This theme of the ill and operated doctor remembers me the famous film "The Doctor" directed by Randa Haines with William Hurt,Christine Lahti and Elizabeth Perkins.In both films the doctor becomes the patient and lives a new situation.The situation of Jean-Pierre Berthelot is a little different: his professsional liffe is perfect but his private is a real disaster (two children from former marriages,etc.Also he decides to to go to a public hospital (the famous C.H.U. Centre hospitalier universitaire) where he knows now how that public is working.After some problemas with the nurse, doctor and his neighbour Gaston he begins to understand a lot of thing and to be more friendly with them.The film is based on a book written by Alain Deloche who lived this experience.The performances of Pierre Arditi,Marie Bunel,Henri Guybet and Firmine Richard are excellent. The film is quite pleasant , critical but also with a touch of humanity and humour !!
