Really fun to watch
After finding out that The Patrick Star Show switched from script driven episodes to storyboard driven like in the original era of the show (which, let's be honest, should've been the intention at the very beginning of this spinoff) I knew I had to check in a few times to see if the show had improved.
Surprisingly enough, season two actually had way better episodes than before, and that aspect actually works in its favor this time. We get a lot of enjoyable moments in this specific episode pair, with many hilarious quick gags. I also loved the reference to the original SpongeBob Season 1 art style, it took me back.
As this show goes on, it starts growing a better sense of humor and starts embracing it's weirdness in the same way Chowder or Uncle Grandpa does. The best part of the episode "Chum Bucket List" also, is that SpongeBob and Patrick actually act like best friends way more than they have in post-movie era SpongeBob, where they constantly have SpongeBob getting abused or mistreated by Patrick. That was something that has always bothered me as a kid, but it is just very nice to see them acting how they were supposed to be in the original era.
For once, The Patrick Star Show justifies it's existence by making me appreciate Patrick as a character again. While he is still a bit flanderized, he feels way more likeable here in this show than he was some years ago. I hope the rest of this season continues this streak.
