In one scene, Vivian (Mila Kunis) clicks Walden's (Ashton Kutcher) key fob, causing his car's lights and horn to activate, then she throws him the keys and says, "Dude, there's your car!" Kutcher had previously starred in the movie "Dude, Where's My Car?"
This is the first episode featuring Mila Kunis, who was mentioned in an earlier episode as being impossible for Waldin to hook up with. Ashton and Mila co-stared on That '70s Show (1998), which she refers to in this episode as her parents' inspiration for her name, Vivian. She also refers to not being the Wicked Witch of the West a reference to both The Wizard of Oz (1939.) And a role she played in Oz the Great and Powerful (2013). Mila and Ashton later began dating in April 2012 and they are now married.
When Walden is imagining being in a black and white '60s sitcom he does a forward flip as he crosses the living room. This is a take off from the The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961). In the opening credits, 'Rob Petrie' would often comically trip over the ottoman. Rob would sometimes head for the ottoman and at the last second do a quick sidestep. When Walden does his flip they play a piano sound very similar as when Rob would trip.
Mila Kunis (Vivian) & Clark Duke (Barry) also worked together on Bad Moms (2016) as Amy & Dale Kipler respectively.
