This episode worked well as a season finale however there were some inconsistencies in the quality of the writing. I was thrilled to have both the original Rebekah and original Esther back even if it was only for one episode. The scenes with Elijah, Rebekah and Klaus were as fabulous as always. I'm still not feeling as though Freya really fits. Time will tell.
As much as I like Vincent his scenes felt shoehorned into the episode. I love Vincent as mentor to Davina and I hope that the witches will resolve one of the shows most annoying constructs: that death does not really mean death in the world of The Originals or its mother show The Vampire Diaries.
I did not miss the wolves at all. The wolves storyline adds very little to the show. I feel they could all be written out somehow and the show would be tighter. Their storyline line is something I've always felt that the writers really don't know how to incorporate. It doesn't help that the wolf actors pale in comparison the rest of the cast.
