The Jehovah's Witnesses have come under government scrutiny in several countries over their appalling mishandling and covering up of child sexual abuse. Perhaps best known is the Australian Royal Commission which condemned the 'two-witness rule' that means an abuser can only be disciplined if there have been two witnesses to the sin (i.e. crime). The ARC also took a dim view of 1006 historic cases of abuse that were dealt with internally and not reported onto the authorities. When the organisation was asked to join a redress scheme to compensate abuse survivors for therapy etc, it refused. It was only when the Australian Government threatened to remove its charitable status/tax exemption that it grudgingly acquiesced.
Jehovah's Witnesses have falsely proclaimed the end of the world is nigh on many occasions, including most notably 1914, 1919, 1925 and 1975. They then adopted a more cautious approach, claiming that millions of the generation who were old enough to understand the events of 1914 (i.e. WW1) would be alive to see Armageddon. When this was clearly proving to be a lie as well, they amended the meaning of 'generation' c2014 to mean two people at opposite ends of the age scale who were alive at the same time - in other words, people who knew a grandparent who saw WW1 were now of the same generation.
Jehovah's witnesses follow a literal interpretation of the Bible and strictly adhere to it's scriptural principles. Acts 25:28,29
