I'm surprised to be the first reviewer given that this film is 3 years old. The pacing is slow but purposely so. The subject matter is depressing and a constant feeling of mystery, dread, and unanswerable questioning permeates throughout. It's not for everyone but I enjoyed watching this on a cold lazy Sunday evening. I was surprised that I didn't dislike or like any of the characters more than any other. They were all in such a state of shock that numbing malaise pretty much took over. That worked in this movie given the subject matter. The rural Canadian setting was beautiful as well.
