Akshay Kumar’s Comedy Franchise Box Office To Enter The 1000 Crore Total With Welcome 3 & Other Sequels? ( Photo Credit – YouTube )
Akshay Kumar has been out of the number game for a long time. After Sooryavanshi, the actor, who was once considered the golden goose at the box office, had a disastrous year with a string of flops. He had been keeping low, and his films have failed to meet expectations.
But it seems like the actor is ready to change gears from his ever-favorite Deshbhakti mode to the tried and tested comedy role. Akshay reinvented himself at the box office with a string of comedy films in the 2000s, and the actor seems to go down the same route yet again.
As the third installment of Welcome, popularly called Welcome 3 and tentatively titled Welcome To Jungle, has started its journey, we tried researching the numbers Akshay Kumar has churned out with his comedy franchises.

Among the most enduring films––not only from the furtive creative period of the 1970s, but all of cinema history––Terrence Malick’s second feature Days of Heaven is a work of ravishing beauty. Like most in that rarified echelon, its path wasn’t easy––Malick clashed with crew as he rebelled against the standardized approaches of cinematography and production, then took two years in the editing room to shape the film (admittedly a short time compared to his modern method) and discover Linda Manz’s essential voiceover. Any battles were well worth the fight as, 45 years later, his 1916-set love triangle tale is often cited as the most visually exquisite film ever made.

Richard Moll, the fun-loving actor who portrayed the towering and tenderhearted bailiff Aristotle Nostradamus “Bull” Shannon on all nine seasons of the popular NBC sitcom Night Court during its original run, has died. He was 80.
Moll died peacefully Thursday at his home in Big Bear Lake, California, his publicist announced.
Suitable for his 6-foot-8 frame, Moll played an abominable snowman alongside Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach in the comedy feature Caveman (1981), and he was a scary, decomposing Vietnam veteran in the horror film House (1986).
Moll also did lots of voiceover work, with a regular gig as the immortal bodyguard Norman on the syndicated series Mighty Max and turns as Harvey Dent/Two-Face for three Batman cartoons.
Moll had a shaved head — he did that to play the warrior Hurok in the sci-fi film Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn (1983) — when he auditioned for the role of Shannon on Night Court, created by Reinhold Weege.

John Travolta was 21 years old in 1975, and he had no idea how much his life was about to change. He’d just been cast in an ABC sitcom, playing a Brooklyn high school student who was, almost literally, too cool for school. Though Welcome Back, Kotter was designed as a vehicle for comedian Gabe Kaplan, it was Travolta’s Vinnie Barbarino who stole the show. He became an overnight sensation, with his face landing on magazine covers and lunchboxes everywhere, and on his summer breaks from Kotter, he starred in two of the decade’s biggest movies, Saturday Night Fever and Grease. Caught up in a whirlwind of success, Travolta once told us that he doesn’t even remember filming many of the Kotter episodes that made him a star. We’re shrinking down once again, and as Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania comes to streaming, it’s time to look back at the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s divisive Phase 5 debut. Paul Rudd’s pint-sized hero joins Og Avengers Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor in the exclusive trilogy club, while boosting the Multiverse Saga forward.
Despite Quantumania putting the pieces in place for the franchise-shattering Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), some argue you could’ve skipped the end without missing much – apart from Modok’s CGI butt. Whispers from behind the scenes suggest the ending was reshot in something of a hurry, and although it seems like an odd decision to make, there’s a wild theory that this alternate ending is here for a specific reason.

When John Farrar turned up to a movie set at dawn clutching a demo of his hastily written “emergency song”, he didn’t have high hopes. The call had only come in the previous day, crying out for a last-minute number to plug a hole in the musical score for when the greaser with heart gets the good girl turned bad. Farrar hadn’t exactly been inspired in scratching it together – “desperate is probably the word”, he says. The director took one listen and hated it, but the last-day-of-school shot was already set up and they were all out of options. A choreographer threw together a dance routine on the spot. The scene went in the can inside seven hours, and so wrapped this hokey teen musical presumably bound for oblivion.

