Here’s the first look at Apple’s top-secret shows, which will be ready for the Golden Globes [Watch]
Apple unveiled its highly anticipated, super secretive new streaming service in a simulcast presentation on Monday (you can watch or rewatch the whole thing here). The service is called… Apple TV+. Yup, everyone gets a + these days. And while Apple was still super secretive about a number of Apple TV+’s aspects — like how much will the damn thing cost — it did reveal that the service is scheduled to launch in the fall (no date yet). That means no Emmys this year, and the Golden Globes will be its first shot at awards glory.
The Apple TV+ portion of its announcement — which included a new gaming service and a credit card — was basically an upfronts presentation without any individual clips or trailers for its highlighted shows. (We legit saw more of the credit card than the shows.) After a lengthy package of its A-list talent discussing storytelling, several stars behind...

ABC has put in development East WillyB, a half-hour comedy based on the indie web series created by Julia Ahumada Grob and Yamin Segal from Korin Williams and Monique Nash’s Kronicle Media and ABC Studios.
Written by Grob and Segal, East WillyB is an ensemble comedy that revolves around a truly unconventional family, dysfunctional neighbors who populate the last hold-out dive bar in gentrified Brooklyn. Together they’ll face life’s challenges — from love, friendship, and legacy, to family and change — realizing they can only do it if they lean on each other; their chosen family.
Described as an American story told through the voices and experiences of Latinos, the critically praised East WillyB web series, which takes on issues facing the Latino population, was named the “Latino show for the next generation” by the New York Times.
Segal and Grob will executive produce the potential series alongside Kronicle Media’s Williams and Nash.

Bob Kushell — co-showrunner of CBS’ Nina Dobrev-led midseason comedy Fam — has been fired for misconduct, TVLine has learned exclusively. A CBS rep declined to comment, but an insider tells TVLine that Kushell was let go for using “inappropriate language in the workplace.” Fam creator/co-showrunner Corinne Kingsbury will now serve as the sitcom’s sole showrunner.
The multi-cam Fam finds ex-Vampire Diaries star Dobrev playing a woman who is trying to get in good with her fiancé’s upstanding family — a plan that’s ruined when her hot mess of a half-sister comes to live with her to escape their disaster of a father.

Within six minutes, “Insatiable” tosses out a joke so offensive even a great series might not come back from it. When Bob Armstrong, who’s somehow the second best attorney / beauty pageant coach in a small Georgian town, reveals he’s been accused of sexually assaulting an underage girl, he quips, “I was an accused molester saying the victim had made it up — which was almost as bad as if I’d actually done it.”
Whether this is the pitch-black satire “Insatiable’s” lonely defenders claim pervades the whole series or just a really tone-deaf means to score pity points for a down-on-his-luck wealthy white guy, nothing that comes after this eye-opening faux pas contradicts the idea Bob put out in the world: that being falsely accused of sexually assaulting a minor is as bad as doing it. From this point forward, Lauren Gussis’ Netflix original series only invokes more causes for concern,...

CBS Studios International has secured the global rights to ABC drama A Million Little Things – marking the first Kapital Entertainment-produced series for a third-party network that the distribution division will sell since its deal with producer Aaron Kaplan.
Kaplan partnered with CBS Corporation last year in a joint venture that saw the latter acquire an ownership stake in Kapital Entertainment, whereby it would provide co-financing for Kapital projects and will serve as worldwide distributor.
Up until now, these have been CBS and CBS Studios-related projects, but A Million Little Things, the hourlong gamble from DJ Nash, the comedy writer behind NBC’s Growing Up Fisher and Truth Be Told, marks a step change.
ABC handed the show, which features an all-star ensemble cast, including David Giuntoli, Ron Livingston, Romany Malco, Allison Miller, a series order last week and CBS Studios International will now shop it to international buyers, who...

