Ever since this series was announced as one of the replacements for the 2 great shows "Young Justice" and "Green Lantern: The Animated Series" which both got cancelled, it's received quite a lot of negativity.
Some hated the animation style, some hated the villains that were gonna be introduced but I think what really outraged DC Fans was how inferior it looked compared to the other 2 shows.
I dived into the episode not knowing what to expect and tried not to heighten my expectations as they could go either way, but as a pilot it actually did pretty well and it was quite entertaining.
The CG Animation does take some getting used to but after a while it can really grow on you and start to look quite pleasing, the action sequences really captured Batman's potential and looked stunning up close.
The voice actors are pretty good as well and although no one can replace Kevin Conroy's stellar Batman voice, Anthony Ruivivar does a nice job as the caped crusader and at times even sounds quite similar to him.
Alfred has had a major change as a character and it's a change not everyone will like. But when it comes right down to it, he can be a welcome variation of his counterpart.
The villains, Mr. Toad and Professor Pyg are nothing special and don't really stand out as really threatening villains but it could have been worse.
Overall the episode was pretty good, I look forward to seeing more in the future and I hope it doesn't disappoint. I'm giving it an 8/10.
