Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will forever be one of the most loved characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While he started off as an antagonist, his slow but steady redemption arc made us all fall in love with him. Thor: Ragnarok saw one of the best versions of Loki but we all know what happened after that and let’s just not revisit it as the wounds are still pretty fresh.
Tom Hiddleston in and as Loki
Then came the Disney+ series Loki which completely changed the character and while we didn’t think we could love him more, we did. And now, we can not even imagine another actor in Tom Hiddleston’s shoes. However, did you know that he actually auditioned to play Thor? Well, let’s just say that we are thankful the casting team saw potential in him as Loki.

Marvel hasn't been having the best time of late and the shaky attempt to recapture lightning in a bottle that was "Thor: Love and Thunder" is a good example. Whereas its predecessor, "Thor: Ragnarok," saw star Chris Hemsworth leaning into his comedic sensibilities to great effect, even Hemsworth himself agreed that "Love and Thunder" was just too silly. But when the God of Thunder made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut all the way back in 2011, the opposite was true.
Whereas "Iron Man," the film that changed Hollywood forever by kicking off the massively popular interconnected universe, was led by Robert Downey Jr. and his magnetic charisma, 2011's "Thor" was a darker affair that embraced the character's origins and delivered what was essentially a fantasy adventure with relative unknowns in the lead roles of Thor and Loki. In the late-aughts, Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston did not enjoy the superstar status they do today,...

Chris Hemsworth got "bored" of himself and suggested playing Thor has stopped him from being "stretched".The 40-year-old actor was delighted to land the role of warlord Dementus in his new movie 'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' because it left him feeling invigorated, having spent so long feeling he was "stuck".Admitting it is his favourite role in over 10 years, Chris told Sunday Times Culture magazine: “I felt stuck in what I had been doing. I’d run out of things to say creatively and Furiosa reinvigorated the artistic energy that was dormant. I felt spent at the end of a day, rather than... It’s a departure.“I was bored of myself, yeah. I was not bored of the opportunities I’d been given, but it all started to feel familiar." I’d done film upon film that fell into a similar space and I wasn’t stretching myself.

Chris Hemsworth, better known to many as Thor, has been wreaking havoc in the world of Mad Max as Dr. Dementus and having the time of his life. A step away from the fictional world of Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor looks brilliant and surprisingly does an impeccable job playing Dementus, despite having played a character like Thor for decades.
Chris Hemsworth as Dr. Dementus in Furiosa
He might have moved on to the Mad Max franchise, but Hemsworth has not forgotten his Marvel roots and wants another go at Thor after the Love & Thunder fiasco. And Marvel fans believe George Miller is a good choice to direct Thor 5 after the director expressed he is willing to work with Hemsworth again.

Long before headlining Amazon Prime’s The Boys series as Billy Butcher, Karl Urban attempted to lead a comic book film Dredd. The film was based on the comic strip Judge Dredd created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra for the 2000 Ad comic magazine. However, Urban’s film was not the first adaptation of Judge Dredd, as Sylvester Stallone did it first in his 1995 film of the same name.
Karl Urban as Judge Dredd in Dredd (2012)
Even though both the Judge Dredd films underperformed financially, Karl Urban had an upper hand. Urban’s version was liked by critics and is also regarded as a cult classic by fans. Even the home media sales of Dredd were impressive.
It looks like The Boys fame already expected his film to be on higher ground as he had a savage message for Sylvester Stallone on the release of his remake.

