The people of Gaza are at the top of Belly’s mind. On Thursday, the Canadian-Palestinian rapper released the nine-track album 96 Miles From Bethlehem as an ode to Palestine amid the Israel-Hamas war, featuring appearances from Elyanna, Saint Levant, and Mc Abdul.
“I got a lot more to say,” Belly wrote on Instagram before releasing the project, whose proceeds will support those affected by the Israeli attacks on Gaza and the West Bank.

Keanu Reeves is widely recognized for his roles in action franchises such as John Wick and The Matrix, and as far as everyone knows, he’s great at playing the hero. Apparently, the actor’s best performance was not from any of the movies where he portrayed the good guy.

Reeves as a villain seems like a novel idea for many, and the actor hasn’t done a lot of antagonist roles in his career. In one of the underrated projects he did with Spider-Man director Sam Raimi, he portrayed the abusive husband.

Stephen King has been terrifying his audience since his first full-length novel, Carrie, released in 1974. The world has come to know him as the ‘King of Horror’ and rightfully so. Whether it is the story of a sinister presence in an empty hotel or the trauma caused by Pennywise, the author sure knows how to keep his readers up at night. His books have been adapted into films which are equally, if not more, petrifying.
It (2017) based on Stephen King’s namesake novel | New Line Cinema
However, the question is, is there anything that terrifies the man who has made scaring others into a living? Well, there might be one such film out there. Released in 1999, The Blair Witch Project is a unique take on the horror genre that uses the found-footage technique to scare its audience, including Stephen King who had to turn his screen off without watching it to the end.

When we talk about perfect casting choices -- even outside the realm of superhero movies -- J.K. Simmons as The Daily Bugle head honcho J. Jonah Jameson in "Spider-Man" has to be right up there with the best of the best. Simmons so perfectly encapsulated the role that he has, essentially, been kept on as just about every version of the character throughout the Marvel multiverse, as evidenced by "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse." But before Simmons signed on for the role, he was seen as perfect for another, very different role in Spidey's rogues gallery.

The Guardians of the Galaxy could’ve looked a little different.
In an upcoming episode of The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast, Joel Edgerton revealed that he auditioned for the role of Star-Lord, which eventually went to Chris Pratt, in James Gunn’s Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise.
“I, unlike Chris, didn’t quite sort of understand the tone of it the way he did and the way that those guys did,” Edgerton said on the show. “And I wasn’t really sure how I could be a part of that tone. And I truly think that the world is a much better place that I’m not Star-Lord, even if I had the opportunity or I did a good enough audition because it is the way it’s meant to be.”

It is the spring of “Baby Reindeer.” Netflix’s addictive limited series about a struggling comedian (Richard Gadd) working at a bar who makes the biggest mistake of his life when he gives a lonely woman (Jessica Gunning) a cup of tea on the house is the most watched series currently on the streamer and viewership is growing. And the fact that it’s based on a true story, makes “Baby Reindeer” even more creep and chilling. It’s a must-see voyeur thriller.
The same was true in the fall of 1987 with Adrian Lyne’s “Fatal Attraction.” Audiences flocked to the hard R-rated thriller which starred a wild-haired Glenn Close as an editor with a publishing company who has one-night stand with a happily married attorney (Michael Douglas) whose wife and daughter are out of town. Though it’s “understood” that it’s just a fling, Close’s Alex just won’t let go.

Jason Blum now has his hands on The Blair Witch Project, and a big screen reboot is on the way: more here.
By this stage, we can tick the popular horror franchises off as they take their place in the reboot queue. At the time of writing, The First Omen is in cinemas. We’ve had Scream reboots, a new Salem’s Lot is (finally) on the way, and decisions are being made as to the next direction for The Exorcist. Now? Let’s add The Blair Witch Project to the pile, a series that thus far covers three films, the last of which came from Adam Wingard back in 2016.
Lionsgate and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse company have just been working together on the release of Jeff Wadlow’s Imaginary, and now they’ve inked a fresh deal to oversee a new Blair Witch film. Likely lots of new Blair Witch films.

While the studios' CinemaCon presentations are usually about the coming year's slate, there are always usually announcements of future projects. Lionsgate took the chance at its 2024 edition to announce that it is partnering with Blumhouse to develop a new take on classic 1999 found footage horror The Blair Witch Project.
Yes, the story of three film students who venture into a Maryland forest to film a documentary on the titular local scare legend… And are never heard from again, the footage being tracked down and assembled after the fact.
Directed by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez, it famously had some thinking that the ill-fated trio really did perish and that the film is all that remains of their quest. The movie spawned a sequel, the benighted Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 and Adam Wingard's own fresh take, 2016's Blair Witch.