DJ Nash’s hourlong gamble paid off. A Million Little Things, the first drama project ever from the comedy writer who created NBC’s Growing Up Fisher and Truth Be Told, was a big front-runner among ABC’s 2018 crop of pilots and now was handed one of the network’s first series orders for next season. The project, from ABC Studios and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, joins light cop drama The Rookie starring Nathan Fillion as well as The Goldbergs spinoff.
A Million Little Things features an all-star ensemble cast, many of whom had led their own series: David Giuntoli, Ron Livingston, Romany Malco, Allison Miller, Christina Moses, Christina Ochoa, James Roday, Stephanie Szostak and Lizzy Greene. Livingston’s casting had not been confirmed until now, but he was in the pilot, playing a pivotal role, and will appear in multiple episodes of the series.

It won’t be too much longer before film fans clock eyes on Channing Tatum’s Remy LeBeau.
Truth be told, the former Magic Mike star has been attached to the card-wielding mutant for years – and we do mean years – but it looks as though that unwavering loyalty is about to pay off dividends, as Gambit is within arm’s reach of entering production in earnest.
As reported by Omega Underground, the spinoff, one which is coming by way of Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean), will begin filming in March, when New Orleans will play host to the long-gestating X-Men project for a total of 10 weeks. Perhaps most interesting of all is the alleged budget, as Nola mentions $155 million. Chalk this up as an early estimate, though, as Nola appears to be citing an old listing dated for 2015.

Throughout the course of its thirteen seasons, Supernatural has introduced no shortage of memorable characters to orbit Sam and Dean Winchester. And while not all of them may enjoy the perks that come with being granted a spinoff show to call their own, there are those whom we simply can’t imagine the series without.
Of course, names such as Castiel and Lucifer immediately come to mind – who were introduced in seasons 4 and 5, respectively – but a somewhat recent addition whom many of us couldn’t help but fall in love with was that of Rowena, the scarlet-haired witch played by Ruth Connell. And since her debut in season 10, Ruth has shown us that even if you’re playing a villain (though she’s been a bit ambiguous at times), you’ll accrue a generous fan base if you do your job well enough.

Let it be known that the newly-unveiled Disney-Fox merger is a double-edged sword.
On the one hand, Marvel regaining control of X-Men, Deadpool, and the Fantastic Four is enough to leave tongues wagging and wallets begging – make no mistake, Marvel Studios was the big winner coming out of yesterday’s historic announcement – but there is now a growing uncertainty over Fox’s broader X-Men strategy.
As things stand, 2018 will herald three movies from the X-family: The New Mutants, an untitled Deadpool sequel, and the hotly-anticipated Dark Phoenix. But look further down the pipeline and you’ll begin to uncover a series of big-name projects still gestating in the formative stages of development – Gambit, X-Force, X-23 and the James Franco-led Multiple Man.
It’s a tantalizing, wonderfully diverse lineup of superhero content, but The Hollywood Reporter brings word that some of those projects may be at risk following Disney’s acquisition.

For the past few weeks, the talk of the town has been that of Disney acquiring Fox in a landmark deal and, this morning, it finally happened. And while pundits and moviegoers alike are busy speculating what this may mean for the future of both film and television in general, we can’t help but wonder what it’ll mean for Marvel movies that have a bit more of an edge to them.
Of course, the first property that springs to mind is that of Deadpool, as many of us are pretty sure that the Merc with a (foul) Mouth’s blockbuster probably would’ve never happened if he weren’t at Fox to begin with, nor would have the visceral experience that was Logan. But, thankfully, Disney CEO Bob Iger seemed to alleviate fears by implying that Wade Wilson won’t be neutered from a creative perspective, and that...

One thing I’ve long admired about The CW is that it’s had a knack for assembling great ensemble casts, no matter what series it may be for. And most fortunate for us superhero fans, the trend continued with Arrow and its subsequent sister shows, especially when it came to sidekicks and other masked crimefighters who are there to orbit the titular heroes.
A prime example of this would be that of Roy Harper, played by fan favorite actor Colton Haynes. Originally introduced in the back half of Arrow season 1, we saw this young man organically develop and eventually blossom into the hero known as Arsenal in season 3, with one badass costume to boot. Really, I’m wondering if his threads were part of the reason Oliver upgraded his suit in season 4. You can’t have your sidekicks looking cooler than you, now can you?

Fair warning: Lincoln’s response strays far into spoiler territory, even if the actor uses a pseudonym when referring to that character.