By now, it’s widely acknowledged that the MCU has encountered a challenging period, notably with the dismal performance of Marvel Studios in 2023, leading Disney to feature on the list of major box-office flops.
Consequently, Iger disclosed plans for a substantial reduction in output, with a shift towards producing only 2-3 movies annually along with two shows.
After 16 years, the MCU spans across 5 phases, with Phase 4 often criticized as the weakest. In Taika Waititi's 2022 film "Thor: Love and Thunder," an emotionally wounded man named Gorr (Christian Bale) has learned that the very real gods of the Marvel universe are selfish, uncaring, and are more interested in cavorting with nymphs and naiads than answering prayers. By happenstance, he comes into possession of a magical sword specifically designed for killing gods and takes on a quest to rid the universe of its living deities. "Love and Thunder" could have brought up some tantalizingly difficult questions about atheism, or the role of faith in the modern world. It could have mentioned the dubious function of gods in a universe that regularly produces superpowered uber-beings. It didn't. Instead, it was a whimsical slapstick comedy starring a hero who, like Homer Simpson, became dumber and dumber as the series progressed.

If Wolverine’s journey into the past from a time-tested, dystopian, and apocalyptic future in X-Men: Days of Future Past seemed like déjà vu to some fans, it could be logically explained to those who were invested in the mutant superhero team in the ’90s.

Rotten Tomatoes has shared an updated ranking of the "300 Best Movies of All Time" which they say are "reviewed and selected by Tomatometer-approved critics and Rotten Tomatoes users."
At #1? 1997's L.A. Confidential, a movie which has little to nothing in common with superheroes! However, comic book adaptations do factor into the list, with 11 in total making the cut.
According to the review aggregator, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is the best superhero movie ever, coming in at #21. Released in 2018, the Sony Pictures title grossed $384.3 million and won a "Best Animated Feature" Oscar in 2019 (making it the first non-Disney/Pixar movie to do so since 2011).
Also included in the list are The Dark Knight (#51), Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (#81), Spider-Man: No Way Home (#128), Avengers: Endgame, (#142), Iron Man (#145), Black Panther (#225), Logan (#228), Guardians of the Galaxy (#254), Thor: Ragnarok (#274), and The Avengers (#286).
Needless to say, we're sure these selections will generate some discussion!

It won’t be wrong to say that Thor’s role is Chris Hemsworth’s magnum opus. The Norse god was one of Marvel’s original team of Avengers, even forming a part of the team that took on Loki and the Chitauri in the Battle of New York.
He’s been one of the mainstays in the Industry. No wonder that he felt sad with giving his faithfuls an experience to forget in Thor: Love and Thunder. The 2022 flick failed to build on the success of Thor: Ragnarok, one of the Men in Black: International star’s biggest regret. But there is another role that gave him a lot of headache.

Thor Star Chris Hemsworth Reveals Whether He And Brother Liam Were Competing For God Of Thunder Role
When Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston were cast in Thor, they were largely dismissed as "nobodies." It seems Marvel Studios wanted unknowns, though, as we know of at least a few other names considered for the McU's God of Thunder, including Chris' brother, Liam.
He'd go on to star in The Hunger Games movies, famously dated Miley Cyrus, and is now gearing up to take over from Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in the final two seasons of The Witcher.
Chris, now a major movie star with several franchises to his name, has opened up on both his and Liam's attempts to be cast as Thor, revealing that while they both auditioned, they were never going up against each other simultaneously.

In the Marvel movies, Chris Hemsworth made us all fall in love as the God of Thunder, aka Thor. We cannot imagine any actor playing the character with such conviction. The actor has played Thor in 4 solo movies and several Avengers movies. We all know that Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki, also auditioned for the character. But did you know Chris’ brother Liam was also one of the contenders?
Yes, you read it right! Liam Hemsworth was also considered to be cast as Thor in the MCU movies. Liam had auditioned and impressed the makers, which made Chris Hemsworth jealous of his brother. The Extraction actor revealed the same in a new interview.

Chris Hemsworth had his career-defining role in 2011 with the MCU film Thor. Since then, the actor has been in multiple Marvel films, playing the God of Thunder. While the actor has also appeared in films such as Extraction and Snow White and the Huntsman, he became a worldwide star and one of the highest-paid actors with the Thor and Avengers films.
However, the fourth solo film in the franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder was not as well-received as its predecessors. Despite being a commercial success, the film was criticized for its shoddy VFX and writing. Hemsworth has now come out and taken responsibility for the film’s disappointing response.

