When Detective Mandy looks out the window to investigate a noise, the film cuts to Night of the Living Dead (1968), the scene where the zombies are moving on the house, a nude female zombie walks across the shot and an older male zombie eats a bug.
After Detective Mandy flees the cemetery and he is driving around trying to decide how to handle the zombies, he says, "I wish Doc Brown was here, he would know what to do," in reference to Dr. Emmett Brown, from Back to the Future (1985)
The Bum in Spoof of the Living Dead (1991) asks everyone for a quarter in the same way as the homeless character in UHF (1989) and, likewise, when the Gigalo gives the Bum a quarter, he says, "What are you gonna do, start a business?", just like R.J. Fletcher does when he confronts the man in UHF (1989).
Several shots are done in a parody of Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), when the killer rabbit flies from knight to knight killing them. In Spoof, the same shots show knives and axes flying through shots to their victims.
In a parody of the human survivors using fire extinguisher foam to fight back the killer spiders in Kingdom of the Spiders (1977), Detective Mandy and his wife decide to use Cajun seasoning powder to destroy the zombies.
