A poetic masterpiece
JoseAntonioSoares8 April 2014
I have enjoyed very much the poetic atmosphere created by the photography, the music and the presence of Diane Marshall-Green and Keli Lang; we could feel the terrible loneliness of a great city, be it New York (as it is the case) or other great capital of the world. As a Portuguese I am very proud that two young directors can make a work like this, at their own expenses, without the support of the Portuguese state. Unfortunately this is very rare because almost every Portuguese movie is totally dependent of official support with awful consequences in the creativity and liberty of the work. I look forward for more works of these two directors be it short, medium or long versions.

A remarkable short movie

Being a lover of short movies I have appreciated very much this one, particularly the atmosphere that has been created. Although very different it has reminded me "Avé Maria ou mãe dos oprimidos" de Camilo Cavalcante, a Brazilian director from Recife, what is not so surprising, Portugal and Brasil has a lot in common in cultural terms, besides the language.Of course the presence of Keli Laing and Diane Marshall-Green has helped to achieve the feeling of sadness and loneliness that the movie wants to evoke.I look forward for new movies of these directors; I don't know if they are working in Portugal or abroad, since the footage of "In solitude" has been shot in New York.