Horror maestro Jason Blum is reviving “The Blair Witch Project” for Lionsgate.
It’s a fitting pair because Blumhouse is known for its low-budget approach to terror. And the original “Blair Witch Project” had such a minuscule price tag it became one of the most profitable movies ever. Blumhouse is behind the skin-crawling “Paranormal Activity” and “The Purge” franchises, as well as newer breakout hits like “M3GAN” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s.” Blumhouse movies have generated nearly $6 billion at the worldwide box office — and that’s without spending all that much on production costs.
The announcement was made at CinemaCon, the annual movie theater trade show that’s currently taking place in Las Vegas. This film marks the first in a multi-picture agreement with Blumhouse reimagining horror classics for Lionsgate. Blumhouse, which has a first-look deal with Universal Pictures, recently collaborated with Lionsgate on “Imaginary,” a thriller about a sinister teddy bear from childhood.

Lionsgate and Blumhouse are headed back to the woods for a new Blair Witch Project movie.
It’s part of a multifilm deal between the studios that will see Blumhouse reimagine horror classics from Lionsgate. The deal follows the duo collaborating on Imaginary, which has earned $38.2 million since release last month.
1999’s Blair Witch Project is considered one of the most profitable films of all time. Made for $35,000, it would go on to gross $249 million globally (postproduction costs put its budget closer to $200,00 to $500,000). It ushered in a found-footage movie boom and spawned a 2001 sequel and a 2016 follow-up. Roy Lee, who produced the 2016 film, is back for the new installment.

Taking place alongside Filmart, the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (Haf) is one of Asia’s oldest and most established project markets, helping a string of award-winning films to get made.
Recent Haf successes include Mongolian drama If Only I Could Hibernate, which was selected for last year’s Cannes Un Certain Regard, and Huang Ji and Ryuji Otsuka’s Stonewalling, which won best film at Taiwan’s Golden Horse Awards and was sold to KimStim for North America.
However, Haf is now just one component in an expanding range of activities organised by Hkiff Industry, the industry platform of Hong Kong International Film Festival (Hkiff). This year, the festival has partnered with CAA China to launch the Hkiff Industry-caa China Genre Initiative (Hcg), which is presenting six selected projects to an industry-wide audience during Haf.

A big-budget series adaptation of a best-selling sci-fi epic, a new season of an acquired Peacock gem, a spinoff series of a Guy Ritchie crime feature, the return of one of the world’s most grueling reality competition shows, Millie Bobby Brown finding herself in all sorts of bother and Adam Sandler getting serious in a space drama are among the standout films and series hitting Netflix in March.
Funnyman Sandler is deathly serious in Johan Renck’s Spaceman, Netflix’s big feature release this month that debuts on March 1. The film, an adaptation of Jaroslav Kalfar’s novel Spaceman of Bohemia, sees Sandler play a Czech astronaut sent to the farthest reaches of space, just as his personal life is falling to pieces. "The Twilight Zone" enthusiasts might vaguely remember an episode titled "The Gift," a sci-fi tale about "a rootless little boy" named Pedro (Edmund Vargas), who stumbles upon an alien from a distant planet. "The Gift" is not one of the anthology series' better episodes, as it hamfists a twist ending while indulging in some problematic character stereotypes. However, there's a sense of beauty in a story about a lonely child who finds solace in the company of an extraterrestrial and is willing to treasure the gift given to him without learning its true purpose. The locale where the events unfold, a remote mountain village in Mexico, accentuates the loneliness that Pedro embraces and adds further meaning to the unlikely bond forged with the alien who crash lands in this space.

Turkish producer Onur Güvenatam founded Ogm Pictures in 2019, and has since shepherded a steady stream of hit series and movies such as drama “The Red Room,” the widely-sold “Golden Boy” and “One Way for Tomorrow,” the first Netflix original film out of Turkey.
For Netflix, Ogm has also made Turkish original film “Paper Lives” and the series “The Gift.” Güvenatam is at Mipcom with new shows “Stickman” (Çöp Adam), “Miracle of Love” (Yüz Yıllık Mucize), and “Broken Destiny,” (Toprak ile Fidan) being sold by his recently launched in-house sales company Ogm Universe.
He spoke to Variety about the secret to Ogm’s success, and vented frustrations about the business model imposed by U.S. streamers.
“Golden Boy” was the most-watched television drama last year in Turkey and has been sold to over 100 countries. Why does it connect so well with audiences?
It’s about two young sisters affected by marriage.

