- With the Pink Panthers having gone silent, Peter and Neal focus on a case dealing with someone from Mozzie's past, who's returned to tie up loose ends and pull another con, this one at Mozzie's expense.
- Mozzie fans are in luck this week. The Pink Panthers take a back seat this episode to Mozzie and a blast from his past.
The episode begins with Mozzie revealing to Neal that he is married. Five years earlier while Neal was in prison Mozzie attempted to con a woman, Eva, he thought was wealthy. He was posing as rich and it turns out they were both running the same scam. There was some connection there and they continued on to a honeymoon where they ran another scheme that resulted in Eva stealing Mozzie's half of the booty and disappearing.
Eva tells Mozzie she's met someone and wants a divorce. She's engaged to a man named Conroy, the CEO of a charity that raises money for at-risk youth. Mozzie tells Neal he doesn't buy it; he's sure she's working a scheme.
To check on Eva, Mozzie poses as a wealthy potential donor and meets with Conroy. With Neal by his side Mozzie expresses concerns about Conroy's relationship with a woman he's learned through research has a checkered past. Conroy says all the right things, telling the story of a violent incident where he was shot in the leg turning the tide of his career from big buck to service. Conroy even walks with a convincing limp. He invites them to a huge fundraising art gala the following day.
After the meeting Neal seems to think Eva is on the up-and-up but Mozzie doesn't buy it. He leaves Neal to do some thinking and runs into Conroy. Conroy has abandoned the limp and makes it very clear he's working a con. He tells Mozzie to get lost and even decks him in the stomach.
Mozzie relays his altercation with Conroy to Neal, but his old buddy is skeptical.
Word comes to the team that the randomizer the Panthers posses has spit out San Francisco's airport. Something will be happening to a flight landing that day. Peter passes the info on to SanFran bureau, freeing him to help Mozzie by looking into Conroy and Eva.
Peter, Neal and Mozzie stake out Eva and Convoy, who go to lunch. Their conversation seems normal, but both Neal and Mozzie think con artists would keep up the charade in public. Mozzie attempts to stir the pot by walking over there and offering to sign the divorce. He brings up the altercation with Conroy, who denies. He even tries to grab the man's leg, but there does seem to be a scar near his calf. It seems to go terribly for Mozzie, but Peter says afterwards he thinks something fishy is afoot.
Peter doesn't buy Conroy's scar. He shows a picture to Jones and they agree the location shouldn't have caused a permanent limp and they think the shape of the scar is wrong for the robbery he claimed. Neal thinks this means the con isn't to steal from the charity bank account, but use the charity to get close to the art at the gala.
Eva reaches out to Mozzie, calling him in a panic saying she made a mistake teaming up with Conroy and wants to meet him at the Gala. At the same time Neal and Peter figure out that Eva and Conroy will be looking for a fall guy so they don't have to burn their aliases after the theft.
Neal and Peter intercept Mozzie at the event and tell him their theory. Eva will tell Mozzie she's tired of Conroy and wants to run away with him. She'll suggest he beat Conroy to the punch by stealing the item he was going to go after before he can get to it. But Conroy will have already taken it and planted a fake, allowing Mozzie to be arrested for the crime. Mozzie doesn't buy it, insisting that Eva would never go against the code and burn him like that.
In an attempt to prove the guys wrong Mozzie walks over to Eva wearing a wire. Unfortunately for Mozzie it seems Neal and Peter were exactly right. And when Conroy tries to grab a Faberge egg Neal and Peter are waiting for him.
Downstairs with the alarms blaring Mozzie and Eva congratulate one another on a game well played. She thinks he would have fallen for the plan five years earlier. But despite her trying to con him Mozzie discards the listening device and lets Eva escape.
It turns out the San Francisco operation turned up nothing Panthers-related. But Jones and Diana have figured out what the Panthers will be going after: They'll be using the randomizer to track a shipment of approximately $500 million in clean American cash heading from Europe to a federal reserve bank.
The episode ends with Neal returning to his apartment and finding Woodford sitting at the table with a gun. He tells Neal there's a problem: "We have a mole in the operation."
