Painful
ktravaglio5 October 2023
It's very obvious what generation their catering to this season. If they're bringing back an element of the witches, their catering to gen Z. Kim Kardashian is honestly the most painfulpart of this season. If she wasn't in it, it would have a little bit more potential for being okay. They just need to get back to the origins of American Horror Story. A similar feel of seasons 1 2 and 5 this catering to a specific age demographic needs to stop or they just need to end the show. If they're going to continue to fall of some pattern that just doesn't make any sense I did not understand this episode at all.

Kim Kardashian ruins this show
christinapilecki6 October 2023
This is a great idea for an AHS season but man o' man they completely messed up casting Kim Kardashian! Any scene that's she's in is awful. It's difficult watching the show because of her. Her "acting" is so bad you kind of view it as an accident you can't help looking at. It detracts from the good underlying story and the other actors in this season. It almost seems like the other actors in scenes with her were either seriously uncomfortable or trying to make sure the audience still could follow the story and recognize the real talent in the show. One can only hope they kill off Kardashian's character sooner than later.

Enough with Kim!
riverotter686 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This was the best episode yet, even Kim Kardashian's bad acting could not totally ruin it. Anna's slow descent into a mental breakdown is progressing at a nice pace, and it's hard to tell which of those around her are in on it.

The pacing of the episode and the creepiness of it were very good, but for the love of all things great and small, could they kill off Kim's character soon? From her grotesquely inflated lips, to the forced profane dialogue, it's just awful. Where they so worried about ratings they had to do this?

Another thing I like about this season is they avoid the tired tropes of the past season: the emasculated men for example.

A mixture of effective reality distortion and underwhelming reality
fincentwillighagen10 October 2023
Dexter has been a disappointment from the beginning, but he's now fully lost his footing as a husband. Whatever his name might suggest, he is not RIGHT and fails to serve at Anna's RIGHT HAND as a supportive husband of a (no longer) pregnant wife Unfortunately, there is nothing to like about him, nor can anything desirable be said about those he associates with; Sonia and Talia to name a few. This would be fine if it added villainous depth to a character, but in Dexter Alcott's case... it is just annoying. The season has reached a point where we know that EVERYONE is implicated in the nefarious plot, whether they are procuring it or attempting to remove the target from it (Preacher, and possibly nurse Ivy). The aesthetics of the consistent color scheme and devilishly black clothing, as if having a ,The devil wears Prada' catwalk makes the tediousness of the plot a somewhat forgivable peccadillo with the purpose of establishing an eerie ambiance. The problem of incoherence remains, and severely detracts from plot aesthetics. Audiovisuals and imagery are still top-notch. However, as the plot keeps drawing on cliched horror tropes, it cannot be helped that the audience is annoyed. However, the design of the black goat ladies, undoubtedly in league with diabolical forces, is the peek of the episode. Unfortunately, whenever the audience was struck with reality again, it proved to be underwhelming. Lastly, I was quite disappointed with Kim's acting this episode around. There was some cleverness in her oration, but then there were some phrases where that cringeworthy tone came out again.

Therefore, my rating for this episode got stuck at 63/100.

CALCULATION of the final rating:

PLOT AESTHETICS 24/45

Characterization 5/10

Convincing theatrical techniques 8/10

Cohesion and coherence 6/15

Suspense, pacing and developmental sequences 5/10

CINEMATOGRAPHY 13/15

Soundtrack 4/5

Visual effects (imagery) 9/10

EPISTEMOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK 26/40

Actuality and relevance 14/20

Effectiveness of oration 6/10

Individuality and originality 6/10

TOTAL 63/100.

The progression is too slow, characters aren't likeable
kristinrutkowski8 October 2023
I can't empathize with a main character who has little to no redeeming qualities and can't seem to find joy in a single aspect of her life. This is really not scary and feels very typical with the same type of "oh you're going crazy" things that are occurring. I gave it 3 full episodes and I don't think I will be continuing with this season.

I thought maybe because it was adapted from a book it may be more cohesive than previous seasons and not make so many strange turns like they do sometimes, but I feel like almost nothing has even happened.

I usually love Emma Roberts, and maybe it's the direction, but she is just not interesting or likeable in this series. Her character is very vanilla and I have a difficult time understanding how she would even be a celebrity.

Do I like Kim Kardashian? Absolutely not, but it's not even her that has ruined this for me. Maybe the book is better.

Oh Ryan Murphy you Twisted Man
paulied-496636 October 2023
Yooooo it's SOOOOOOOO GOOD!