If you ask me, Hell is the ultimate horror setting. Sure, creepy castles and abandoned outposts are great and all, but a realm of eternal torment just strikes me as a tad more terrifying. And of the major cultural interpretations of Hell out there, none are quite as grisly as the hell of Japanese Buddhism: Jigoku. Sure, there’s a way out of it, but the torments inflicted upon the damned in Jigoku make the ones Dante wrote about seem fit for children’s birthday parties. Jigoku consists of sixteen separate hells (eight “hot” and eight “cold”), with eight great hells that consist of tortures ranging from being charred in massive frying pans to being eternally smashed into paste and revived by massive rocks. It’s a brutal, depressing place where hope is faint and mercy can wait billions of years away. Naturally, it makes for a great topic for a horror movie.

As a matter of fact, during the early days of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, writer-director Rian Johnson toyed with the idea of a blind Luke Skywalker.

Whether you liked Suicide Squad or not, the fact of the matter is that it raked in a lot of dough at the box office and was a merchandising monster – and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn played a huge part in that. Really, her tremendous embodiment of the character just happened to coincide with the Clown Princess of Crime’s popularity being on an upswing, thus we saw her become the most cosplayed character of 2016.
Naturally, Warner Bros. are likely keen on having Robbie reprise her role as soon as possible. And most fortunate for those of us who enjoyed her portrayal, Variety reports that’ll happen as soon as next year. Furthermore, the actress went on to say that she’s having such a blast because Harley is so different from her:

‘Tis the season for blockbuster trailers, it seems.
With the first-look teaser for Avengers: Infinity War seemingly imminent – word is it’ll drop early next month, before being attached to Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 15th – Universal has drawn up plans to unveil Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom‘s trailer this Thursday, November 30th, during the Cowboys vs. Redskins NFL game on NBC. Not that we can say we haven’t seen it coming.
For instance, just last week Colin Trevorrow Tweeted out a cute little Thanksgiving message in which Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) got up close and personal with a baby velociraptor. Whether this was pulled from a flashback sequence is up for question, though it would certainly make sense considering that Isla Nublar was almost reduced to rubble at the tail-end of Jurassic World in 2015.

Netflix’s House of Cards has been left in a state of disarray amid the damning allegations leveled against Kevin Spacey.
The Frank Underwood actor was thrust into the eye of a ferocious media storm late last month when Star Trek Discovery‘s Anthony Rapp accused Spacey, then 26, of making a sexual advance toward him when he was only 14. Soon after that, the floodgates opened, leaving Netflix with little choice but to formally dismiss Kevin Spacey from the House of Cards camp.
His absence seemingly leaves the door open for multiple spinoffs – spinoffs that could potentially shift the spotlight over to Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) and/or Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) – but a new update from the streaming service has revealed that for now, the focus is still very much on season 6, with production set to resume next month, on December 8th.

Knowing how broad the horizon is when it comes to DC films said to be arriving in theaters over the course of the next few years, we’ll be bold in saying that the movie we’re most looking forward to in a post-Justice League world may very well be Nightwing. Sure, we still love Batman himself, but we’ve grown quite accustomed to seeing him on the big screen and, let’s face it, a picture focused squarely on the Boy Wonder grown up is long, long overdue.
Luckily, it sounds like Warner Bros. have found the right guy to sit in the director’s chair, that being Chris McKay. Having already made the studio some serious dough with The Lego Batman Movie, the filmmaker looks to continue his stay in Gotham City. Truth be told, we were a bit concerned as to whether he was the man for the job at first,...

It was the announcement that sent shockwaves coursing through the Star Wars fanbase: After four months’ worth of production, Disney and Lucasfilm parted ways with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the erstwhile directors on the Han Solo anthology pic – now known as simply Solo: A Star Wars Story.
That was back in July, when the Powers That Be turned to Ron Howard as a last-minute substitution. Even by Lucasfilm’s own standards, it was a remarkably quick turnaround, and something the studio would later call upon once more while drafting J.J. Abrams in to replace Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World) on Episode IX.
But on the topic of Solo, Lord and Miller were in attendance at the Vulture Festival in Los Angeles this past weekend. Truth be told, both creators have been relatively quiet since being removed from the high-profile gig, but here, Phil Lord stressed that both he and Miller...

