On a search for ancestral music, Mexican musician Luis Pérez-Ixoneztli encounters Antonio Chan K'in, a spiritual elder of one of Mexico's most isolated indigenous groups. Antonio believes the protection of his village depends on his son, Bor, following in his traditional footsteps, though modern temptations and an ever-widening generational gap pose a tangible threat.
