galaxy.

I just do not get it.

The white-haired girl also had zero characterization or a semblance of an arc this season. I understand if they want to expand on her and her master in the next season, but that doesn't mean she has to be this shallow. She basically had no character arc whatsoever. I do not accept focusing on these characters for half a season while giving them not much characterization and also giving them basically zero screen time in the finale. I also just remembered again that Ray Stevenson has passed away, so we're not gonna get anything from him in the next season. So please tell me, what exactly was the point of these two characters past the map orb?

I also said video games because this episode was basically a video game level design and story-telling in TV format. It's not the first time that a Dave Filoni show feels like a video game either. Half of Mandalorian is basically side-quests and Mando doing fetch quests for random side characters on his way to the main quest. And this finale is the prime example of this with the zombie troopers and the final boss battle, and shows that it would be better if Dave Filoni went into the video game industry and left writing to professional writers instead. Not saying that it's a bad thing for the show to feel like a video game, just that there isn't much to the story and they pad the runtime with more pointless and tension-less action.

The best part of the finale was probably that Stormtrooper falling down the stairs at 24:18.

And I don't think I even need to talk about them not getting hit with any bombs or even the blasts impacting them.

There are a lot of other problems that I'm sure other reviews are going to go in-depth with, but I'm trying to keep my review short, so I think these are my main problems that I can think of and won't go into details.

But overall, pretty mediocre finale for a mediocre show.

PERFECT CHAPTER THANKS FILONI
gusty-608134 October 2023
I had not seen anything like this episode since the first season of Mandalorian or perhaps Rouge One. Dave Filoni is George Lucas' true padawan and with Ahsoka the padawan establishes himself as a true Jedi Knight. The way it connected with Rebels, the new type of saber, the inclusion of magic to the saga in live action and the reunion of new and old friends, what else to say a perfect ending and a new beginning for what is being built with the Star Wars universe. If there is a good time to be a fan of the saga, it is now, just wait for the next series and movies to see how it all ends. Saludos desde Chile.

An enjoyable conclusion to the show boosted by some fantastic set-up for future projects, even if it was unfortunately rushed.

Warning: Spoilers
It's taken me a couple re-watches of this episode to fully digest it and conceive a proper opinion on it, and I've eventually settled on an overall positive rating.

First of all, I thought this finale was better than some of the others so far, especially Boba Fett, but I do think it's on par with the Mando S3 finale, whilst falling short of Kenobi's incredible final episode.

This episode works best when it focuses on character moments, as I particularly enjoyed the emotional weight of the final scene featuring Anakin's force ghost. I thought the cinematography and music were impeccable, and this show overall has done a great job of resolving Ahsoka and Anakin's relationship and furthering his redemption, even if I still believe more could've been done with the WBW in ep5. And while most of the action is fine, I really liked Ahsoka and Morgan's final duel, which featured the most rapid and elegant choreography we've had to date, whilst being thankfully lengthy.

This episode is also helped in many ways by the teases it features for what is to come, with the promise of a potentially incredible storyline involving Ahsoka, Baylan &more (and maybe Anakin?) and the Morris Gods, as well as the Filoni movie.

On the negative side, I unfortunately wasn't a fan of how quickly and how quickly Sabine levelled up this episode, as it's severely undermined by the fact that she doesn't seem that interested in being a Jedi, and therefore she doesn't really work as one.

I also really wish Disney Plus would stop making their finales so short, as they almost always leave so much to resolve that more time is desperately needed. Baylan, Shin and Hera in particular were all badly shortchanged.
