Entertaining, definitely influenced by Strictly's successes.
Sleepin_Dragon1 March 2024
Talent scout Kevin Clifton is soon to arrive in Kembleford, in search of dancing talent, but just before he gets there, dancing favourites, brother and sister, Derek and Gillian fall out with one another, and one of them is killed.

A pleasing enough mystery, though this one definitely benefited from a little bit of razzle dazzle, very much an episode inspired by the success of Strictly come dancing. It developed well, the ending was surprising.

The main question of course, not so much Whodunnit, but was Tom Chambers going to strut his stuff.

Not too sure how I felt about Mrs Devine and Brenda at the dance school, it would have worked so well with Lady Felicia.

The Mario character was definitely amusing, and that accent was definitely quite something, as we're those eyebrows.

When I saw Steve Meo, I had a feeling he'd previously appeared in the show before as a similar character, but of course it was in sister show, The Sister Boniface Mysteries.

An entertaining episode.

7/10.

The Last Tango in Kembleford
Prismark1023 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It's Kevin Clifton from Grimsby! He plays the Talent Scout from popular dance show Go Dancing.

He will be arriving in Kembleford to look for some dancers for the show.

Gillian Fletcham who runs the dance studio with her brother Derek plans to wow the scout with a showstopper. She has even ordered a dress from Paris.

Gillian has also ditched her brother as a dance partner. Got Mario Cantoloni to dance a new routine. He is a professional dancer which annoys the others.

Only someone has damaged her new dress. Later Gillian is found dead with her brother as the main suspect.

Father Brown believes that someone else killed Gillian. There was a strange smell near her body and a plaque was missing from the murder weapon. A dance trophy.

A story not strictly just for Father Brown fans. It is one where the character's faith has a part to play in the killing. Although there were not many characters with a motive in this one.

As for Inspector Sullivan. Very much in the chorus line for this episode as Mrs Devine gets chased by Mario.

Of course Tom Chambers will put his dancing shoes on by the end. A former winner of Strictly Come Dancing.

Great episode!

I haven't enjoyed the new cast much and really miss the previous incarnations of this show. The series regulars had more pizzazz and sparkle. That being said, I really enjoy this episode. It had a lot of heart and raw emotions even though there wasn't much in the way of action. The story moved slowly but it worked well for this particular story.

The acting was quite good, regulars and guest stars. The dancing was lots of fun to watch. The last scene was really very sweet and yeah sappy but I'm a big fan of sappy. Makes for a nice contrast from the darker sides of the stir.

A good solid episode.

LOVED IT!!

Loved the dancing, loved the ending and loved it all. Wish more episodes would have such fun activity going on.

At the local dancing school, dancers are training for an upcoming visit from a talent scout. Brother and sister owners of the dancing school have a falling out and, naturally, someone is murdered. Hoping that the murderer gets off with a plea of temporary insanity, if such a thing existed back then. The victim was a truly despicable person!

Anyway, the costumes were fabulous! Nice to see Brenda in something other than mismatched shirt and slacks for a change. Sorry to see the season is ending soon. But there is next year to look forward to!!

Really fun episode - glad to hear it will be expanded on in the following season!

This episode was so much fun, especially the Judge - I hope they do more guest stars in future. I'm so glad Tom Chamber returned - I always felt he left too soon. Whilst the feel has definitely changed with the new cast, I like the fresh start because the Fifties were for many people and so is post pandemic life for some of us. Plus previous characters make brief returns and we re-watch earlier episodes anyway, so still enjoy 'old friends'. Mrs Divine is a great mix of tragedy and comedy/joy which I find really empowering. I also enjoy the stories not being too dark - some in early seasons were too weird.