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is widely seen as the weakest of Thor’s solo films in the MCU. Directed by Taika Waititi, it took a campy approach to Thor and his foe Gorr the God Butcher. This marked a significant departure from the more successful ‘Thor: Ragnarok.’
Chris Hemsworth admitted in an interview with Vanity Fair that he holds himself responsible for the movie’s shortcomings, regretting his role in mocking a beloved character.
Chris Hemsworth recognized that Marvel fans should get another ‘Thor’ movie after the letdown of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ in 2022. He had admitted before that the fourth movie was “too silly,” and it still weighs on him.
I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself. I didn’t stick the landing.
Hemsworth also confessed that he always felt his co-stars in the ‘Avengers’ movies had much cooler things to do.

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is by far and wide accepted as the worst release in Thor’s standalone series in the MCU. Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie was a campy take on both Thor and one of his most notorious villains – Gorr the God Butcher.
It was definitely a drastic shift from ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ which is considered one of the best installments in the series. Now talking to Vanity Fair, Chris Hemsworth himself noted that he blames himself for the failure of the movie, and blames himself for accepting to ridicule such a well-established character.
Chris Hemsworth acknowledged that Marvel fans deserve another ‘Thor’ movie following the perceived disappointment of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ in 2022. He previously admitted that the fourth installment was ‘too silly,’ and this criticism seems to linger for him.

Robert Downey Jr. thinks highly of one of his Avengers co-stars who had a much more difficult time figuring out his character in the initial stages of the MCU. Downey Jr. shared that Hemsworth’s character was a lot trickier to adapt than his billionaire playboy superhero, Chris Evans’ no-nonsense Cap, or Scarlett Johansson’s badass S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Being a God figure, Hemsworth and the director of the first film, Kenneth Branagh, had to balance the character’s complex psyche.

In the vast realm of Marvel Comics and among the plethora of enticing and intriguing characters, Thor, the God of Thunder, occupies a separate place and fan base. Known for his larger-than-life, regal personality, the comic version vastly differs from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fans have for years pointed out how the MCU took away the gravitas and depth of Thor by making him more humane and humorous, almost as if he was a parody of the comic book character. Hemsworth, in a new vulnerable and pretty intimate interview, revealed how he felt the same way about Thor.

In the Marvel Comics, when All-Father Odin first dubbed Thor as the God of Thunder, it was an ironic moniker, as the young crown prince of Asgard was terrified of thunderstorms as a child. Over time, Thor would go on to thoroughly earn this title after his life-altering exile in Midgard (Earth), explored in a milder capacity in Kenneth Branagh's "Thor," which cemented the character's irreplaceable status in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chris Hemsworth's rendition of the character, when contrasted to its comic counterpart, emerges as delightfully layered: Hemsworth's Thor is a mixture of sincere self-seriousness and dorky obliviousness, with equal parts strength and vulnerability contributing to an extremely likable superhero persona. Despite the character's godlike status, Thor's presence in the MCU almost had a grounding effect, where complexity and levity went hand in hand to steer stories that brimmed with grit and heart.

Chris Hemsworth has once again reflected on his role in the poor reception to Thor: Love and Thunder, shouldering the blame for leaning too much into the extreme silliness of the film.
In a new cover story with Vanity Fair, Hemsworth explained, “I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself. I didn’t stick the landing.”
The star of the Thor franchise previously spoke about the fourth installment with GQ last year, detailing his worry that the movie may have been “too silly,” prompting him to “do some other stuff for a while.”
In the interview with Vanity Fair, it’s clear Hemsworth’s feelings on the subject have only continued to solidify since then — but he’s torn between his desire to be “taken seriously” by directors like Greta Gerwig and Steven Spielberg, while also believing that “he owes the...

