I felt bad for Ray Liotta and Sophie Turner, they must have done this for free, what an absolutely awful movie. The unknown actress, Meadow Williams who plays Liottas wife can't act to save her soul, she A truly unbelievable story, that lacked a decent script coupled with a lack of talent. I can't stress enough, pick anything else because this was a joke, did i mention Meadow Williams she will make you laugh.

Pay Attention to What is going on

Warning: Spoilers
Freeman Bender (Mark Kassan) has PTSD and a history of violence. Charges were dropped as long as he stays on his meds. He spends his money on Elly (Ivana Milicevic) a prostitute. Penny (Sophie Turner) a 17 year old girl likes the dark needy personality of Freeman and thinks she can turn his life around. Their relationship remains non-sexual at his insistence. Her parents do not approve and we soon discover Penny's father (Ray Liotta) has similar anger management issues as Freeman and we also later discover they share the prostitute. Small town that NYC is. In the end they all gather together at the dinner table like an Agatha Christie story.
I thought the story was unrealistic and messed up from beginning to end, especially the end. Didn't believe one single character.
Guide: F-word. Brief sex. Brief nudity.

Made no sense whatsoever.

You have a seventeen year (lousy acting Sophie Turner) old who falls for an older war vet with PTSD and she brings him home to her family and her father is played by Ray Liotta who thinks he's still playing a role in Goodfellas...lol. You have a hooker who sleeps and falls in so called love with the war vet as well and a male friend of Sophie's who is jealous of him, wanting him dead. That is the story. This was one of those films that didn't make any sense whatsoever with an ending that was utterly and unequivocally, one of the worst that I seen in a very long time, I kid you not. Kudos to the exec producers for making it possible for everyone to get a paycheck from this trash.
Too Painful

Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) and Ray Liotta (Goodfellas)... folks that can act... got no direction in this paint by the numbers film. When you have a dumb script and no direction... this is what you get. Seven minutes in and you want out.

Hollywood, please stop making this trash. This is a movie about a guy with mental problems that befriends a selfish girl from a psychotic progressive family and....well...it doesn't end well for him. This is absolute garbage and a good example of why people are choosing to watch old movies and Korean movies. Bye Hollywood.

Good thing I was doing something else while watching it (On my rowing machine). Everything about this film was terrible. The acting, the writing, and and cinematography. There wasn't a single character who was likable in the movie. All disgusting individuals. Can I please have that 45 minutes back? Ugh!
Try to forget!

I'm totally out of words for this little piece of garbage. Take for instance the wife, it is a caricature of a bad actress; she is so bad that I believe that she is the one who financed the movie, that's the only way she can be on it. The only salvation is the NYC locations, NYC always brings beauty even in such a horrendous movie. The dining scene by the ending of the movie brings the worse of all, the stupid idea of killing the Soldier. I wonder how can somebody with knowledge of filmmaking decides for this terrible 😢 end! I can't even call a B movie because I will be offending the category.
If Dostoyevsky Wrote Comic Books

I cannot describe how I feel about this movie. It was absolutely horrible. So much so that I think I liked it. But it'll take me weeks to digest everything I just saw as I'm unsure any of it really makes sense; a war vet, a girl, a father, and a hooker. That would make a good love triangle, except the father was married, and a friend of the girl was jealous of the war vet, and he had a hard time believing that the war vet and his crush's father were both paying the hooker, and no girls liked him... So it makes perfect sense that in the end, the hooker cooks dinner for the entire family. And sits down and eat with them. The one thing, one thing I don't understand, is the relationship and purpose of the grandfather, except he is some sort of sideshow antagonist.
I encourage you to watch this film. It's like eating a Slim Jim. So bad for you, but, ohhhh, so good.

