"Seasonal Charm and Cozy Cringe: Unwrapping the Festive Magic of 'Christmas at the Chalet'"
tylersmyler-3469418 November 2023
"Absolutely fell for the charm of 'Christmas at the Chalet'! It's that perfect blend of holiday warmth and unexpected romance that had me hooked from start to finish. The Aspen backdrop is nothing short of magical - snow-covered mountains, twinkling lights - it's like a winter dream. And Lex taking on the chalet worker gig? Hilarious and totally relatable! It adds this quirky touch to the story that keeps you smiling.

The characters are a blast, especially Lex and Eric. Their chemistry is the heart of the movie, making you root for them from the get-go. The snowy scenes in Aspen are not just scenic; they're practically a winter wonderland that makes you want to dive into the screen.

If you're into feel-good holiday movies that make you laugh a bit, swoon a lot, and just embrace the festive spirit, 'Christmas at the Chalet' is an absolute winner. It's got everything - cozy vibes, great characters, and that perfect dose of holiday magic. Two big thumbs up from me! 👍👍

P. S. - The chalet's family backstory? Adds an extra layer of heart to the whole experience, making it more than just a love story; it's a celebration of connections and new beginnings."

Great Christmas movie full of laughs
TravelLarge7 December 2023
I really enjoyed this Christmas movie on LIfetime. Teri Hatcher is so funny and she is still so beautiful. The entire cast did a great job on this show. I thought that the story was creative and really enjoyed that it was set in todays time with the live videos and social media. I laughed out loud several times, mainly because of Terri. She is perfect for CHristmas movies and I hope that she does more to come. As an avid christmas movie watcher for the past 40 years, I found this one to stand up high to all the others that are played on the different channels. Also, the girls working at the chalet were wonderful actresses that are talented and were great assets to the show. Thank you!

The Terri Hatcher Christmas Movie
johne-5595228 November 2023
Yes Christmas movies have no original plots and if you're lucky they're filmed at a scenic real location instead of the Hallmark studio lot in Vancouver. There are a few of the Christmas movie actress troupe that can actually carry a movie (ex. Bethany Joy Lenz) such that's its watchable. Terri Hatcher is now in that small group IMHO. This movie is in reality a Terri vehicle so if you like her (I do) then sit back and enjoy. Otherwise you may want to skip it. Scenery is ok but mostly generic Colorado ski area. Actors are competent but are overshadowed by TH. Dialog / Direction is focused on Hatcher, so it works as long as she is performing. All in all a watchable holiday movie thanks to TH.

Beautiful scenery
marykeesha1 December 2023
Okay one to watch. I do love Teri Hatcher and she was fun to watch. Typical characters. Worldly French mother, spoiled rich son, obnoxious ex hubby. The scenery was absolutely stunning. Quite amazing how a mother and son along with a couple chalet girls run that whole place. And that "suite" in the staff quarters!!! Looked better than her ex hubby's room! I do have one burning question. How does one fit 5 different complete color coordinated ski outfits into that one small suitcase she brought with her? And a plethora of sweaters and dresses too. She needed to do a video on how to pack a suitcase in the show. 🤣

beautiful
Kirpianuscus31 December 2023
I like it. The motives are few , a love story film offering the steps of real mature people being not only rare but more attractive . And Teri Hatcher did a beautiful job as Lexi, like William deVry. A real good point for Patty Alan, in same measure.

It is just a seductive film about options, illusions, choices and something easy - not spo correct- defined as life lessons.

A film about comunication, need of love and truths changing, in profound sense, everything.

Temptiing to define it as special.

In fact, a confirmation for 50 years age audience of basic, lived and strong realities and way to accept they in real sense.

Weird
Jackbv1239 January 2024
So many things in this movie didn't make sense to me and I'm not referring to the lack of reality that so many rom/coms have. I read other reviews to see if I could figure out anything about what I just watched. I think the word "romp" fits and it fits Teri Hatcher in this movie. The movie really was dominated by her and she basically romped her way through the story as Lex.

Lex's boyfriend breaks up with her so she takes her son's advice and goes to Aspen to be near him for Christmas. The next bit is something I've never seen before and I have seen hundreds of rom/coms and Christmas movies. Her reservation at the chalet didn't go through so she agrees to take a room as a "chalet girl" or basically service staff. She becomes the hired help. And she loves it. Meanwhile she makes posts about her experience and has tons of followers

As I said, Lex romps her way from one things to another including some things she does while not working like a night on the town with a coworker and ski lessons.

That's not enough to fill the story so let's throw in her ex-husband who is in the same place. He's there with their son. He is also there with a girl half his age. She has to wait on all of them. Like many movies involving an ex, the ex chases her down and talks about getting back together. What happens after that to Lex, her new beau, and her ex makes no sense at all. All three of them make crazy choices, so in that sense the climax is not that predictable even if the ending eventually is. Is not being predictable good if it is because the climax makes no sense? I don't want to give away spoilers but let me just say more than one character says one thing late in the movie and then 5 minutes later run time they say or do the opposite.

Note to self. This movie was passably OK once but don't watch it again.