In the 1950s, the motion picture industry wanted nothing to do with the young medium of television — but Jack Warner soon realized that was a losing battle.
Warner Bros. was among the first to dive into TV production, when ABC approached the studio about acquiring a theatrical film package. But instead of just running films on TV, the result was “Warner Bros. Presents,” an umbrella series that debuted in 1955 and comprised programs based on existing intellectual property including “Casablanca” and “Cheyenne.”
The success of “Cheyenne” ushered the era of the Western to television, as Warner Bros. brought a movie studio approach to the small screen. “There’s a spirit of independence and innovation that’s so much a part of the legacy of the studio,” says Warner Bros. TV chairman Channing Dungey. Other early Warner Bros. TV hits included “Maverick” and crime dramas such as “Hawaiian Eye” and “77 Sunset Strip.

It's been nearly a decade since "Community" wrapped up its six-season run, and the cult favorite comedy still offers a rewarding rewatch. While some parts of the Dan Harmon-made series have aged poorly, others are even funnier with time, thanks to a cast full of rising stars and industry veterans. Not all of the show's best jokes came straight from the mouths of Donald Glover or Danny Pudi, though; several of the best parts of "Community" actually take place in the background.
While most network sitcoms barely utilize the space within the camera's frame, "Community" makes good use of every inch of it, with jokes unfolding in the background as well as the foreground. In one episode, Abed (Pudi) helps deliver a baby in the Greendale parking lot while the rest of the study group is busy trying to help Pierce (Chevy Chase) process his mom's death. The subplot...

A lot of TV show theme songs become famous without ever becoming hit singles. However, these classic rock TV theme songs are the exception to the rule. Notably, one of the songs in question was supposed to sound like The Lovin’ Spoonful.
Batman and Robin | Silver Screen Collection / Contributor 4. ‘Welcome Back’ from ‘Welcome Back Kotter’
According to Stereogum, TV producer Alan Sacks created the premise of the show Welcome Back, Kotter. He decided the theme song for the show should sound like The Lovin’ Spoonful, enlisting The Lovin’ Spoonful’s John Sebastian to write a song for the series.
Sebastian wanted to write a song called “Kotter” but this proved impossible, as the only word that rhymes with “Kotter” is “otter.” Sebastian wrote a tune called “Welcome Back” that stuck with the show. In addition, “Welcome Back” became a No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100. The track became Sebastian’s...

Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania is bookended by two montages of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) wandering through San Francisco to John Sebastian's Welcome Back. You might recognise John as the lead singer of The Lovin' Spoonful, and the song as the theme for late Seventies sitcom 'Welcome Back Kotter'. The show was originally going to be called 'Kotter', but they changed the name to reflect the theme song, which though it was commissioned for the series ended up changing its name because there weren't any good rhymes for the name of the character.
"Why...", you might ask, "not change the name of the character?". Teacher Gabe Kotter was played by stand-up comedian Gabe Kaplan so there was already precedent. [Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers for “Mrs. Fletcher,” including the ending.]
“Mrs. Fletcher” has reached its end, but there’s reason to hold out hope for Season 2. Though HBO developed Tom Perrotta’s adaptation as a limited series, both the creator and star, Kathryn Hahn, are game to continue Eve’s story in future seasons.
“This ending is an ending of an arc, not an ending of a life,” Perrotta told IndieWire. “So, yes, I think there’s more room. One thing I learned from ‘The Leftovers’ was to just treat every season as if it were the last. But yes, there’s more to tell if that opportunity arises.”
After seven charming, illuminating, half-hour episodes, the series finale closed with a three-way Sunday night — a jarring but fitting conclusion to two coming-of-age stories.
To quickly recap the finale, Brendan (Jackson White) returns home after bottoming out at college, and immediately walks in on his mother, Eve (Kathryn Hahn), at the apex of her awakening.

Filmmaker Anees Bazmee's new multistarrer comedy flick "Pagalpanti" opens this weekend, flaunting a vast ensemble cast including Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Ileana D'Cruz, Saurabh Shukla, Arshad Warsi, Kriti Kharbanda, Urvashi Rautela and Pulkit Samrat. Like all of Bazmee's comedies of the past, the film promises to bring back the trademark quota of slapstick.
"I want my films to make people laugh and be happy. Life is short. In your oldage, when you look back, you will mostly remember the happy moments. Today, people are under a lot of stress, be it in career, source of income, taking care of kids' education or weddings. There are so many reasons to worry that people are gradually forgetting to smile. I want to give people a few moments of laughter through my films. At a time when biopics, especially life stories of sporting icons, are a trend, B-Town hottie Urvashi Rautela has expressed her eagerness to play famous Olympian Pt Usha in a film on her life.
"Not many people know I am an athlete. I am a national basketball champion. I was the girls' captain of the team. I am a sportsperson, so I think no one can be a better choice than me for the role of Pt Usha. I have been a racer. I have participated in a lot of hurdles and races, and won many. So, I think I will fit in any sports biopic. Also, the filmmakers will not have to waste their time in terms of training me," Urvashi told Ians.