The comic-themed November showdown between Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League is about to enter the final, decisive round.
With Ragnarok doing gangbusters at the global box office, all eyes are beginning to turn toward the DC Extended Universe and Justice League, in particular, to see what Warner Bros. can muster. Truth be told, early reviews have not been kind to the Zack Snyder tentpole, after many critics openly bashed Justice League for its poor execution and woeful CGI – one review even christened the film’s mega-villain as Missteppenwolf: Dark Lord Of The Uncanny Valley. So to put it kindly: DC’s biggest movie hasn’t exactly got off to the best of starts.
But it seems the bigwigs at Warner Bros. are beginning to fret over the film’s opening weekend. Sources close to The Hollywood Reporter warn that Justice League will struggle to beat Thor: Ragnarok‘s domestic bow...

It’s not often that you can remember what you were doing a decade ago, but in this case, I can. Ten years ago at this time, I was vehemently following the production of Justice League Mortal, looking for any news I could find online pertaining to it. After all, this was set to be the first live action meet up of DC’s premier superheroes on the big screen.
Set to have been directed by George Miller with a cast of up-and-coming actors featuring the likes of Armie Hammer as Batman, DJ Cotrona as Superman, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, Common as Green Lantern and Adam Brody as The Flash, it certainly seemed like we were off to the races and the dream was about to be made a reality.
But, unfortunately, that was not the case as the plug was pulled on the blockbuster for a variety of reasons.

Even though Greg Berlanti and company have crafted quite the interconnected DC Universe over on The CW, there are still some big names that have yet to put in appearances. And as awesome as those fall crossovers tend to be, it’s hard to imagine a DC Universe existing without certain characters – like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, for instance.
Now, a lot of this has to do with red tape that’s long separated WB’s film and television divisions. Heck, we remember a time when an animated series, The Batman, couldn’t make use of characters like Scarecrow, Two-Face and Ra’s al Ghul because studio executives thought viewers wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between them and those appearing in Christopher Nolan’s movies!

We say that because, believe it or not, our favorite bald contract killer is slated to carry out his next mission via a new Hitman series set to debut on a popular streaming service.
Now, you can say all you want about his silver screen outings – Hitman and Hitman: Agent 47 – but I enjoyed them both to varying degrees. Granted, they both kind of missed the mark when it came to the whole “Silent Assassin” motif, instead offering up someone who’d likely get a “Serial Killer” rating upon mission completion, but I firmly believe those flicks were much closer to the spirit of their respective source material than, say, the Resident Evil movies.

Niantic Labs, developer of the once immensely popular Pokémon Go, has announced plans to launch a Harry Potter Ar game based on J.K. Rowling’s fantastical world of witchcraft and wizardry.
Pegged to arrive in 2018, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is an augmented reality mobile game comparable to Ingress – another Niantic title – in that players roam the real world collecting power-ups, defending locations and generally exploring their local environment.
Co-developed by Warner Bros. Historically, the Oscars have a very particular definition of what makes for great acting. As far as the Academy Awards are concerned, a worthy performance typically has less to do with expression than it does exhumation — sometimes the little gold man goes to someone for bringing an original character to life, but more often it’s given to someone for bringing a real person back from the dead. At least, that’s been the case in the 21st century.
Truth be told, that’s perfectly understandable: Quantifying art is a fool’s errand, and biopics provide voters with a way of measuring how close someone has come to hitting their target. It isn’t necessarily a good way, but it’s a way all the same.
Whatever their opinion on the role itself, it would be hard to watch Gary Oldman reanimate Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour” and argue that...

Not only that, but it served as the breakout roles (pun intended) for the likes of Miller, Robert Knepper and several others, as well as later being adapted to a video game.

On that note, another name normally associated with the House of Ideas has made a similar shocking career move. Truth be told, we all figured the day would come when Brian Michael Bendis would write for DC, but we never knew when that’d be.
Well, with a single Tweet that rocked the industry, DC announced that Bendis has signed an exclusive deal with them that’ll span multiple years, thereby allowing the co-creator of characters such as Miles Morales and Jessica Jones access to their pantheon of heroes and villains.
