Our two principle characters provoke one another into relationships with men. Neither is very prepared to test the waters again. As a matter of fact, they are still stuck in a time when a whole different type of courtship took place. They try to find ways to approach a subject with an artificiality that is really uncomfortable. That said, the scenes continue to be precious and gut wrenching. Fonda is so attractive for someone who is actually seventy years old. That creates an interesting dynamic, including making men her age very tentative. Tomlin is still attached to her husband to the point where she can't lighten up. Another quality episode.
