Don't Take Too Much of the Drug

Subconscious Realities (1983)

** 1/2 (out of 4)

A man (Michael Tierno) is just hanging out when a buddy calls telling him about a new liquid drug. Before taking the drug the man is warned not to take too much but guess what he does? This here was the third film from director Buddy Giovinazzo and for the most part it's pretty entertaining, although I'd argue that the running time was a tad bit too long. With that said, if you're a fan of the director's work then you'll certainly want to check this out since it does feature that always bizarre atmosphere that Giovinazzo is so great with. What really works in this film is that the man starts seeing various images and there's a part where we get clips from various real-life acts of violence and this is certainly the highlight of the picture as it really does show the evils that are around you. Tierno is good in the lead role and there's some nice music scattered in as well.