Chris Hemsworth doesn’t love “Thor: Love and Thunder.”
In a new Vanity Fair profile, the Australian actor criticized his performance in the 2022 Marvel movie, his fourth outing as the hammer-wielding superhero Thor. And he’d like to do another “Thor” movie to make up for it.
“Love and Thunder” was the followup to 2017’s “Thor: Ragnarok,” which is widely considered to be the best “Thor” movie and one of the best Marvel movies overall. Both films are directed by Taika Waititi, who brought his playful, improv-heavy style of comedy to the franchise. But while “Ragnarok” is beloved for its sense of humor, Hemsworth thinks “Love and Thunder” took it too far.

According to the origin of Marvel’s Thor, the All-Father Odin sends his son to Earth to learn humility. It sounds like Thor actor Chris Hemsworth has had to do the same thing.
Hemsworth’s Thor was riding high going into 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, following 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, which won over fans who dismissed his first two solo outings, as well as the strong emotional arc in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. But for many, Love and Thunder pushed the wacky sensibilities of writer/director Taika Waititi too far, resulting in a movie too glib to be funny. And Hemsworth agrees.
“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” the Aussie actor recently admitted to Vanity Fair. “I didn’t stick the landing.”
It’s easy to see why Hemsworth leaned so far into Waititi’s style for Love and Thunder.

Just before Avengers: Infinity War, many were pleased at the new life breathed into the Thor series when What We Do in the Shadows director Taika Waititi took on the undertaking of a big-budget franchise film. Thor: Ragnarok was a massive hit and it seemed like this new direction was a welcomed one for the God of Thunder. After Thor’s arc in the Infinity Saga seemingly concluded in Avengers: Endgame, it looked like some strange new adventures were on the horizon as he joined up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Then, Thor: Love and Thunder would bring back Waititi and an impressive cast for what would ultimately have a less-than-stellar reception.

When Taika Waititi released “Thor: Ragnarok” in 2017, the refreshingly comedic take on God Of Thunder was overwhelmingly well received, with fans loving the more irreverent take on the Norse God. Most critics and fans still consider it the best “Thor” film. However, the same cannot be said about 2022’s “Thor: Love and Thunder,” which left a bad taste in the mouth of the same franchise enthusiasts— its humor dialed up far too wacky and extreme for most.

Chris Hemsworth is still wincing at the reception of Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
The actor looked back on the goofily disappointing 2022 Marvel movie in a new profile in Vanity Fair.
“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” Hemsworth said. “I didn’t stick the landing.”
The profile noted that Hemsworth feels like he owes fans another Thor movie due to the fourth film’s reception.
The 40-year-old is perhaps being a bit hard on himself (something he admits he’s prone to do), given the film’s creative direction was largely driven by its co-writer and director, Taika Waititi, who previously led the Thor franchise to what’s universally considered its best film, 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. Also, while Love and Thunder might never be a fan favorite, it still grossed $760 million at the box office and has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 63 percent,...

Chris Hemsworth has expressed his disappointment at Thor: Love And Thunder, and there are hints that he may reprise the Thor role one more time.
Released in 2022, Thor: Love And Thunder didn’t do too badly for Marvel Studios – in fact, compared to 2023 offerings Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels, its $760m box office sounds downright rosy.
One person who wasn’t entirely happy with the superhero sequel, though – or at least his performance in it – was its star, Chris Hemsworth. Less than two years after Love And Thunder emerged in cinemas, Hemsworth has suggested he “didn’t stick the landing.”
Hemsworth’s comments have emerged in a glossy feature for Vanity Fair magazine – one of those pieces where the actor’s interviewed in their home surroundings with the words accompanied by pictures of them relaxing in baggy jumpers and cardigans.

Thor: Love and Thunder had all the makings of the best Marvel Studios movie ever. Heavily inspired by Jason Aaron's Thor run and featuring both The Mighty Thor and Gorr the God Butcher, the sequel has a lot going for it.
Among those plus points was Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi. He'd successfully reinvented the God of Thunder in that 2017 blockbuster and fans were excited to see what came next. Unfortunately, the result was a movie which largely disappointed fans and let down both its new and returning characters.
Waititi, who was given perhaps too much freedom with Thor: Love and Thunder, has largely shrugged off the complaints. Chris Hemsworth, however, has addressed them head-on and doesn't shy away from acknowledging where the movie fell short.