A Good Watch to pass the time

It would have been much better without that irritating actress Meadow Williams. The rest of the cast was great except for the one male high school friend who was also obnoxious . Anyways, whoever cast her should be fired. She was horrible and irritatingly bad. The ending was a shocker but I guess that's what they go for when they write scripts like this. Ray Liotta with his usual gangster self played a father who was trying to keep his cool in a very trying situation. The situation that every father with a beautiful young daughter dreads and hopes never happens to their daughter. There was also a young high school kid playing one of her friends a very irritating in Young man, you'll know the one he really made my skin crawl. He's the kind of friend that you don't want around. The obnoxious one who always instigates things. He's the kind of friend you wanna rip his head off.

Everyone's performance in this film left a lot to be desired, even the veterans. The actress (Meadow Williams) playing the wife was had the most laughably unnatural performance. Then there was the utterly pointless and confusing plot they left you wondering what was the point of anything you just watched.
Omg the actress for 'Jane' yawn yawn
cindyrellaexists5 July 2022
This was a story worth telling but unfortunately it was incredibly boring. Ray Liotta deserved better. The actress that played Jane, the mother was only memorable because of how horrible her acting was.
Ugh this could have been so much better.

The story line had potential but it fell flat (pun intended), you'll only get it if you watch til the end, but I strongly recommend you don't. Don't waste your time watching this movie, the end is a let down, it's confusing, does not make sense.
Also, HORRIBLE acting by Meadow Williams (Jane- the mom).
Not sure how Ray Liotta and Sophie Turner agreed to do this movie.

This has got to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. I was deeply interested when I saw the listing because of the legend Ray Liotta, i like Shopie Turner, and who doesn't love Hector Salamanca?
It started out with a typical school girl crush on an older man when they bump into one another on the street. She's aggressive in her attempts to get to know him. I was thinking he was never going to get close to her because of the age difference and that she's a minor, but she forces herself into his life until he finally gives in.
I did like the fact they were never intimate so that's what the one star is for. The rest of it made absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Questions I need answered
1. What is the secret?
2. How did she get a key to his place?
3. How did he get invited to a family dinner?
4. Why did the Dad want to get rid of him?
5. What is the escort's role and what did she know?
The father kept saying hos daughter would understand, but there was no answer to how or why! Every actor was horrible, especially the mother. I just can't believe how awful this film was in every way. Script, directing, editing, and filming was a complete mess.
I scoured the internet to find an explanation and there isn't one. No one liked this movie. Don't waste your time.

Most People Won't Understand
LizKenny-0676329 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It's not shocking that the majority of viewers don't understand this movie, it's honestly dark and genius. You need to have a deep resignation with selflessness, self-loathing, love and depression to truly grasp what's happening as the movie unfolds. This soldier hates himself, hates that he's alive, hates the things he's seen and gone through. He starts falling for an underage girl because he sees her as pure and doesn't want to ruin that, in fact he wants to protect her with everything he has left. He turns to a prostitute because like everyone he has carnal needs that she can fulfill but she falls for him because unlike the usual cheating, abusive, dirt, pathetic johns she's used to, she can tell he's different and that he struggles with similar internal feelings as her own. Jealousy rams rampant in every character of this story and to be honest there needs to be more character background or development to give a more well rounded vision to viewers. Ultimately the meaning of the ending is that while the father was prepared to kill the man for not loving his daughter and feeling he's taken advantage of her, he realizes that the man's willingness to die for her better good is actually a true indication of how much he does love her and how good he is. The man then decides to take his own life, saying "you're welcome" to the father before jumping from the building to signify that he knows he will never be good enough for her, that there is no changing that and in order for her to move on he has to die, but he's willing to take his own life to save the relationship between father and daughter because she would never forgive him if he killed the man she loves.

This movie was just weird. The ending had me thinking I missed something. Awful. I should've known it was going to be bad when their ages were revealed. Too many good actors in this for it to have been so bad. I mean, was there a prequel that I haven't seen? A backstory or something? Fine print somewhere? I can never get that time back and it upsets me a little.

I decided to watch this because I like the big actors in it.
Kept watching because we thought some plot twist had to be coming. I feel bad to rate something poorly.. it was someone's artistic vision... But man, I really didn't get this one. The ending was soooo confusing. It was terrible really.
The only thing I thought it was maybe trying to get across is that be the kind of father and husband that your daughter will look for in a partner.
