- [Rosita starts to pressure Eugene on learning to protect himself]
- Dr. Eugene Porter: I'm a weapons novice, and there are people in my immediate proximity with open-toed shoes.
- Rosita Espinosa: That's right. So get a grip. What are you so scared of?
- Dr. Eugene Porter: That would be dying.
- Rosita Espinosa: Dying is simple. It all just stops. You're dead. The people around you dying, that's the hard part. Okay? 'Cause you keep living knowing that they're gone and you're still here. What you should be scared of is living knowing that you didn't do everything you could to keep them here. Too upset to keep going? Are the noises scaring you or can I get back to my lesson?
- [Glenn tells Enid who she is in this world]
- Glenn Rhee: You honor the dead by going on. Even when you're scared. You live because they don't get to.
- [Carol talks to Sam from downstairs as he sits above the top step]
- Sam Anderson: The people who came, were they the monsters? Did my dad turn into one?
- Carol Peletier: What?
- Sam Anderson: If you kill people, do you turn into one of the monsters?
- Carol Peletier: The only thing that keeps you from becoming a monster is killing.
- [Rick talks to Maggie on the fence wall while Maggie waits for Glenn's signal]
- Rick Grimes: When we go out there, it's never easy, it's never simple. It's always a fight. But we've come back from harder things. From further away. Glenn, Daryl, Abraham, and Sasha, they will, too. Maybe we don't wait for them to be back. We should start figuring out how to draw the walkers away. We have some food and water to last us a while and the walls are holding. We can take our time. Really think this through. Do it right. Clear it so they can - They can walk right in.
- Maggie Greene: I saw Judith in the house the other day. She's starting to - She's starting to look like Lori.
- Rick Grimes: [Rick nods his head] Yeah.
- Maggie Greene: It made me happy.
- Rick Grimes: [Rick smiles] Me, too.
- [Rick sits across from Morgan after questioning him about letting the Wolves go]
- Morgan Jones: Do you think I don't belong here?
- Rick Grimes: Making it now, do you really think you can do that without getting blood on your hands?
- Morgan Jones: I don't know.
- [Rick and Michonne talk to Morgan about life in this world]
- Morgan Jones: [Morgan looks to Rick] Why didn't you kill me, Rick, back in King County? Pulled a knife on you. I stabbed you. So why didn't you kill me? Was it 'cause I saved you after the hospital?
- Rick Grimes: 'Cause I knew who you were.
- Morgan Jones: Back there I would have killed you as soon as look at you. And I tried. But you, you let me live and then I was there to help Aaron and Daryl. See, if I... if I wasn't there, if they died... maybe those Wolves wouldn't have been able to come back here. I don't know what's right anymore. 'Cause I did want to kill those men. I seen what they did, what they would keep doing. I knew I could end it. But I also know that people can change. 'Cause everyone sitting here has. All life is precious. And that idea - that idea changed me. It brought me back and keeps me living.
- Michonne: I just don't think it can be that easy.
- Michonne: It's not easy.
- Michonne: I wasn't saying...
- Morgan Jones: I - I know. And I've thought about letting that idea go. But I don't want to.
- Michonne: You may have to. Things aren't as simple as four words. I don't think they ever were.
- [Enid aims a pistol at Glenn]
- Glenn Rhee: You're not gonna pull the trigger.
- Enid: I will if you make me.
- Glenn Rhee: [Glenn grabs and holds the gun away] Let go.
- Enid: [Enid let's go of the gun] Asshole.
- Glenn Rhee: You point a gun at me and I'm the asshole?
- [Glenn talks to Enid while blowing up balloons for a signal]
- Glenn Rhee: Who did you stay with at home?
- Enid: It's not my home. I lived in Olivia's place. But I was on my own. Orphaned by walkers.
- Glenn Rhee: Me, too. Probably.
- Enid: It's just what happens.
- Glenn Rhee: I get that you're scared.
- Enid: I'm not scared.
