An upstart neophyte in the online video industry has shared a look at one of its most notable web series so far. Blackpills, a startup that has caught our attention by picking up a number of head-turning shows, has released a teaser for third season of Making A Scene, the program devised by actor James Franco.
In each episode of Making A Scene, Franco and a guest collaborator mash up two disparate pieces of pop culture to create a bizarre hybrid. The combination featured heavily in the teaser, for example, is “Anaconda Scissorhands,” a pairing of Nicki Minaj and Tim Burton.
Making A Scene began in 2014 as one of the most notable original series from AOL, and a second season followed a year after that. As AOL’s original programming priorities shifted, Blackpills rushed in to scoop up the third season of Making A Scene in a deal announced this past January.

In an upcoming episode of AOL’s “Making a Scene With James Franco,” the actor will reprise his “Freaks and Geeks” role 16 years later. The new episode, available Sept. 30, will mash up two classic high school TV series, “Freaks and Geeks” and “Saved by the Bell.” Franco will play both Mark-Paul Gosselaar‘s Zack Morris and his original “Freaks” character Daniel Desario as they face off in a musical showdown. “Making a Scene” sees the experimental star reenacting classic moments from film and TV. James Franco is back, and he’s Making A Scene once again. The actor has premiered the second season of his AOL web series, in which he and his troupe mash up famous movies and TV shows.
The first mashup of Making A Scene’s new season combines a pair of shows that, on the surface, have nothing in common: Breaking Bad and Sex and the City. Franco and his team pull these strange bedfellows together by sending Carrie Bradshaw on a date with Walter White. At the same time, she discusses the experience with her gal pals over a quartet of cosmos. Franco takes center stage by portraying both Bradshaw and White and acting out a sex scene between the two of them in White’s fan. Feeling a little egomaniacal there, eh James?
Making A Scene first premiered in 2014 as one of the 12 original series distributed that year by AOL.

Fine Brothers Entertainment recently celebrated the premiere of Six Degrees of Everything, its second TV series, but don’t expect the studio led by Benny and Rafi Fine (aka The Fine Bros) to slow down anytime soon. In Season 1 of "Making a Scene with James Franco," the actor took his own unique take on several movies, including "Napoleon Dynamite" and "Taxi Driver." For the second season of the AOL series, Franco takes on a whole new task: reimagining the best of TV. After asking viewers about their favorite shows, the "Making a Scene" team created a big wheel: For each episode, they spin the wheel and reinvent the show with its own Franco flavor. Season 2 features some of TV's biggest titles, including "Breaking Bad," "Sex in the City," "The Golden Girls" and "Game of Thrones." Most importantly, Franco will be reliving his "Freaks and Geeks" character Daniel Desario in the preppy, bright world of "Saved by the Bell." Season 2 of "Making a Scene with James Franco" will premiere on AOL on August 5 at 12am on the AOL Originals homepage. All-new episodes of "Making a Scene"...
