So I am a fan of some of these shows that hunt legendary creatures, but Swamp Monsters was such a major disappointment. The way they chose to shoot the footage is lame af. Its little more than a bunch of shots of bearded dudes feeling like badasses with ridiculous arsenal walking around swamps. There's almost no footage of the Swamps. It just totally ruined the illusion. Doesn't help that everything feels real staged. There's an awkwardness to the way they speak that makes you aware they are delivering lines. WITH THE EXCEPTION being the interviews with the local witnesses. The local interviews are the best part of the whole show! Don't judge these mysterious creature shows based on this one.

I'm not one who watches reality shows, because they aren't reality. If someone breaks their leg on the island in Survivor, then realistically, they would have to deal with that instead of being flown by helicopter to a hospital. The poster for Swamp Monster caught my attention, and nobody else reviewed it yet, so I decided to watch and review it.

The guys seem likable, and they explain what monster they're looking for, like the grunch (pilot episode), but the background music needs to go. It's distracting, and it's not even a haunting theme, which would make the overall episode more serious. The locals with whom they spoke gave very much of a tongue-in-cheek type attitude about the "creature," which also robbed the episode of any sort of seriousness. The old woman especially when she said laughingly that she fed the grunch. IF it exists, and that's not probable, it's more like a wolf than some terrifying beast that needs to be dispatched ASAP.

The cast themselves say things trying to ad some realism to their view of the grunch existing, such as when they find a dog's skeleton close to a swamp, they say it was probably dragged out there against it's will. Upon what are they basing that? When dogs get lost in the forest, they wander around, and if they die, their remains lay where they died. Nothing they found pointed to the animal being dragged out there against its will or even killed. It was simply a dog's skeleton. The only investigation they did was to pick up the skull, look at it, and based on that, something must've killed it. That's not even close to conclusive proof of anything, except that the dog is dead. lol They find animal droppings with hair in it, and they claim a grunch is the only thing that could've come from, even though they have no idea what grunch droppings look like, since they are mythical creatures. The trap they made that could hold a person, somehow the grunch is able to grab the chicken from inside, but the animal escapes. Come on. Fake. The animation they used to show what they think the grunch looked like appeared as a rabid Doberman.

This is exactly why I can't stand "reality" shows. The only thing real about them are the airheads who appear in them. Perhaps this is how all these shows are. I don't know because I don't watch them. I don't recommend at all. If what I've explained in this review is your idea of entertainment, by all means, tune in. I did it once. I won't do it again. What they should do is take the money they have for this series and draft a fun monster movie. We horror fans would appreciate that.

This is not a show worth watching. It is much like all the other shows involving those animals no one has ever been able to catch or see. The fact they have named themselves an Agency is something I find hilarious. B.E.A.S.T or Bayou Enforcement Agency Special Team. The group is cliche' as they have the usual members, a tracker, a weapons specialist, the leader and whatever else a group of batsh** crazy people have when hunting an animal that doesn't exist.

This is such a stupid show. They never ever catch or even see what they're trying to hunt. Can't believer these guys are getting paid to do this. This show is a waste of time

I think you guys are disgusting for wanting to killl the swamp monster. Why try to catch it. Why can't you idiots do something right for a change. Take pictures or catch it. Jerks