"1942: A Love Story" is undoubtedly one of the finest films in Anil Kapoors career. Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 1994 release is still remembered for the unforgettable romantic songs Rd Burman composed for the film.

During an interaction with Ians, Anil revealed why he had reservations about signing Chopra's ambitious project, to begin with. " '1942: A Love Story' was the only love story I did. I was very uncomfortable. Initially, I refused to do the film. I told them clearly that I wouldn't be able to do such a role," he recalled.
He added: "I even suggested Aamir Khan and Bobby Deol for the role. I asked them, from which angle do I look romantic? I was already a father of three kids at that time. But they convinced me.

A biopic about legendary pop siblings The Bee Gees is being spearheaded by Paramount Pictures.
The Bee Gees are set for an outbreak of their signature brand of night fever at theaters, with the story of the iconic Aussie sibling pop act set to join the recent genre surge of music biopics in the aftermath of Rami Malek's acclaimed performance as Queen's Freddie Mercury in the hit movie, Bohemian Rhapsody.
Indeed, a yet-to-be-titled biopic project centered on the 220 million-record-selling trio, The Bee Gees, will be brought about by a producer trifecta spearheaded by Paramount Pictures, reports Deadline. Paramount acquired the rights to dramatize the story from the Gibb family estate, chronicling the travails of siblings Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb from their beginnings as a rock act, career nadirs and, ultimately, their reinvention as disco kings, culminating with their culturally-ubiquitous smash hits from the soundtrack of 1977 film Saturday Night Fever.

Exclusive: Paramount Pictures is teaming with upstart producer-financier Sister and Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King to mount a movie about the Bee Gees, the trio whose worldwide sales of more than 220 million records established them as one of the biggest-selling groups of all time. While Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb first began performing together in the late 1950s, much of their popularity came after they wrote songs for Saturday Night Fever that prolonged the popularity of disco and led to one of the top-selling albums ever.
Paramount has purchased the life rights to the Gibb family estate on behalf of Gk’s King and will be able to use their classic songs in the movie. Sister — the venture just launched by Elisabeth Murdoch, Stacey Snider and Chernobyl producer Jane Featherstone — will come aboard as either a producing partner or a co-financier.

The filmmaker recently got candid about what makes the cast of this movie so special.
When asked, what is special about the gang of actors in Pagalpanti, he said, “The cast is really special because I have worked with Anil Kapoor in so many films. This would be my eleventh film with him. Also, I have earlier worked with John Abraham in Welcome Back (2015). In that film, he hardly had two comedy scenes. His expressions in those scenes were so impressive that back then, I had told him that one day I would like to direct him in a full-fledged comic role. When I approached him for this film, he said...

In the mid-1970s, ABC introduced a pair of unique comedies that tried to shake things up a little bit. One was the Hal Linden cop sitcom Barney Miller, while the other was stand-up comedian Gabe Kaplan’s high school-set Welcome Back, Kotter. The premise of the latter (which introduced John Travolta to the world) had Gabe playing Gabe Kotter, a teacher with a sense of humor who takes a job at his alma mater, James Buchanan High School, located in Brooklyn, New York. He’s given a classroom of juvenile delinquents known as the Sweathogs, and assigned by school assistant principal Michael Woodman to keep them “contained” until they either drop out or somehow manage to graduate. But, instead, Kotter, who was one of the original Sweathogs in his youth, tries to connect with them to make them better people in the process. It sounds more like a serious drama (going way back,...

Marvel is currently prepping up for production on The Punisher Season 2 and thanks to some recently revealed character breakdowns, it looks like we might know what the story will entail. The information in those character breakdowns points to the second season possibly adapting Garth Ennis' acclaimed "The Slavers" story arc from the comic book in the mid-2000s.
In a recent report from That Hashtag Show, Marvel is looking for two actor to take on the role of a couple of characters who will be series regulars. Those characters are Annie Bier and Kim Davis.
For Annie, they want to cast an 18-year-old female to play a 16-year-old and the character is described as, "someone who is used to the streets and is both scrappy and aware of her environment." As for Kim, they want and actress in her mid-30s of any ethnicity and she will be a therapist.