Love these all-age over 50s movies
SunnyDaise16 December 2023
As much as I've enjoyed many an under 35s movie, there just aren't enough flicks that portray/celebrate the middle years - something like 'Christmas at the Chalet' is much more rewatchable because I won't grow out of it like the others. This has a good mix of the past, the present and digital worlds, showing how they can compliment each other if we don't get obsessed the first and last. Likewise it is good to complete the mundane with a little bit of sparkle. Co-incidentally I'd just watched another Teri Hatcher / Dan Payne romance flick so it was weird seeing them at odds here, but also backed up the premise that they once were an item.

Chalet superlative
vjf3627 November 2023
Teri Hatcher was fabulous. Material was not the best but she did a terrific job. Her lead actor not so good. Mother of the son was very good and brought warmth to the role. Lifetime should def do more rob coms and def use Teri Hatcher. She is a great comedic actress The surrounding cast was fine but not to much to do. My biggest criticism is the amount of commercials. It ruined the flow of the movie. The x husband was fine should have given him more to do the hotel atmosphere was a great backdrop. Reminded me of that fabulous series hotel with Connie Selleca. All in all a very nice Xmas movie without all the Xmas fluff.

I wanted to like this movie
perogy44 November 2023
The scenery is great. The actors are great. The story line is perky and befitting a Hallmark movie. But, my god, the script... The dialogue at times is clunky and extremely cringeworthy. The way Hatcher and deVry talk to each other- no one talks like that! This movie isn't really Christmassy - there are lots of decorated Christmas trees, and they travel to "Aspen" (actually Big White, near Kelowna) at Christmas time, but this could be any ski-season themed movie, and for that, this movie doesn't really get you into the spirit of Christmas time - which is still 8 weeks away. Unfortunately the only relatable aspect of this movie is dealing with ex-spouses and split families over the holidays. The writers seemed to handle that quite well, I thought.

Cosy Apres Ski.

Christmas At The Chalet (2023) -

Well, Teri Hatcher got around a bit this year didn't she? This was the third film I'd seen her in and actually she has been growing on me having initially found her to be quite unappealing as Lois Lane* all those years ago.

There was no way that the room she was given as her character Lex would ever have been meant for a member of staff though.

In his role of Eric, William Devry was actually far more handsome than he looked in the main picture and I liked his delivery as a sensible, softer and calmer than normal leading man, but I personally would have taken Dan Payne any way I could. He seems to be trying on a few different women this year too! Including Teri in 'How To Fall In Love By Christmas' (2023. I'm glad they didn't make him out to be a total @sshat though, because although his character was a player and not really included in the film to be liked, he wasn't the usual caricature of a sleaze and there was potential for him to be redeemed.

Once again it was nice to see a more mature cast in a romantic storyline, because at the age of 43 with very few relationships under my belt, it certainly helped to give me hope thar my Mr Right is still out there somewhere.

I thought that it was a great story to show that older doesn't mean dead and that people over 40 can still be useful and attractive.

I liked the humour in the film, because it was subtle, it wasn't the typical outrageous and daft escapades that some others have been. I didn't even mind that Lex was so constantly cheerful. Teri's face must have ached from smiling so much.

I also enjoyed the soundtrack, but George (Brendan McRae), the son had some terrible jumpers, so perhaps the wardrobe team needed to calm down a bit.

I'm almost looking forward to seeing this one again, because it was enjoyable and made me smile.

8.78/10.

lovely story, messy hair!!
omijer1 December 2023
Christmas at the Chalet is a lovely story, middle-aged single mom, energetic career goals, adaptable to any and all situations, looking good for her age, but, oh, my..all that said...someone forgot to catch the hairdresser before the filming. Never have I seen a lovely actress like Teri Hatcher so poorly groomed as this poor soul was in this fun movie. Her hair distracted this viewer in every single scene, except when it was covered up by a ski cap. Perhaps one needs to be more in tune with the current fashions and looks. But for this loyal Hallmark fan, Teri Hatcher deserved a great deal better look than the one she was given in this film..Strands and strands of messy hair, flying in all directions, distracting from her beautiful face, her winning smile, her expressive eyes. Hallmark heroines deserve better than this lovely woman got in this sweet film..Sorry..if you watch this movie, try to ignore the distracting hair. Focus on the beautiful setting, the sweet people, the emotional story.

Unbelivable boring romp!
cynet-5233227 November 2023
Xmas can be the time of giving as well as recieving well I am going to have to call out humbug on this lackluster affair. OK the two main protagonists are as dull as dish water who have got zero chemsitry on screen.

Terri Hatcher looks way to old to be the mother of her son in the movie which they also have zero chemistry in mother and son status.

There is the most annoying kid child I have seen in a movie for sometime and oh my she grates on me I just want to punch the screen.

Getting back to the naff story of Terri working like a slave so she can have a room to stay in the hotel which makes no sense as she can go anywhere to get a hotel stay in the area so why make yourself a slave to the trade?

Over acting and dumb sub plots make this romp of a movie a huge snooze fest.

If there is any positives Terri Hatcher facelift is looking good amongst the silver screen and that's about it.

3/10 Avoid like the plague!
