One of the more gruesomely and relentlessly violent Chicago PD episodes I can remember.
The episode starts out with a montage featuring Hailey training at a kickboxing joint with Torres whilst also playing phone tag with Halstead in South America. She wants to know when he is coming back and isn't getting much in the way of an answer.
Suddenly, her phone rings - it's an old informant of Halstead's named Lee. She goes to meet him and after a moment, they are set upon by two unknown assailants, tasered and snatched up. Lee owes some bad dudes come cash, and they are not above hacking off parts of limbs with an axe (!!) to get him to talk, and tell them where the money is. Intelligence must find Hailey, who doesn't have her gun or badge with her, before the worst can happen.
If you like Angry Voight, this is the episode for you. He isn't quite off the chain, but it's close, and Jason Beghe gets to do his best snarling detective to great affect at one stage. It reminded me of some of the earlier episodes in the series: he seemed a second away from going completely nutso. Would have been interesting to see what might have gone down if the thugs who'd snatched up Hailey had survived for him to get there.
Great episode. A lot of tension right to the closing scenes. Tracy Spiridakos is once again superb as Upton.
