I enjoyed this journey in Singapore: there are many interesting places. We discover the green Singapore at the Park Royal building with its green balconies : then the CapitaSpring building with its roof garden: the gardener Brent Purtell explains that he grows 130 plants in this garden and the chef Lamley Chua is very proud to get these fresh plant for his cuisine.
Singapore is a new place for French expatriate: Rapahaël and Laura Vialat and their children are discovering the city (eating in little restaurants). Marie Rubillard who has come to Singapore for her studies plays softball with Singapore women.
Then we visit the Changi international airport: first of all the Rain Vortex (the greatest innern waterfall in the world), then the gardens spread over four floors in another terminal : the landscaper Erinna Pak explains her duty in these gardens. In another part of the airport there is a butterfly park. Besides in this airport there are about 300 shops, an amusement park, a movie theater and a luxury hotel.
In the parks of Singapore we can meet men with their singing birds (some of these birds won prizes).
In the water canals there are otters which are now part of the local landscape.
When the people find wild animals in their garden or buildings they call the ACRES association and Julia Waters Polo and her volunteer colleagues come, capture the animal (a little cobra and a varan this day) and release them later.
Inside Singapore there is an enclave: the kampong Lorong Buankok, a traditional Malaysian village.
On the island of Pulau Ubin the visitors can see a traditional fishermen village: the 77 years old Yok Choon Chu is the guide for the visitors (manages also a bicycle rental agency).
There is also the Sungei Buloh wetland reserve with its mangrove and the saltwater crocodiles.
Finally we meet David Lim, the clock repairman, the restaurant owner Chew Tang who prepare a very strong coffee, the rice cake producer Edmond Wong (the cakes have a lot of colours) or the Uncle Chieng who sells his ice-creams (some with durian taste). Besides in Little India we visit a very old Indian food shop ( The Thandapani company) managed by Meenakshi Gnana.
I enjoyed the encounters of Sophie with Mathilde Bagein (the bike tour, the talk about the durian fruit, the theatre class), with Manisha Joshi (the Deepavali celebration), with Tan Ching Chong at the Gardens by the bay, with Malcom Lee , the Pangium specialist, with Mark Choo (the orchids specialist), with Andrea Nichols (the marine reserve program), with Lynn Wong (the House of the Clan) and with Kyra Poh ( the sky diving at Sentosa Island): very nice encounters with very kind Singapore men and women.
