It's a weakness.

This episode gave us a good backstory into how Garrett recruited Ward, and a great job getting to the end of the season's plot.

Let's start with Ward, we saw why he truly believes and stays with Garrett. He was pulled out of juvi and trained him to be a survivor. It was really depressing when Garrett told Ward to kill his dog. As a dog owner with a well trained, happy, friendly dog, I could never do that and it looks like Ward couldn't either. However, the dog was still seen through the scope of a rifle so it was difficult to tell whether it was Ward or Garrett who pulled the trigger and even if the trigger was even pulled as it transitioned into a different scene.

Having the team infiltrate Cybertek this episode was real fun as Coulson and May acted like Fitz and Simmons. It was also a very good twist that the first subject in the Deathlok program was Garrett. As explained in the show, Garrett wants the Tahiti drug for himself. It was also good that the team was split up as Fitz and Simmons went off on their part of the mission. There was great acting with Dalton, de Caestecker and Henstridge as FitzSimmons was dropped in the ocean, in a submersible pod though, by Ward. This kind of made me doubt Ward killed his dog because while he left them there to die, he doesn't know for sure if they will, just that they are out of the way.

I got to say, Raina is still creeping me out with her over curiosity in powered people. I also cannot take Deathlok seriously.

+ Ward's backstory + Cybertek break in + FitzSimmons dropped in the ocean + Is there still good in Ward? - Raina and Deathlok

Final Score: 9.1/10

Amazing episode! The Flashbacks were great, the kid they cast as young Ward was spot on! kudos to the casting people! I love how the flashback added context to the Ward- Garret dynamic, and how it is playing out in modern day. I also love the stuff with Fitzsimmons and how Fitz continues to see the good in people (heartbreaking with hindsight), May and Coulson posing as Fitzsimmons is halrious...this episode sets up the finale quite well.

The First Deathlok (SPOILER ALERT)

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is where things get the hang of it. This episode blew me away because it revealed a lot of Ward's past and Garrett's past before his demise in Beginning of the End. The episode revealed a lot before season two. It helped explain why HYDRA is so manipulative. It was not as good as "The Things We Bury" or "T.A.H.I.T.I." or "Turn, Turn, Turn". This episode makes Ward like Terra from Kingdom Hearts and Garrett like Xehanort from the same franchise. Ward is also my favorite character from SHIELD. I think he is much better than Bucky Barnes. This episode also explains the difference between a Night-Night Gun and an I.C.E.R.
