Novak hands Red a book with a black and white image of the Effigy, covering about half of the page. When Red looks at it, the image has changed to a colour image that fits the whole page.
The painting in Red's borrowed apartment, supposedly Vermeer's "A Young Woman Seated at the Virginal" is about 3 times the size of the actual work. The original which is one of Vermeer's smallest paintings is only 9 7/8" x 7 7/8" (25.2 cm x 20 cm.)

Ms. Pratt leaves a bank in Istanbul (Turkey) and as she steps out of the bank she covers her head with a head-scarf. In Turkey women do not wear head-scarves unlike women in Iran. Turkey is an independent republic and only 10% of women wear hijabs due to their Islamic beliefs. 30% of old women wear head-scarves due to traditions which has nothing to do with religion. According to the law, which was passed by the first President Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1934, wearing hijabs is strictly forbidden in the basic law.