- Glenn Rhee: Yeah, you are. You don't want to lose anything again, so you give up and you say, 'That's just what happens.'
- [first lines]
- Nicholas: [in a flashback, over the snarling walkers] Thank you.
- [Glenn crawls out from under Nicholas' dead body, crawling under the dumpster, killing and enclosing himself with the dead walker bodies]
- Nicholas: [after one whole night and day, Glenn crawls out from under the dumpster looking for Nicholas' water bottle, as Glenn suddenly hears a voice]
- Enid: Hey, head's up!
- Enid: [Glenn misses the thrown water bottle from the roof] Shit. I said head's up.
- Glenn Rhee: Enid?
- [Morgan talks to Dr. Cloyd in the doctor's office about faith]
- Dr. Denise Cloyd: [Morgan see's a bunch of notes written by Denise] Cheat sheets. Yeah. Probably doesn't give you a lot of faith.
- Morgan Jones: I have faith.
- Dr. Denise Cloyd: Well, you have to, right?
- Morgan Jones: You don't have to, I choose to. You should, too.
- [last lines]
- [people in the community see the bundle of green balloons float up in the air, as Maggie on the wall see's the same balloons float up]
- Maggie Greene: [Rick then see's the balloons in the air, as Maggie runs down to tell Rick on the street] That's Glenn. That's Glenn.
- [when everyone in the community looks over to see the tower begin to buckle, falling towards the wall in silence]
- [Tobin talks to Rick while working on the wall]
- Tobin: You know, you scared the hell out of people when we first saw you.
- Rick Grimes: I know.
- Tobin: You scared the hell out of me. With that beard. The way you looked around like you were seeing things we weren't... hiding around corners. Turns out you were. Things moved slow here. And then things just started moving fast. Too fast. But don't give up on us.
- [Enid informs Glenn about Alexandria being attacked]
- Glenn Rhee: What happened in Alexandria? We heard the sound. The gunfire. Enid
- Enid: What happened is what always happens. People died.
- [Rosita teaches the community people how to swing a machete]
- Rosita Espinosa: Now, when the blade connects, don't jerk it right back. You'll get stuck.
- Kent: Stuck?
- Rosita Espinosa: Like an ax cutting into a tree. It's easier getting a blade into the bone than out.
- Kent: So, what should we do?
- Rosita Espinosa: You should slide the machete down through the wound. One fluid motion. Okay, you ease it through the bone like this. All right?
- [Glenn tries to give Enid courage after seeing Alexandria surrounded by the herd of walkers]
- Enid: [Enid in tears] The world is trying to die. We're supposed to just let it.
- Glenn Rhee: No. You're wrong. We're not supposed to let the world die. And I sure as hell am not gonna let you die.
- Enid: I'm sure your wife will forgive you.
- Glenn Rhee: It's not for her anymore. Look, the walls are still up. The houses are still up. We'll find out the rest. Okay?
- [Rick teaches Ron how to fire a pistol as Carl watches from the side]
- Rick Grimes: Someone's in front of you, they have a gun.
- Carl Grimes: You'll gonna be scared. You will be.
- [Ron looks at Carl without saying anything]
- Rick Grimes: Your body's gonna tense, you won't have time to think. You're just gonna want to pull the trigger when you get it in front of you.
- Rick Grimes: [Rick pulls back the hammer of the gun] But you'll miss, and you'll be dead.
- Rick Grimes: [Rick pulls back the hammer again holding the gun up] You have to get it up to your eye.
- Carl Grimes: You've got to be strong enough to wait for your moment.
- Ron Anderson: [Ron looks at Carl before asking for the pistol from Rick] Can I, uh...
- Rick Grimes: [Rick hands over the pistol as Ron clears his throat, aiming] Hey, your finger doesn't touch the trigger until you're ready to shoot.
- Rick Grimes: [Ron calmly pulls the trigger as the gun clicks] Keep that one with you. Get a feel of what it's like to carry one around.
- Ron Anderson: Can I shoot it? Maybe like down at the walkers.
