Jonathan of the Night (1987)

** 1/2 (out of 4)

Jonathan (Don Striano), a well-dressed man, shows up at a complex where he is taken into a room by the owner. At first the owner thinks the man is just wanting to buy some drugs but he soon learns that Jonathan is a vampire. This short film from Buddy Giovinazzo is another one that was made in hopes that it would draw enough attention to make it into a feature film. That never happens so all that we're left with is this twelve-minute short, which has some interesting things in it if you're a fan of the director's work. The highlight would certainly be the sequence where the owner tries to rob Jonathan and finds out the truth about him the hard way. There's certainly nothing ground-breaking about this film but it will appeal to fans of Giovinazzo.
