"You can't hide your lyin' eyes" - The Eagles

This film tells a great story of treachery, love, and revenge.

"Eyes of the Mummy" (1918) Release date - October 20, 2022, was directed by Ernst Lubitsch whose talent can be seen in many other films such as Carmen (1918). Strangely enough, Carmen also had actors Pola Negri, and Harry Liedtke from this movie. We also do not want to overlook Emil Jannings who went on to being popular in the film Der blaue Engel (1930).

"Eyes of the Mummy" was original produced at UFA studios. You will want to read the book "The UFA Story: A History of Germany's Greatest Film Company 1918-1945" by Klaus Kreimeier, Robert Kimber, et al. ISBN-13 - 978-0809094837.

The film is silent with a musical overlay. The film is also monochrome and in a few places not that clear to look at. The version I viewed was Alpha Video so there was no restoration attempt.

There are some non-Alphas, such as Studio - MR. FAT-W VIDEO, Release date - April 8, 2016. Studio - Reel Vault, Release date - July 13, 2015. Studio - Grapevine Video, Release date - May 29, 2012.

Just do not expect any ragged mummies to pop out and steal some girl's ancient essence.