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a strange time for the franchise. The post-"Avengers: Endgame" era saw Kevin Feige and co. trying to shepherd the concept of the multiverse into our collective consciousness while simultaneously introducing a host of new heroes and somewhat reinventing the MCU for a new generation. Much of it worked well, with "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" holding things down on the cinematic front. Meanwhile, "WandaVision" and "Hawkeye" made a good case for the McU's streaming age being a good development — a case that was later ruined by the poorly-reviewed "Secret Invasion."
But for every good entry in Phase 4, there was a "Thor: Love and Thunder" or a "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" to undermine them. Thankfully, Phase 4 will always remain beloved for introducing us to one of the best arguments for the MCU expanding into the world of streaming television: "Loki.

Mark Ruffalo has been playing the role of Bruce Banner a.k.a Hulk in the MCU since The Avengers. The actor replaced Edward Norton after his appearance in The Incredible Hulk. Since then, Ruffalo has appeared in all the Avengers films, as well as Thor: Ragnarok and the Disney Plus series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
While the actor has been an irreplaceable part of the Og Avengers, he is one of the few to not receive a solo outing yet. The MCU has also not explored much more dangerous and scarier versions of the Hulk, who has gone berzerk multiple times in the comics. Fans especially want Kevin Feige to introduce Maestro, who was already seen in the game Marvel’s Avengers.

When discussing MCU characters, our focus often gravitates towards the Avengers and prominent villains. However, the MCU owes much of its success to secondary characters whose roles significantly influence the storyline.

Bruce Timm’s pioneering work with DC’s animated shows is a shining example of adaptations done correctly. While TV shows and movies are the main source of entertainment today, back then people were heavily into comic books. Adapting from that material is hard as it is, but keeping it fun for an audience who already knows the direction where your show is going can be even more difficult. And some fans love to spoil those who are new to the genre, flaunting their knowledge.

Keeping the storyline aside, such intense love for the film came because fans got to see their favorite Marvel superheroes together on the screen. The airport fight scene is still one of the fandom’s favorites! However, Chris Hemsworth was clearly missing from the party.

When Chris Hemsworth realized Captain America: Civil War was a thing and that many of his “friends from work” were going to be in it, he was quite worried about his future in the MCU. He came to the conclusion that Thor was being kicked out of the superhero universe and decided to confront the higher-ups about the fiasco.

About over 30 projects are currently in development when it comes to MCU, slated for release in the next two years, with ‘Thor 5’ among them, according to increasingly loud whispers. Recently, Taika Waititi addressed the possibility of directing the fifth installment of the God of Thunder’s saga in the MCU, casually brushing it off, indicating it’s not on his current agenda.
Fans breathed a collective sigh of relief at his statement. ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is widely regarded as the franchise’s pinnacle, with Taika masterfully blending humor and depth. However, some fans feel that ‘Love & Thunder’ veered off course during development. The film seemed to go overboard on many fronts, lacking a cohesive narrative and landing some jokes in questionable taste, leading to a perception of it being more of a parody than a serious superhero film.
It appears that the studio has taken note of the feedback from ‘Love & Thunder.

There are over 30 projects rumored to be in development and scheduled to be released sometime in the next two years, and ‘Thor 5’ is one of them, at least according to the rumors that are getting louder and louder. Recently, Taika Waititi commented on the possibility of him helming the fifth God of Thunder movie in the MCU, and he shrugged it off, saying that it’s really not on his schedule at the moment.
With this statement, fans collectively sighed in relief. ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is according to many fans considered to be the best installment in the franchise, Taika perfectly juggled the humor and somber tones of the movie, and then something happened during the development of ‘Love & Thunder.’ The movie went overboard with pretty much everything except for the good story, some jokes landed in bad taste with the movie more considered to be a parody take on the...
