The general public isn't always the best at accepting the reality that child stars and teen idols eventually do grow up, struggling to see them as anything but their most memorable role during adolescence. But a trend has emerged in recent years, where the stars of massive teen franchises are getting the chance to grow. People have stopped making "Twilight" jokes about the Academy Award-nominated Kristen Stewart and "The Batman" star Robert Pattinson, while Zac Efron's turn in "The Iron Claw" had people campaigning on his behalf for an Oscar. Elsewhere, Jennifer Lawrence completed "The Hunger Games" and became the second-youngest person to ever win the Oscar for Best Actress, with all three main stars of the "Harry Potter" franchise having gone on to great success in other roles.
There's still plenty of room for growth (like folks who discredited Charles Melton in "May December" because his breakthrough role...

Millie Bobby Brown’s Best Performances(Photo Credit –Instagram)
Millie Bobby Brown is a household name thanks to her breakthrough role in the sci-fi horror series Stranger Things. The actress turned 20 on February 19, but she has already given some fantastic performances. Today, we look at some of the best performances in her career and rank them from worst to best.
Millie made her acting debut in Once Upon a Time in Wonderland as a guest star. She has appeared in popular series like Grey’s Anatomy and Modern Family, but they were like blink-and-miss roles. The actress is one of the rising stars in the entertainment industry who had a skincare line and a production company before she turned 20.
In 2023, Millie Bobby Brown got engaged to her boyfriend, Jake Bongiovi, and she shared the news with her fans via her Instagram account. She has two new films in the pipeline, Damsel and The Electric State.

"I will escape... for every innocent woman whose life was stolen." Netflix has launched the full trailer for the action thriller fantasy movie Damsel, from Spanish filmmaker Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. Ready for a streaming release in March. A young woman agrees to marry a handsome prince -- only to discover it was all a trap. She is thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon and must rely solely on her wits and will to survive. "She's a 'damsel' who doesn’t need to be saved. She saves herself in many ways. It subverts what you expect: You're expecting the prince to turn around and save her, and... no. Don't wait for the prince." Why, of course not! Millie Bobby Brown stars as Elodie in this story. The cast also includes Robin Wright, Angela Bassett, Nick Robinson, Brooke Carter, Ray Winstone, and Shohreh Aghdashloo. Seems like this should be a pretty good time!

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, prolific screenwriter Tracy Tormé has passed away at the age of 64. Tormé was a veteran of 1980s-era "Saturday Night Live" and wrote the TV movie "UFO Cover-Up?: Live!" in 1988, cementing his reputation among amateur ufologists everywhere. In the late '80s, Tormé was hand-picked by show creator Gene Roddenberry to contribute to the then-new "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Tormé became the show's executive story editor and creative consultant, a position he held for 24 of the show's early episodes. He is also the credited writer on 12 first-season episodes, including "Haven," "Skin of Evil," "The Arsenal of Freedom," and "The Big Goodbye."
That last episode, which aired on January 11, 1988, was notable in that it was the first holodeck-forward episode of the series. The holodeck was, of course, introduced in the show's pilot, "Encounter at Farpoint," which explained to audiences that the Enterprise-d was equipped with...

Tracy Tormé, the vision behind Sliders and an early writer on Star Trek: The Next Generation, has passed away at the age of 64 from complications from diabetes.
Tracy Tormé’s work and contributions within the sci-fi genre made him famous to fans. As per his sister (via The Hollywood Reporter), he “always interested in UFOs — the serious side of UFOs — and in the Air Force pilots who had seen them.” While he only wrote for two seasons on The Next Generation – also serving as story editor – his touch undoubtedly gave the series the thrust it needed to set the tone for the remainder of the series. The greatest success of his career, however, may be Sliders, which he co-created with Robert K. Weiss. Such a following it had developed, when Fox canceled it after three seasons, Sci Fi picked it up for its remaining two. In total, Sliders had 88 episodes...

Tracy Tormé, a UFO expert and son of stylish crooner Mel Tormé who co-created the 1990s series Sliders and was hand-picked by Gene Roddenberry to serve as the head writer on Star Trek: The Next Generation, has died. He was 64.
Tormé died Thursday of complications from diabetes in Escondido, California, his sister and brother, actress Daisy Tormé (Superman & Lois) and recording artist James Tormé, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Millie Bobby Brown’s latest star turn for Netflix is Damsel, a fantasy action adventure that arrives in just a few months.
Thanks to Netflix now choosing to release viewing hours for all of its film and TV programming, we now know that between January and June of this year, the YA take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s collection of detective tales, Enola Holmes 2, racked up over 30m hours worth of viewing. That places the film somewhere in Netflix’s top 600, but doesn’t account for the initial (and presumably huge) viewership spike when the film first launched (since it released in November of 2022).
Enola Holmes 2 was led by Millie Bobby Brown, who continues to be a major part of the streaming platform’s plans.
Not only have we heard talk of a third entry in the Elona Holmes series of films reportedly on the way, but...

