Despite being a very real, authentic, natural and current portrait of the vulnerability and the alternation of feelings and sensations of the teenagers, the film sounds futile, irresponsible, maladjusted, irrelevant, restless, adding to the fact that it is long, very soon, almost boring , perhaps because I no longer have the mentality (read immaturity) of young translators... I felt very little empathy, except for a few speeches extolling women's freedom and liberalism... Regular...

Mind-numbingly stupid

this movie is a showcase of bad actors and locations , i think a 5 year old could have written a better script , the plot is really slow and the dialog is as interesting as wet potato , you have 10 seconds of dialog then a music video with people partying.

oh , the casting was like : "hey! , who wants to be in a movie ... sign here and pay us some money" ; and the supposedly "good" actors play the same role as they have in all their movies, shooting likes like a machine-gun

the whole movie screams of expensive cheapness that results in a overall fake feel

Someone will use this movie in the future as a form of torture...

A script that tries to do too much
ersbel26 September 2019
There is simply too much in here. The conflict old vs young. The traditionalist adult vs the calm adult. A teacher having sex with a student. The teacher does not want to make public the relationship yet the student is acting as the teacher agreed to make everything public at the prom. It's enough here to have a first season for a TV series, at least 6 episodes. Hence not one aspect is polished.

ALL OVER THE PLACE

I get the overall goal of what the movie was supposed to be but it just ain't it. The movie has too much going on but yet is so painfully boring. There clearly wasn't much effort and organization put into this movie.

#Selfie (2014) – A breath of fresh air
rdnico14 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This is the by far the best Romanian comedy I have ever seen. Finally a bearable Romanian comedy! Seems like change has come to the domestic film industry.

***Spoiler alert***

The movie follows the story of three teenage girls running away from seaside. Ana, Roxy and Yasmine. All three of them run away after the graduation to the seaside – the weekend before their finals exam. There they meet Brain, Magi and Mihai. All six of them go through a lot of events from being arrested by the police for stealing and selling paper lanterns, to jumping with the car in the black sea. So, full of adventures and close to the habits of the current generation: using social media and having a carefree type of attitude.

In my opinion this movie is a breath of fresh air from the eastern European industry. Usually movies from that area look into the unsolved frustrations from the soviet past.

One of my favourite romanian movies

Warning: Spoilers
As a high school student struggling with the constant pressure of the Baccalaureate, then as a teenager enjoying the summer vacation, then as a homesick student studying abroad, I absolutely loved this movie. It describes the reality of 18 year olds incredibly well. I mean of course most people wouldn't go to the seaside right before the big exam, but it is still a nice funny idea that every student fantasizes about and everyone would want to see it in a movie. It had everything: *SPOILERS* the scenes portraying romanian people as old communists, the very colorful and energetic Hollywood-like scenes, rebellious teenagers, teacher crushes, beach parties, romanian people eating shaworma as the only meal of the day, crazy mother, absent parents, overprotecting parent, the girls, the guys, the innocent one, the smart one, the "cocalar" one (or more), the one who still has no plans for the future, the lowlife, the badass one talking everyone into doing something crazy. PLUS it was shot in Romania, and for a romanian, having a movie displaying many of the places that you know and you've been to means a lot. If someone in the production or the cast sees this review: THANK YOU! This movie had helped me A LOT in the past couple of years.