This episode is the American Horror Story we all know and love! Mr Murphy what happened to you as a child sir lol, I was totally creeped out watching this episode it is quite chilling. I want to low key admit that I never saw "Rosemary's Baby" (I know how lame right) well it's just shy of my time but from what I understand this is following queues from it and if that's true I'm gonna be watching it very soon. Do yourselves a favor if you've been feeling like it's time to give up AHS don't do it because it's definitely back. And while I'm at it let me praise the Emma Roberts and KimK's incredible performances this season. Emma has taken on a whole new role than we are used to seeing her in and she's really killing it and KimK is as amazing as I knew she would be. Kim is here to shut down the haters!

No progression and lackluster
jflores-055597 October 2023
Season 3 of delicate is going nowhere fast! We are 2 episodes in and that's about 2 hours of our time so far. We have basically watched a 2 hour movie with nothing happening. Every character of this show is unappealing and has no character development.

Why is she trying to have a baby with someone she clearly dislikes? Why are they even together? Why is the main character weak and unappealing. They try to reel you back in with quick shots of avant garde costume like it's going to save the story and add shock value.

AHS is running dry with ideas and it clearly shows.

If the writers were smart they would stop trying to reinvent the wheel and create new stories and stick with what they know.

Continue stories that the fans love! Coven, hotel, murderhouse, even at this point I'll watch another asylum.

Losing big names like Sarah, Evan and Jessica where hard but they were the staples of the show and either they read these scripts and knew it was going to bomb or even they were tired of tried to keep this show up since they carried it on their backs.

AHS: DELICATE SHOULD BE CALLED, AHS: Stale.

BEST EP SO FAR
kondorosipeti5 October 2023
Loved this episode so much. Emma is doing much better now, i fell like she just needs a bit more juicier scenes and she'll be flourishing cause the only problem with Anna is that she's quite bland. Kim was missed in this episode she's just so charismatic and fun to watch. Hope we'll se her more in the next ep. LOVED the jump scares and the scary scenes. It feels like the HORROR is back in American Horror Story.

As Anna and Dex settle into their Hamptons sanctuary, the comfort begins to fade. Her circle of trust is slowly shrinking, and doubt creeps into Anna's head - could the evil be right under her nose? Written by Halley Feiffer; directed by Jennifer Lynch.

An inkling
icantoo13 October 2023
Finally an inkling of what this is all about. Not exciting, not horror story, just this continuous bland baby food being spoon fed to us. Here comes the fantastic airplane and the spoon full of nothing.

This is like grits with absolutely no seasoning no flavor and when you are done you are wondering why you did it.

The constant presence of Kim K just annoys me. She so obviously cant act and cant make a single facial expression it ANNOYS me. I am not sure I will make it through the series. For the first time ever I am not sure I will continue watching and I watched every season here even the roanoake and the dumb clowns, but this, this may be too big an ask even for me.

Downhill
sfpmail5558 October 2023
Lost its way this season. Kim kardashian is embarrassing as an actor, really poor. Doesn't have the same gripping storytelling, I find myself drifting off easily.

It's too easy to guess the arc of this story so far. I might be mistaken of course, but I don't look forward to future episodes. It's a last resort for me.

I hope they do find their way back, but it is a tall order from the high bar set in season one.

Just don't give in to the pop demands of the day and go with your wild off kilter craziness that led you to us loving you to begin with.

Carry on and let's hope next season is better....!

Worst episode so far
markocop7 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Really!? A 30 minute episode giving us nothing, Anna should've discovered her child being alive later on, not at the beginning. Siobyn or however she's called was underused as hell in this episode and had a miscarriage which is a bit suspicious that she told Anna about it now. If they were gonna atleast try and give us a good episode, they should've made it 50 minutes long, not 30, by these things that they're doing, it's gonna end like another Red Tide finale, a boring 30 minute finale killing of every character that didn't die, the writters need to get their act together. A pretty fast and boring episode.

Is it turning into a comedy show?
jrwbvfghq10 October 2023
I'll be pretty honest. This season is disappointing me. Okay, we really are in the suspenseful atmosphere and confusion of not knowing what's going on with the main character. But Anna is a weak character to be the main one. Maybe it's because of Emma Roberts' bad skills for acting. Kim Kardashian is just having a supportive kind of role for Anna. Siobhan is not being like the Siobhan from the book. Everything's different from Danielle's Valentine book. I feel like there's a creativity fatigue going on. The productions seems to be tired and we are seeing the same kind of themes that we saw in other seasons. There's no character development and no story development.