Almost invariably, the most important element of a good documentary is fascinating subject matter, and Tim Wardle unquestionably zeroed in on that with Three Identical Strangers. Chronicling the startling history of Robert Shafran, Edward Galland and David Kellman, triplets separated at birth who grew up oblivious to one another's existence, the film starts out like a jaunty sitcom, featuring three likable lugs with toothy grins who might have stepped off the set of Welcome Back, Kotter. They look like they were cloned from Andy Samberg. But as the euphoria of reconnection subsides and disconcerting questions begin to arise, a mystery...

Anees Bazmee-directed comedy about an arranged marriage will win no awards for subtlety, but it delivers zippy musical numbers and a first-rate ensemble cast
The Hindi comedy specialist Anees Bazmee made his name with a series of broad, knockabout romps. Welcome (2007) and Welcome Back (2015) cemented a commercially successful partnership with Anil Kapoor; between these two projects, he was linked with a never-realised Indian remake of The Hangover.
Subtlety is not Bazmee’s forte. Rather than tickle his audience with a feather, he prefers smacking us round the head with a saucepan, usually while jabbing hard at the sound effects button. He also revels in wildly complicated plots – curiously, this frantic gagman seems as influenced by Shakespeare in this respect as the elegant classicist Vishal Bhardwaj.

Ok Jaanu (ignore the yucky title) is smart, slick heartwarming and utter endearing as Shaad, from material moulded in Mani’s imagination , forges out an urban love story set in the city that gives love a shove for more practical considerations, like making a living and realizing your ambitions.
Meet Adi and Tara, a couple so believable in their exuberant ambitions and the determination to lock their mutual adoration in a chastity belt, that you can’t help feeling exasperated at their blindness to see the obvious.
Yes, love is in the air. It’s...

Hoping that the audience will like his work, Ranjeet went on to state that while people generally graduate from theatre to films, it has been the other way round for him. Ranjeet was last seen in a play way back in 2001. Besides this, the 69 year old actor also expressed his desire to judge a comedy reality show. On the Bollywood front, Ranjeet is making...

Credited with Bollywood’s popular laugh riots “No Entry” and “Welcome”, filmmaker Anees Bazmee says comedy is the toughest genre to work on for a writer, and when a movie is loaded with double entendres, it’s merely a “shorcut”.
Of late, the Hindi film industry has witnessed a surge in comedy entertainers, but a sex comedy laced with sexual innuendos seem to be the current favourite flavour. Bazmee is not all for it.
“There are some good comedy films even now, but comedy films which are double-meaning and are a shortcut. I don’t want to make them and I don’t want to watch them. I don’t want to even say whether they are good or bad… My personal choice is to work around buffoonery,” Bazmee told Ians in an interview.
The maker of movies like “Singh Is Kinng”, “Thank You”, “Ready” and “Welcome Back”, said he...

Anil Kapoor's last promotional event of '24' seems to have dragged the actor in a sort of legal trouble. After western railway issued a notice, an Ngo has filed a complaint against the actor turned producer for the train ride.
Earlier we had reported that Anil Kapoor boarded a train from Churchgate station to Borivali as a part of the promotional campaign of his upcoming series '24'. But this landed the actor in a soup after pictures of him enjoying the ride on the footboard went viral. Western Railway raised an objection over the same stating that the actor did not follow the terms and conditions related to safety measures thereby encouraging the younger generation to do dangerous stunts.
And now, Sahas Foundation president Sayed Furqan Ahmed has filed complaint along with Railway Police Commissioner Niket Kaushik against the actor under the Indian Railways act. He claimed that Anil,...

Earlier we had reported that after the success of the first season of 24, Anil Kapoor was hell-bent on making season 2 of the show for Indian television audiences. Now we hear that Nana Patekar who has previously worked with Anil on films like Parindaa, Welcome and Welcome Back will also be part of the show, rather uniquely. Confirming the same, a source close to Anil Kapoor said, "Yes Nana will be part of the second season of 24, however he will not be featuring in it as an actor. In fact Nana has lent his voice to the monologue that begins the second season recapping what happened in the previous one and also talking about what to expect in the forthcoming season." If that wasn't enough, we hear that Nana Patekar has already recorded his voice for the series.