El Estudio and Morbido are launching The Latin House of Horror, a hugely ambitious feature film slate channelling the voices of a powerful new generation of genre directors – and indeed writers – emerging in Spain and, most especially, Latin America.
The slate is designed to supercharge genre production in Latin America, in ambition, profile and exports, just as Filmax’s Fantastic Factory did a generation ago in Spain, El Estudio producer Enrique López Lavigne told Variety.
Mexico’s Sula Films, headed by Mexican producer Alejandro Sugich (“Los Hermanos Salvador”), will also produce the series. Vicente Canales’ Film Factory Entertainment is handling world sales.
Announced at Cannes, the House’s first slate of six movies features established talent such as Adrián García Bogliano, a founding figure of modern Argentine scarefare, now based out of Mexico; and Isaac Ezban, who rapidly established a reputation for films wrapped in hauntingly surreal scenarios: Think “The Incident” and “The Similars.

The Last Thing Mary Saw begins with an ominous quote from John Calvin, “All events whatsoever are governed by the secret counsel of God.” And God, or a twisted interpretation of His words, will have a large part to play in the events that unfold before us.
It’s December 3rd 1843 in Southold, New York. A young woman, Mary, is being interrogated about a series of deaths at her family home. A blindfold covers the two empty sockets where her eyes used to be so she doesn’t see the rifles aimed at her as she tells her story.
Mary is the daughter of a wealthy family. It’s also a repressively devout one and her life has little joy apart from her relationship with her maid Eleanor. A relationship that brings disapproval and harsh punishment from her family,...

Trans-Atlantic Spanish-language production powerhouse El Estudio and Mexico’s Morbido Group have joined forces in the largest genre, horror and fantasy production initiative in the Spanish-speaking world.
Feature films, series, remakes and reboots of classic IP and even unscripted programming are all part of the plan going forward for El Estudio and Morbido. Already, the companies have one series, three films and a talk show in development which they will announce in the coming months.
Production is hardly the endgame for the two companies, however, as they will look to change the genre industry on a fundamental level. Other initiatives include consolidating theatrical distribution circuits across South and Central America, supporting industry acceleration hubs, producing local events in major Latin American countries, talent management, a comic book/graphic novel division and expanding the Morbido brand into Spain and the U.S.

Despite how young she looks, anyone who has ever seen an interview with Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown would agree that she is wise beyond her years. Of course, given that she's an old soul with a baby face, few people know what the heck her age actually is. Born in Spain on February 19 of 2004, Millie recently turned 15 years old, which is pretty hard to believe, considering she's already received an Emmy nomination for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series, made Time 100's list of the 100 most influential people, signed to Img Models, and been appointed a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador. Not bad for someone who can't even drive yet!
As well as being way younger than you would think (especially given her serious style), most people are also surprised to learn that Millie never received any formal acting training. After making guest appearances on shows such as Once Upon a Time in Wonderland,...

You always have to worry when movies are advertised as “x meets y”, even if that – sometimes – is actually the best way to describe a film, In the case of Intensive Care, its “John Wick meets Don’t Breathe” an interesting combination if there ever was one. Find out the latest, including news of who is directing the fantasy film, below. Who is directing the movie? According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has tapped Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, best known for helming the zombie movie sequel 28 Weeks Later and the 2011 horror fantasy Intruders. Stranger Things has certainly been the making of the breakout star, Millie Bobbie Brown. The young actress not only has gained a massive fan base but has also been nominated for an Emmy award. Her ever-increasing fame has now landed her a role in a feature film series based on Nancy Springer’s Enola Holmes Mysteries novel series. Brown will also produce.
First published in 2006, Springer’s Enola Holmes Mysteries is a young adult fiction series of detective novels, starring Enola Holmes, the fourteen-year-old sister of an already-famous Sherlock Holmes, twenty years her senior.
The series borrows characters and settings from the established canon of Sherlock Holmes, but the Enola character is Springer’s creation and specific to this series. Poor box office performance of English-language slate, including Miss Sloane and The Circle, to blame.
Luc Besson’s mini-major EuropaCorp has posted a company record losses of $136m (€119.9m) for the 2016-17 financial year.
In a statement released in Paris on Wednesday morning (July 28), the company said consolidated revenue rose 3% to $171m (€151.7m) but net operating cash flows had fallen dramatically to $2.7m (€2.4m) for 2016-17, down from $92m (€81m) in the previous financial year.
The slight increase in consolidated revenue had been driven by foreign sales and an increase in Svod and TV sales to the Us, EuropaCorp said.
EuropaCorp had already officially announced in February that the company would post losses in 2016-17 that were “substantially higher” than losses in previous financial years. The company did not give further details but local media and entertainment analysts suggested a figure of around €35m ($39m).