Hillary Swank rallies her entire town to help out a neighbor in the latest trailer for Lionsgate’s true-life faith-based drama “Ordinary Angels.”
The two-time Oscar winner plays a hairdresser who inserts herself into the life of a grieving widower with a critically ill daughter. The kid needs a new liver, and the dad just needs a little help. As revealed in the trailer, circumstances change when a new organ becomes available for transplant, but it requires a cross-country flight and happens to occur during a once-in-a-generation cold front.
Swank won two Best Actress Oscars, one in 2000 for “Boys Don’t Cry” and one in 2005 for “Million Dollar Baby.” Although she never really became a bankable draw, she has made a career out of mostly top-billed leading roles in films like “Amelia,” “The Core” and “The Gift.” Moreover, she almost never found herself just playing the love interest or the lone woman in a macho melodrama,...

With its list of new releases for June 2023, Prime is bringing a handful of Amazon Originals and many recent movie hits to the fold.
It’s actually quite a busy month for non-American programming in Amazon Originals department. Shows and movies like Deadloch, My Fault, and Medellín all originate from outside the U.S. and U.K. For the American and British crowd, however, the streamer is debuting two big tentpoles.
The first is I’m a Virgo on June 23. Acclaimed director Boots Riley’s TV followup to Sorry to Bother You will tale the surreal and satirical tale of a giant in Oakland. That will be followed by the more conventional (assumedly) fourth season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on June 30.

The press release and IMDb page for The Artifice Girl describe it like this “ A team of special agents discovers a revolutionary new computer program to bait and trap online predators. After teaming up with the program’s troubled developer, they soon find that the AI is rapidly advancing beyond its original purpose.” It’s also tagged “Mystery” “Sci-Fi” and “Thriller”. Sounds like a potentially exciting crime film with some topical AI elements, right? Not exactly.
Deena is asking Siri the difference between right and wrong. Unsurprisingly her virtual assistant doesn’t have an answer. Her partner Amos arrives with Gareth, played by The Artifice Girl’s writer/director Franklin Ritch. It seems the two agents want to ask him some questions about some pictures found on his computer.
That’s when he drops a bombshell on them.

Movie star Keanu Reeves is now both beloved and respected, but that wasn’t always the case. Early in his career, Reeves got typecast by Bill and Ted and struggled to get taken seriously in dramas. Action movies like Speed and The Matrix helped, but it’s only recently that Reeves has gotten the respect in the industry he deserves. Even Reeves can be a little self-critical about some of his early roles.

Reeves was a guest on the Smartless podcast on March 27 after John Wick: Chapter 4 dominated the box office. Reflecting on one of his ‘90s roles, Reeves acknowledged some of his criticism was deserved.

Fox News is facing another lawsuit, this time from one of its own producers. But during Wednesday’s episode of “The View,” host Joy Behar scoffed at the producer’s claims of sexism at the network, saying she shouldn’t have been surprised.
In her suit, Abby Grossberg — a senior producer who was responsible for booking arrangements for Tucker Carlson’s show — claimed Fox forced her to provide a misleading testimony in their defamation legal battle with Dominion Voting Systems, and that she witnessed several instances of sexist and antisemitic behavior from her Fox News co-workers.
“Wait a second. She works at Fox. She’s shocked by sexism?” Behar said. “How many people have lost their jobs over there? Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly, to name but two, for sexual harassment. I mean, that’s a little naive.”

Keanu Reeves. John Wick. The Baba Yaga of our hearts. Everyone knows him and by god, everyone loves him. He’s been everything from a surfer cop in Point Break to a tumbleweed in The SpongeBob Movie. He’s also left his mark on horror. Let’s take a look at the many roles he’s played in the genre, shall we? Excellent! *Air guitar solo* Reading this entire article in Keanu’s voice in your head will increase the entertainment value exponentially. I promise.
Though it may not be a horror film per se, the correct place to start is 1991 with Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey. If being murdered by your future selves trying to steal your babes, going to literal hell and being forced to play the Grim Reaper in a series of childhood games isn’t horrific, what is? Okay fine, Keanu’s technical first foray...
