Kurama and the Tailed Beasts

Warning: Spoilers
This episode brings a crucial moment for the storyline. Follows with coherence what the last chapters were showing, and the fantastic element regarding the Rikudo Sennin begins to take shape. If Naruto should be considered as a reincarnation, that's up to the viewer. Personally, I think that at this point was inevitable, yet the story could have turned greater than it did, if the myth wasn't expanded after this episode. This was the limit I think. Until this point, can be accepted.

The plot follows the moment Son is releaed from Tobi's control after Naruto takes out the metal bar. Given this, Tobi summons the Gedo Mazo statue. Still, after the clone vanishes from inside of Son's body, the Ape and Naruto meet again (thanks to Kurama I guess). Turns out that some chains disappeared, but there's still a big one tying Son. He explains that the others were just temporal given he was controlled by Tobi via jinchuriki. But he remains tied to the Gedo Mazo statue, where he was sealed. Naruto is frustrated as he thought he could save him. Son is stunned as he means it seriously. Aware of his good intentions, Son asks him to bump fists, quickly as time is running, he wants to give him a gift before leaving. Naruto smiles, but then the Gedo mazo suddenly retrieves Son with the large chain, and is absorbed back. Roshi's body falls to the ground, and Naruto is saddened to see the dead shinobi from Iwagakure. Tobi sees that he is out of energy and only defeated one Bijuu. Now with one piece less to control, he changes the other five to Bijuu forms. Kakashi, Gai, the Hachibi and Naruto must face five big threats. Aware that this is bad, Kurama calls Naruto on his subconcious. He will give him more power, so Naruto agrees, but first thanks him for the help back with Madara. Kurama doesn't want his manners, it's weird, and now he only helps him because he prefers him before Madara, and wants to see him fight a litttle more, this is just for entertaining. Naruto protests, but the Kyuubi simply gestures him to bump fists. He joyfully takes the chakra, and then tells the Hachibi that they will fight together, as a duo. He, still has plenty of power. The Hachibi realizes that Kurama finally will give his full power to Naruto. Remembering Iruka's words, Naruto now recognizes Kurama as a comrade from Konoha. Then, Tobi sends the five beasts to throw Bijuu damas, but Naruto raises the Kyuubi's chakra mode and manages to divert them all away. The Hachibi is surprised, even when Naruto fully transforms into Kurama, but filled with the yellow fire cloak. On this form, protects Gai and Kakashi, and fights the five beasts, also trying to locate the metal bars. Kurama warns Naruto that for being the first time, the transformation won't last more than five minutes. As the Kyuubi battles, the Hachibi doesn't stay behind and fights the Gobi. Gai witnesses everything, and feels like in a terror movie, a battle of monsters like Godzilla (incredible line). Naruto finally locates the five metal bars, but Tobi decides to attack to kill: he orders the five beasts to create a huge Bijuu dama. Kurama uses all his power as the Nine Tails Fox, and creates his own Bijuu dama, with a similar size, and throws it right below against the other one. This way, the shot makes both spheres to fly away. Naruto quickly takes advantage of the explosion distracting everyone to reach the five metal bars at the same time. Yet, in the moment he makes contact, he enters another dimension. The whole battle scene was done brilliantly. It was like a Godzilla fight without doubt, made me remember Pacific Rim too. Could have lasted a little longer. Animation simply stunning. A worthy japanese tribute to such fights. Gai added a comedic tone as usual, by commenting the scene. The impact of both Bijuu damas was great, Kurama is pretty smart after all. It's physics, as throwing a ball to impact another one from below will send it away. And well, even if the half of Kurama was there (as the other half was sealed with Minato), it tells how strong the Nine tailed Fox is. The number of tails may have influence on the power.

Then, Naruto is sent to a place in subconcious where he can meet the five other Bijuus. The Shukaku is not present because he is still inside the Gedo Mazo statue. Kurama tells him that this os a different place he could reach as now both are connected on a higher level. For that reason, the other five jinchurikis are present as well. Yugito welcomes him, then Yagura thanks him in representation of all the Bijuus. Anyway, by seeing Yagura, Naruto thinks he is younger than him and feels pity. The former Mizukage shouts at him, telling who he is, and asks to hear what the Yonbi encharged them. In the previous reunion, Son talked to the others about Naruto, that he gave him part of his power, and that he could be the one who mentioned by the Rikudo Sennin. He said that Naruto would help them. Before being pulled away, Roshi admitted to the Yonbi that their road together could have been different. Son laughed as Roshi was more stubborn than the Tsuchikage. But the jinchuriki at the end, called the Yonbi by his name, something he never did during 40 years. Right then, they disappeared. Utakata and Han continue saying they are gathered to fulfille the promise to the Yonbi. And so, one by one, they give their names: Matatabi (two tails Cat, Nibi) and Yugito, from Kumo. Isobu (three tails turtle), Sanbi) and Yagura, the 4th Mizukage. Kokuo (five tails horse, Gobi) and Han, from Iwa. Saiken (six tails slug, Rokubi) and Utakata, from Kiri. Choumei (seven tails beetle, Nanabi), and Fuu from Takigakure. After this, the five beasts join their hands with Naruto, to gift him part of their power. As Kurama sees this, he remembers the last meeting with the Rikudo Sennin, where the old Sage told the nine beasts about the future. They would be separated, but together at the same time. One day they would become one, and be guided in the right way. They will know what is true power. Then, Naruto succesfully takes out the metal bars from the Bijuus, as Kurama claims that the old sage was talking about him. Tobi is stunned to see how Naruto dominated the Kyuubi, still, thinks it's useless. He controls the situation, so the Gedo Mazo retrieves the five beasts with the chains. Despite this, Naruto remains confident, after the meeting with the Bijuus. These events establish the mythical connection between the Rikudo Sennin, who created the ninjutsu, and the tailed beasts from the Juubi, with Naruto. This leads to the usual, repeated stories about the hero being a chosen one. This probably feels a little out of the original storyline, as it has nothing to do with becoming Hokage, or not feeling lonely (Naruto's true goals). Some can take it, some not. Anyway, brings a closure to the tailed beasts. Now finally their names are on the table, same as their jinchurikis, who they were, and that all of them dominated their tailed beasts, even if they didn't get along well. Was good to see them all reunited like friends, and that's why feels bad they didn't meet sooner. There were a lot of possible stories to write about the six jinchurikis who almost had no background. I'd have liked more to see them and not an obssesive pursuit of Sasuke and his group during the anime. For instance, Roshi (his name is another tribute to Dragon Ball), and Han surely shared story with Onoki, but was never shown what happened. Roshi was captured by Kisame in a small fight. They deserved at least a background. Anyway, it is what it is. Then, B's role was kind of played down. He and the Hachibi were key to help Naruto and Kurama. They should have been present at the meeting. Naruto is given too much protagonism, leaving aside others. That's one of the few details wrong about the episode.