Saturday Am Update: The Fate of the Furious is right on pace with expectations, bringing in an estimated $11.2 million on Friday, en route to a $35-38 million second weekend. Meanwhile, the film will remain the #1 film in the world this weekend as its international total as of last night is $636.3 million and the international weekend estimate is currently $171 million from 65 territories as it looks to top $910 million by Sunday and will cross $1 billion worldwide next week. Of the new releases, it looks like Disneynature's Born in China will lead the way after it brought in $1.59 million on Friday, on its way to an opening weekend three-day around $4.6 million or so. Opening day audiences gave the film an "A-" CinemaScore, which is pretty much typical for these features. Warner's Unforgettable is proving to be anything but as it brought in a meager $1.67 million on Friday and is looking at a $4.4 million opening weekend.

“Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover” is a proverb whose simple existence proves the fact impressionable souls will do so without fail. This monthly column (with a special year-end retrospective today) focuses on the film industry’s willingness to capitalize on this truth, releasing one-sheets to serve as not representations of what audiences are to expect, but as propaganda to fill seats. Oftentimes they fail miserably.
2016 wasn’t just a great year for films — the posters advertising them were quite fantastic too. That’s not to say we weren’t inundated at the multiplex with character sheets spanning Disney cartoon and photo-real superheroes to boring portraits on loud backgrounds, though. Following the hustle and bustle of the extended, Thanksgiving weekend it makes sense this weekend would be a bit quieter. Set to repeat atop the weekend box office is Disney's Moana followed once again by WB's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as the rest of the field settles in below. The weekend features one new wide release in Bh Tilt's Incarnate, offering horror fans a little something as the lone horror film currently in wide release, while Freestyle issues the moderate release of the faith-based feature Believe. At the top, Moana should drop somewhere around 54% from its $56.6 million three-day weekend for a second weekend around $26 million pushing its domestic cume a couple million shy of $120 million by the end of the weekend. For comparison, Frozen dipped 53% following its record-breaking three-day wide release and Tangled dipped 55.7% after its $48.7 million Thanksgiving weekend three-day debut. A lackluster October 2016 at the box office saw calendar grosses down ~8% compared to last year, contributing to a disappointing Fall movie season that finished down 9.3% compared to 2015. As a result, only one new release in the Fall 2016 timeframe (Sully) has managed to gross over $100 million domestically so far and it would appear it's going to remain that way. Overall, October saw a record 293 films (+32 compared to 2015) generate $657.4 million compared to the $715.3 million from 261 films last year, resulting in the second worst per film average over the last 35 years. For both, 2016's October timeframe and the Fall movie season, this was the second year in a row that saw a decline in grosses, which could be chalked up to the fact 2014 delivered a record Fall movie season, driven by a record October. That said, while October 2015 was down just 5.6% compared to 2014, October 2016 is down 13.27% compared to 2014.October 2016's largest grossing calendar...

The first trailer has arrived for Shut In, a thriller starring Naomi Watts as a reclusive child psychologist who must save a boy during a deadly winter storm. Of course, things are not quite what they seem, and the situation spirals out of control for everyone involved. Not to be confused with Adam Schindler’s Intruders, which was originally titled Shut In, this film is helmed by Hammer of the Gods director Farren Blackburn, off a script penned by Christina Hodson.
A promising aspect behind the camera is cinematographer Yves Bélanger, who has lensed films such as Dallas Buyers Club, Brooklyn, and Demolition. His eye combined with a thriller atmosphere should make for an interesting palette against the snowy backdrop of the New England-set film. See the trailer below (via USA Today), which also stars Jacob Tremblay, Oliver Platt, and Stranger Things’ Charlie Heaton.

Tagline: "They Should Have Left Her Alone." Director: Adam Schindler. Writers: T.J. Cimfel and David White. Cast: Rory Culkin, Leticia Jimenez, Jack Kesy, Timothy T. McKinney, Joshua Mikel and Beth Riesgraf. Intruders is a new entry into the home invasion genre. Though, the film relies heavily on dramatic elements, too. From first time feature film director Adam Schindler, Intruders focuses on Anna's (Beth Riesgraf) dark history and a group of burglars. This material requires a serious tone and this causes the film to wade more into dramatic territory, compared to horror ones. Symbolism also makes an appearance, with Anna portrayed as a caged bird. Intruders is a captivating film, which will draw many viewers into its tense narrative. Anna is dealing with a dying brother. Conrad (Timothy T. McKinney) has been Anna's protector. Without him, she appears lost, almost like a little girl. Her tragic past, which is revealed late in the film,...

Intruders takes the basic horror-thriller premise we all know about a girl trapped in her house with psychopaths and turns it on its head. What if the girl couldn’t escape from the house because she suffered from agoraphobia? And what if the intruders were about to get more than they bargained for?
Beth Riesgraf is Anna, the girl in question. Riesgraf turns in an amazing performance, which is equal parts vulnerable victim and fierce warrior. There are so many layers to the performance that the material might, in other hands, feel contrived or over the top. This isn’t the case with Miss Riesgraf, who operates at such a level that every wandering emotion – the fear, the shock and ultimately the defiance to her captors – is believable. It’s a hell of a performance.
