Dead by Daylight and Behaviour Interactive created a livestream in which they revealed all of the future projects for this popular game. One of these revelations was The Casting of Frank Stone’s new gameplay. This will be a crossover between Supermassive Games and the creators of this co-op survival title.
This studio worked on games like Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology, and more. This new project will feature four protagonists who are collaborating to create their own horror movie, but the story takes an unexpected turn.

2023 was a feast for gamers who love the horror genre. With RE4, Dead Space, Dead Island 2, and the anticipated Alan Wake sequel, we’ve had our fill-off “Why are you running?” meme-worthy moments. This year, though, things have seemed a little too quiet on the spooky front. But it looks like we’ll be quivering soon enough with releases like Hellblade 2 and Little Nightmares 3.
Alan Wake 2 was a mind-boggling hit with its twisted and intricate story.
There is another, set for a June release, that seems to have players on the edge of their seats- Still Wakes the Deep. Labeled a disaster story, the game takes place in a contained space on an oil rig. While many horror games provide a vast map or a larger premise of a property (like The Quarry or Until Dawn), developer Chinese Room wants to push the envelope and provide players with a true...

A Pisces, a Taurus, a Capricorn, a Leo, a Virgo, and an Aquarius walk into a rented mansion for their Libra friend’s birthday party. The seven college kids soon run out of booze, go poking around in places they shouldn’t, and summon a fate worse than death when they find a mysterious deck of cards harboring a hidden evil. Title card: “Tarot.” All signs… point to yikes.
Written and directed by Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg, Screen Gems’ latest scary movie is willfully ridiculous. It’s also the most original take on the haunted party game since last year’s well-loved “Talk to Me” with its own franchising potential as a supernatural series. Based in Paris, Dreamspark was founded in 2022 by producer Moe Bennani and tech entrepreneur Julien Muresianu.
Dreamspark is the first production company to integrate AI and data analytics into its core operations, which it uses to enhance format origination, sales strategies and executive production.
Just two years after launching, Dreamspark has already sold three original unscripted shows and has other formats in development. Those already sold include social experiment gameshow “The Power,” a co-production with Studio 89 which launched on French network W9 on April 1. The show sees 13 celebrities participate in a strategic game in which one unknown member of the group is the Power Player, enabling them to control the others.

As Screenlife storytelling transitions into the livestream era, movies like Michelle Iannantuono’s Livescreamers have me most excited. Early Screenlife films like Unfriended and The Den read like one-takers but are computer-set events like someone recorded their computer monitor or laptop screen. What Livescreamers offers — or examples like Spree, Deadstream, and #chadgetstheaxe — is the propulsive energy of a continuous stream devolving into chaos. Creators who put on celebrity identities face dreadful realities, not the protective online bubbles they’ve built where their antics draw millions of views. Livescreamers cherrypicks elements of Stay Alive, House on Haunted Hill, Unfriended, and cringy video game playthrough streams to create something horrifying that both sells its chills and comments on the vulnerable current state of livestream culture.
Low-budget restraints might hold back specific effects, and the film’s narrative throughline is a little wonky in spots, but what Iannantuono accomplishes comes from a place of authenticity.

Well, Mr. King, here’s your answer: the newest version of horror maestro Stephen King’s novel “Salem’s Lot” is coming out this year. Sometime. On streaming.
After initially being expected to hit theaters, New Line’s film adaptation of King’s 1975 bestselling novel “Salem’s Lot” will debut on Max in 2024, the streamer announced today. As for when in 2024, we still don’t know, and as for what this thing will even look like, still no answer there, as today’s announcement came without any sort of handy-dandy still to round out the news.
The film was first announced in 2019 and was shot way back in 2021. Last month, King himself took to Twitter (X?) to publicly wonder where the heck the film was. “Between you and me, Twitter, I’ve seen the new ‘Salem’s Lot’ and it’s quite good,” King wrote on social media. “Old-school horror filmmaking: slow build,...

Killzone, the now-dead first-person shooter franchise and arguably PlayStation’s flagship shooter title, was one of the most popular shooter games out there. The first was released back in 2004, and the last title came in 2013, but players have constantly been clamoring for a remake.
There have been several PlayStation remakes of popular classic games in recent years, and there will be more in the upcoming year, but sadly, none of them will be Killzone titles. A leaker has claimed that despite several remakes being in the works, Killzone fans will be left empty-handed.

Bloodborne‘s release on PS4 in 2015 was a venerable moment in history. FromSoftware taking a break from Dark Souls to create the beautiful gothic world of Yharnam absolutely enchanted players. Short wonder then that it accrued universal acclaim, scored a 92 on Metacritic, and sold several million copies to date.
However, as pretty as the game looked, it still had its limitations. If you could look past the 30fps cap, the jittery frame pacing was sure to irritate. Ever since the PS5 released, fans have been clamoring for a Bloodborne remaster that fixes the PS4 version’s issues. However, based on FromSoftware chief Hidetaka Miyazaki’s recent comments, we might be left wanting.

Supermassive, the British studio behind such horror hits as Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology, is to lay off around 90 staff, citing “significant challenges.”
With such hit horror games as 2015’s Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology series behind it, Supermassive Games is one of the UK’s most successful studios.
Despite this, the Surrey-based company has announced that it’s to lay off around 90 members of staff – equating to about a quarter of its employees, which is said to number around the 350 mark.
Bloomberg first reported the news (via Eurogamer), and while those numbers haven’t been officially confirmed by Supermassive, the studio has confirmed that a “reorganisation” is underway which will result in multiple job losses.
“It’s no secret that the games industry is currently facing significant challenges,” a statement posted on Twitter/X reads, “and unfortunately we aren’t immune to this.”

It’s no secret that the current world economic climate is fraught right now. Developers aren’t immune to the bite of inflation and a potential recession, and The Dark Pictures Anthology developer Supermassive Games appears to be the latest example.
The developer took to X this morning to announce that despite their best efforts, the company is “entering into a period of consultation,” where they will lay off members of the team.
Bloomberg reports that Supermassive will lay off roughly 90 of its 300 staff, or about 30 percent of its work force. Members of the development team were made aware of this decision this morning.

While Warner Bros. continues to sit on his adaptation of the Stephen King novel Salem’s Lot, filmmaker Gary Dauberman has gone on to sign a first-look feature deal with Sony’s Screen Gems, where he is expected to “create projects for himself while curating a slate featuring established and up-and-coming filmmakers.” One of the projects he has set up at Screen Gems is the video game adaptation Until Dawn, which will be directed by David F. Now Deadline has revealed that Dauberman is going to be producing a film called Ushers for Screen Gems… and we have no idea what Ushers is about, because it’s based on a short story by author Joe Hill (who happens to be a son of Stephen King) that has never been published!

Longtime Amblin Partners executive Mia Maniscalco has been tapped as president of Coin Operated, the production banner founded by horror multi-hyphenate Gary Dauberman.
Maniscalco will oversee development and production of Coin Operated’s expanding slate, working closely with Dauberman, who has been involved in some of the biggest horror franchises of the past decade, including It, Annabelle and The Nun, as writer, producer, and even director.
Max Lippe will continue as the company’s director of development.
