Great story and solid acting
samicebergjohnson6 September 2016
Preying for Mercy is a solid action thriller that captivates you from the first 2 minutes and throws you in the deep until the last scene.

Starring Martha Byrne and Jayson Gladstone, preying for Mercy is a dark thriller which explores how our past can never be forgotten and will always catch up to us no matter how far we run away. Martha does a brilliant job in this film with some amazing scenes that showcase her range of emotions. Gladstone has also a very solid performance as the cop who is being hunted for his past. The rest of the cast does a good job too. Gladstone plays an LAPD cop who gets a hit put on him because of his past, and he must chase down and solve the problem before its to late for him and his family. With a shorter run time, the film still manages to get some serious action scenes across as well as have the time to build characters and plot in extreme detail.

Bill Duke does a great job of directing this film, giving it heart and enough action to please everyone. With only having a run time of 40 minutes and so much character development and story progression you will be amazed at how quickly and smoothly the story flows.

If you want to be entertained and see some great action scenes then do your self a favor and have a look at Preying for Mercy

Awesome Cop Movie!

I am a sucker for cop films. I love them. Good cops, bad cops, cops with a past, RoboCops, you name it. I find police work fascinating so I am alway on the lookout for a good cop flick.

Preying For Mercy is my newest find. And it has made me incredibly happy. It has some real star power with two time Emmy award winner Martha Byrne in a featured role. It is also directed by Hollywood legend Bill Duke. Whilt the budget was small, there is nothing to indicate that on screen. Duke does an excellent job with some great shots and interesting camera work.

I don't want to give too much of the plot away but the story centers around a cop (played by Jayson Gladstone) who has moved to Los Angeles because he is running from his past. Unfortunately, his past catches up with him in the form of a hit-man who is out to get him and his entire family.

From this point on there is much drama, plot twists and some good action scenes. Overall the pacing of this film is good. There are a few spots where I think it lags a bit but I am somewhat of an action junkie.

I strongly recommend this film to anyone who like drama and intrigue in their movies. I bought this film on Vimeo but you can rent it as well. A simple Internet search will direct you to the site.
